Klonopin is to Valium what SAW DUST IS TO STEAK!! Klonipin is nothing but another pseudo ineffective franken drug to avoid prescribing actual EFFECTIVE anti anxiety meds like Xanax and Valium. I'm convinced that this shit is nothing but a PLACEBO. Maybe it was real at one time or maybe they are mixing placebo in with the real thing but what I got was a JOKE. A TYLENOL has more affect on me than this nonsense!! I don't understand what all these people are raving about. It's like being trapped in the "Emperor is Wearing No Clothes" fairy tale where I'm the only one who sees the truth. I could lick some dirt and get more of an effect that I got from this blue pill with "C 1" on one side!! And I have no tolerance built up for anything so that is not the problem THIS STUFF IS FAKE!!

I was taking alprazolam and diazepam for months and the withdrawals was bad. Then I started taking Kava Kava root with effects gaba without the withdrawals. Noble Kava Kava seems just like a low dose of benzos but without the withdrawals. Certain tyes of kava like tudei kava maybe really bad for liver though which sucks.

Probably the most informative video I've found on clonazepam. I've been trying to understand clonazepam and how it actually works for years. I take 4 tablets of 0.5mg a day and I'm a prisoner :( I am also on 120mg of methadone as well. I still can't sleep.

... Oh boy lol, Just wait until you find out that according to Benzodiazepine information coalition that over 76% of those who had to stop their benzodiazepines did so because they started having withdrawal symptoms while on the drug from Musculatory, Neurological all the way to 81% developing visual and perception issues with 42% developing vison loss... Why do you think the FDA issued its 3rd black box warning published Sept 23rd/2020? Wait until you realize that "Benzo kindling", Tolerance, tolerance withdrawal meaning you withdrawal even on the medication, Adverse reactions, Shocked Nervous system both CNS and PNS all the way to paradoxical reactions isn't just common it's expected... That's literally why there's a recommendation not to take a benzo longer then 2-4 weeks max.

Wow! This is by far the best breakdown and simplified explanation of this drug. I was put on Clonazepam 1mg tablet to be taken at bedtime for anxiety and insomnia after losing my Mother to cancer. It was a total game changer and helped me greatly BUT I began to have huge sugar/food cravings after taking it (Not good right before bed) so YES, it made me gain extra weight. Also, I began to have rapid blurred vision regardless of a new prescription for contacts & glasses.
I was a casual wine drinker (I've quit drinking) and this just exacerbated the side effects. I stupidly just stopped taking the drug after being on it for 8 months. That was the worst 72hrs of my life! I couldn't sleep, I became anxious and paranoid, I was grinding my teeth & clinching my jaw (Which I've never done before) I had major mood swings and irritability, depression and zero ability to stay focused on any given project or task.
It took me almost 45 days to wean myself off of Clonazepam. I went from 1mg down to 0.5mg for 3 weeks to 0.25mg for 2weeks and then 0.25mg every other day for 2 weeks and then no more!...
It's a very effective drug however, because of the side effects and its addiction abilities, I no longer wanted to be on it. I've worked through my grieving process and adapted new healthy habits & hobbies to keep me positive & busy, so I'm very satisfied with my life and myself. So for anyone on this drug, really sit down and weigh the Pro's & Con's of this drug and whatever you do - DO NOT STOP COLD TURKEY!....

Not addictive, The medical community most likely taught you that it was addictive but Benzodiazepines has the lowest risk of addiction. According to Benzodiazepine information coalition only 0.2% of the population will qualify for having a addiction to the drug, The drug causes dependence not addiction and they are not the same process, you're basically victim blaming and insulting everyone who took this benzo as prescribed and got hurt.
Second stop telling people not to go cold turkey, Many of us don't have that privileges you're scaring people on a option they don't have.

If you have sleep problems just wake up early in the morning and the first thing you have to do is taking natural light everyday, it doesn't matter if it's sunny, just take it for 20 minutes and your hipothalamus and suprachiasmatic nucleus in 2 weeks will start to put you to sleep easy and well.

    • @GCT1990
      @GCT1990 Рік тому

And you never will again, Using a benzodiazepine to help you sleep is the worst decision you've made. Tolerance withdrawal will effect you to which no matter how much you increase the drug it just won't work for you anymore and that happens to literally everyone, Not only with GabaA neurotransmitters be injured due to the benzo but without GABA now, You're melatonin production will not function anymore which also due to the drug, you're either have permanent issues sleeping once that happens or it'll take you years to regain that function normally again

LOL you're lying, according to The American Psychology Association, Benzodiazepines information coalition and The Creator Leo H sternbach, There's currently no research on long term effectiveness, safety and improvement of anxiety and depression longer then 3 months in the world... None
Why? Because benzodiazepines AREN'T CREATED FOR ANXIETY OR DEPRESSION.
News flash, only America and Canada use benzos longer then recommended which is 2-4 weeks max, that's because anxiety is a ling term condition and benzo as coined by the creator begins to destroy your nervous system in as little as 3 weeks, if you're taking a benzo longer then 4 weeks it's already too late for you the Nervous system is already break down, could take 2 months to 20+ years... Eventually the bill comes due, people develop neurological condition all the way to visual loss in benzos. The FDA and American Psychology Association actually refuse to do a long term research publication on benzos longer the 3 months because its legal and inhumane so I don't know where you got your info from but do better research.
At least look at the official 3rd black box warning published on Sept 23/2020 from the FDA.

    • @NurseRyan
      @NurseRyan  2 роки тому +1

The "strength" of Klonopin really just comes from it's high-potency when compared to other benzodiazepines. Also, Klonopin is longer-acting than some other benzodiazepines, which also contributes to it's strength. This is why just 1mg of Klonopin can feel much stronger than 1mg of a "weaker" or lower-potency benzodiazepine. Hope that helps!

