I think it’s also good to add that Bruce isn’t just fighting against the idea of crime to prevent what happened to him to happening to everyone else, but also helping people like Joe too. People who, unlike Joker, Bane, Crane, etc., aren’t monsters; but rather so broken and desperate they have to resort to doing something that would only make things worse. Like he did in the Animated series, it’s about showing the downtrodden that there is hope and redemption if you’re willing to fight for it.
Well one has the name in the title, rather than just apparently being in the same universe, is the direct continuation to one of the game's instead of just happening after them, and is actually focused on Batman rather than have him be a pawn in other character's stories. So not too surprising lmao
Well it's easy to see why one game respects the lore the other shits on it. Read the comics for fun stuff like Clayface having his head chomped off and dying from it...
I love stories that depict joe not as a bad person during that night but as a desperate one! I'm pretty sure (comic nerds correct me if I'm wrong!) that in the main dc universe, joe and Bruce had a good relationship because bruce forgave him after he realised that joe considered it the worst mistake of his life and regretted ever! Bruce was even next to him when he was on his deathbed not to say good riddance, but as a friend! I truly love stories like this because it shows that despite the chaos that criminals cause, there's still hope for them!
Question: Do you think Joe said ‘That’s what you get when you try to be a hero’, because from the way he describes the events to Crane in their audiotape when under the effects of Shadow, it seems like he shot Thomas for fighting back, then Martha because she saw his face then debated shooting Bruce before fleeing. I mention this because in Asylum, Thomas seems to be cooperating with Joe and then he just shoots him for the hell of it. To me this suggests Bruce never remembers the night exactly right, he can get the general sense but he always misremembers one detail or another everytime he revisits it, since he was 10, this was the most traumatic day of his life and memory is a sh!tshow.
It’s also entirely possible that considering how the memory in Arkham VR was a nightmare, Bruce could be embellishing some of the details. Joe looks particularly monstrous in that version compared to his Arkham Shadow counterpart.
The memory in Asylum is also triggered/fueled by Scarecrow's fear gas, so that version of the night his parents died being different could be explained by that. The fear gas is causing him to reimagine that night in the most traumatic way possible, where Thomas was cooperating and Joe killed him anyway out of cruelty or urgency
I just realized that Joe said, "We always a choice," to which Batman says: Arkham City: There's always a choice. Arkham Origins: You always have a choice.
There's also some exenuating circumstances in all of Batman's flashbacks. In Origins he hears the Joker, In Asylum it's not Joe's voice but it's also not exactly a representation of crime itself. If you listen closely the voice sounds a bit like Scarecrow's. Which makes sense because Batman had been drugged with fear toxin. In City Bruce has not one but two moments. The first is when entering crime alley in Arkham city. There's a chalk outline of his parents and a recording left by Hugo Strange. The second is his near death experience where he hallucinates his parents speaking to him. In Knight Batman has been inhaling fear toxin for much of the game and as a result is hallucinating fighting a horde of Jokers in crime alley.
4:45 this reminds me of one of the crime scenes in arkham origins where a couple was killed in crime alley and when batman interogates the man who did it he was extremely pissed. The reason why, is because it reminded him of his own parents dying a similar way, batman is supposed to stop crimes like this from happening but he couldnt stop this one. On top of that it wasnt just any mugger who did it, it was one of his friends. All this is reflected when he confronts him "you didnt do it because of money, not even out of love, not out jealosy, not out of anger, you did it because you're a small selfish malicious" before being stopped by Alfred. Had he not intervene batman whould have most likely killed Ian (the murderer)
this is the guy from Bruce's nightmares? Who murdered Thomas and Martha Wayne? The guy who created Batman? a bearded man? I guess to Bruce the guy looked more intimidating.
Golly G I really wonder why a man who saw his parents get brutally shot in front of him still has a nightmare about it, even though he met the killer and kind of reconciled with him. it’s almost like witnessing a double homicide at the age of nine will make you see some pretty messed up stuff
What makes the reveal so great is that you’re so focused on figuring out who the Rat King is at this point, that you never stop to think “what’s Joe’s last name?”
Might be because his finger slipped and he then shot Martha out of fear Dc Rebirth sorta explained it in the way that he shot them both by complete accident
The closest I've seen to Bruce forgiving Joe in the comics comes from the Three Jokers story that Geoff John's wrote a few years ago. Just a warning I'm about to spoil the comic The Three Jokers here so if you don't want to know how it goes I'd stop reading this comment. In that comic Joe is in prison dying from cancer and gets broken out by the crime boss Joker (long story don't ask) who wants to turn Joe into the next Joker in order for there to be three Jokers (but the original third Joker was killed by Jason Todd). Despite having every reason not to Batman saves Joe from being dumped into a vat of chemicals and later visits him in the prison hospital when he dies but I don't know if Bruce actually forgives him because neither of them say anything. Honestly I prefer how this game handled it and now I'm curious about what happened to Joe after the story ends.
"Who elected you anyway?!" "Who elected YOU? The problem with democracy is it doesn't keep you very safe." "It has other virtues, but you seem to have forgotten them." "I didn't forget! I just chose peace and security instead." "YOU GRABBED POWER!-" "AND WITH THAT POWER, WE'VE MADE A WORLD WHERE NO 8-YEAR-OLD BOY WILL EVER LOSE HIS PARENTS, because of some punk with a gun."
This is just a me thing but I don’t like Joe chill being an actual character. To me Joe chill was more of an en embodiment of how low the city of gothem had become,a physical representation of the crime ridden city that looks a boys parents from him, this is what drove Bruce to become the bat
I think that interpretation is exactly why Joe Chill is a named character and minor criminal. Joe could have been anyone, and these media want viewers to realize that.
Because he fell from the roof while under the influence of Crane's psychoactive toxin, strong painkillers, and the trauma of having half of his face melted, he doesn't remember anything from that night.
I reckoned it was probably a combination of the drugs he was taking, the trauma of the fall and his DID acting up, that led to him struggling to recall much of everything to do with the events of Shadow. The final scene of the game does establish that Harvey's memory is faltering and how he isn't necessarily aware of things that take place when the Two Face personality surfaces.

I think Arkham Shadow is some of the deepest Batman stuff we've gotten.
And finally an Arkham game that uses two-face right now all we need is a good black mask depiction
@@Not-spelt-like-at he's in this game funny enough, just 2 lines of dialogue

Ssktjl is honestly offensive to me 😩 and the fact they’re calling the deadshot from the real games an imposter??? Pfffff okay 👍