I would definitely recommend letting your psychiatrist know of any of your concerns with the medication before switching anything up.
Clonazepam generally has a quick onset for treating panic/anxiety attacks, about 20-60 minutes. So if it has not been working for you, your psychiatrist may recommend a change in the dose or in the medication. Often times it takes trying out a couple different medications to find which one works best for you (and which one has fewer side effects for you)! Thank you for sharing, I hope you find something that works well.

@@lostboys7984 I agree, my only concern is that there is a push to get people off benzos because of the bad rap it gets from the media, and anecdotal (albeit too many) instances of misuse/dependency. Some people are naturally wired to get hooked on substances whether it's alcohol, benzos or opioids, it's not their fault, but they need to recognise this and be responsible. Plus there is a push from government and some drs are buying into that pressure. Regulations mean there are more dr patient visits mandated, means less appointment slots for new patients. Some patients are pressured to taper even though benzos have improved their quality of life drastically.

My first reaction is to take another .5mg of clonazepam that helps me with balance within minutes. I know I am going to suffer in older age because of all these medications. Any suggestions? My PC physician just adds more medication. I have to work and it's becoming unbearable.

Try the mitochondriac lifestyle. To be free from these medications, you must also come back to nature. Mitochondriac lifestyle helps you correct your circadian rhythm so you could go to sleep at night naturally, without the meds. There's also suggested diet to ensure your body is functioning according to what nature designated you to do. And practice sleep hygiene.

I would always recommend speaking to your doctor or pharmacist for any actual medical advice, as these videos are meant only for educational purposes! Hi, it is recommended to avoid drinking grapefruit juice when taking Rivotril, as it may increase Rivotril levels in the blood. However, I have not seen anything about Rivotril interactions with just grapes. Alcohol, like Rivotril, is a CNS depressant, which is why mixing them can result in increased sedation and depressed breathing. I always recommend speaking to your primary healthcare provider or pharmacist about any actual medical advice, as these videos are meant for educational purposes only. Hope that helps!

Hi Daniel, sorry for the late response. From what I've gathered, it is unclear as to whether GABA supplements could help with your questions. So definitely check with your primary healthcare provider or pharmacist for the best information!
That being said, I found a study review from 2015 that states "There is some evidence in favor of a calming effect of GABA food supplements, but most of this evidence was reported by researchers with a potential conflict of interest" and that "...the mechanism of action of GABA food supplements is far from clear, and that further work is needed to establish the behavioral effects of GABA." If you're interested, the review talks about Blood-Brain Barrier Permeability and GABA as a Food Supplement in much more detail. You can find it by searching for doi: 10.3389/fpsyg.2015.01520 or the title "Neurotransmitters as food supplements: the effects of GABA on brain and behavior". This might have some correlation to your question.
However, I have also read that GABA supplements may, in fact, ease withdrawal symptoms. So again, check with your healthcare provider, as they should have the best information for you!

My doctor added Gabapentin to help reduce my use of Klonopin.. started at 4mg of Klonopin..reduced slowly over time to 1 mg.... now take 1 mg, only for sleep. Klonopin is very physically addictive to the brain. Very !! Gabapentin in high doses helped me reduce, but I was dizzy and got vision problems from Gabapentin. Looking back, I wish I would have never taken one benzodiazepines pill. Most all my problems started, started, with extreme addictive Xanax. Xanax is the worst of the benzodiazepines. Horrendous drug.

That's like asking if you can go off of 0.125 and be ok. Only you can know if you're in withdrawal and dependant. If you're suffering badly from withdrawal, no you cannot switch over to the Gaba and use that instead. It's not the same. Clonazepam is a very powerful benzo. Gaba is milder and a supplement.

Hi Angelo, if they don't already know, I would definitely recommend informing your primary healthcare provider or your pharmacist about your concerns. They will be able to ask more about your history and can determine if the medication is safe for you.
According to the FDA's 2013 document on Klonopin (Clonazepam): "...nor have the effects of renal or liver disease on clonazepam pharmacokinetics been studied" and "Because clonazepam undergoes hepatic metabolism, it is possible that liver disease will impair clonazepam elimination." The document can be found here: www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2013/017533s053,020813s009lbl.pdf
I have also read that long-term use of Benzodiazepines can cause sleep apnea.

WOW. How are you feeling on all those benzos for so long? Are you ever planning to try to stop taking them? There has been tolerance built already as you've kept having to up the dose

@@jflsdknf , Hi, I have tried but I was sick and hallucinating both audio and visual. It was one of the worst things I’ve ever gone through. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. I was blessed to find a new doctor when I moved to another county. I think at this point it would most likely kill me and I hope I never have to go through this again. The only way I would even consider it is if the Doctor knew about the Ashton manual and knew how to cross over and the correct doses, I would possibly give that a try. If I failed and started getting deathly ill I would probably try to stop it and just go back to my regular dose.

I take klonopin on Thursday-sat for work with alcohol to make the day go faster... although I am noticing a dependency on them. Usually take 2 on those days with beer or liquor... Never realized how dangerous

Hi, sorry for the very late response, I missed your comment!
I would always recommend speaking to your doctor or pharmacist for any actual medical advice, as these videos are meant only for educational purposes. Please keep in mind that mixing benzodiazepines and alcohol can be very dangerous!

Yup it's good... Until you develop neurological complications and lose your vision which is why the FDA put out its 3rd black box warning, you can't poke the Nervous system and not expect the bill to come around
