I took Risperidone over a year ago for a few months. It honestly was the worst. It just made me have no feelings what so ever and I felt like a zombie/ robot. @JohnnyGotHisGun I'm off of it now. They misdiagnosed me with a psychotic break, another shrink saw me and said no, she's severely depressed and shouldn't have stopped taking her anti depressants, and I have ptsd from a series of suppressed traumatic events from my late teens. Lonis Luntz you’re in no position to make that, not only have you made a generalisation (which in themselves are unrealistic) but you’re unqualified to do so.
I was also prescribed zoloft. Like you I ate healthy, I quickly realized how to reverse the depression that I caused with my healthy diet, it's simply a lack of fatty acids in the Body that is obviously resolved when eating more fatty foods, more complex for me considering I don't eat animals, fish, or birds. I am consuming coconut oil big time instead of the Zoloft

I was on 0.5 ml of Risperdal and 10 mg of Lexapro. My side effects were really different. During the first week, I felt sedated. The second week was the worst ever. I had severe diarrhea, intense muscle pains, insomnia and vomiting. 🤮
I've only been taking it almost a week for schizoaffective but at night that's when my hallucinations are more severe. This medication worked for me before I was pregnant but ever since I started it again it hasn't been the same. I just want my life back without hallucinations.
Atleast Hunger was the only thing i felt while on this med. I almost felt dead. Dead inside too. i couldnt feel my heartbeating but drs said my heart rate was fine. I couldnt hear my heartbeat like i used to. I didnt feel happy or joy. I had trouble falling in love and interested in my gf at the time.but during drama and traumatic events I was impressed how chill i was. Because im usually a rollercoaster bi- polar gf that cried constantly. I stopped hearing things/hallucinating things and was able to think clearer and not irrationally. My paranoia seemed to be worse actually. I dont know if the med helped me think smarter or be ridiculously paranoid. I also had blurry vision and the worse part was being exhausted after a good night sleep. I gained a sensitivity to lights and sound. Im impressed with risperidone as a sedative. but i dont think its the right med for me because The side effects i cant handle. Also this med makes you sick to your stomach if you miss a dose.
Zoloft was horrible. It made me a zombie. Risperidone makes me just plain old tired. I'm always exhausted and can't move. Does anyone have light sensitivity issues? The blurriness is something I also went thru it was worse because I was on a few meds so combined...
The cleaning and wiping of every room of the house... first big thing I did after coming from the psyche ward. Was on this drug 24/7, everything felt like a dream.

My mother started having delusions of persecution after she couldn't sleep for 48 hours. We took her to the doctor and he said that it's depression. Took her to another doctor and he prescribed an anti depressant and risperidone. I'm worried the risperidone will have bad effects for her cause I used to take them myself and they reduced my concentration and memory to such a low state. My mom is 57 and I love her to such an extent that I can't continue living without her. Please tell me she'll be alright. I'm so desparate and broken. Is risperidone dangerous? Should I not let her take risperidone anymore? Btw she has been under a huge amount of stress both at work and in home, I think that's what triggered her episode
iv'e been taking risperidone since my psychotic episode back in 2014. I like it because it i don't know the science behind it, but i am one of those people that when i lay down for bed my brain will be like "lets think about random shit for the next 8 hours" so it does slow down my thinking by a lot and i do feel sedated from it, but i feel it sedates me too much for bed because most days i sleep for 10 to 12 hours. Unless i am on a strict work routine.
Nern only the blind want to slow down their thinking. Open your mind and expand your consciousness. You were restless because you needed to meditate on what happened that day
@Dorcas Orebiyi yes. I am on a very low dose now. But I do exercise quite a bit now through body weight training. Drink lots of water and eat a healthy diet. Takes alot of effort. Finding a good doctor is probably 50 percent of the battle too. The first few would just write off prescriptions and dope up the crap out of me. So finding a doctor that genuinely cares about you is very difficult
@Dorcas Orebiyi since 2012. the reason my crap hit the fan in 2014 was because i stopped taking it by my own choice and it really messed me up not taking it.

I had the same prescription as you, for ocd. The zoloft never did shit for me. I eventually stopped taking it long before I stopped taking the risperidone. Looking back, I think the zoloft was fucking with my heart beat and heart rate, and I think it was much more dangerous. Something I noticed is, you can actually take less of the risperidone. At one point I was breaking a 1 milligram pill into 3 pieces, and still feeling the same, just less side effects. It's kind of funny when I first started taking it, because the doctor told me to take it in the morning, and I would take it on my way to work, and holy freaking cow... I would be so tired I was like a zombie, and had to drink about 5 cups of coffee before I could stay awake. Something important that an old guy told me, you should cycle off of the risperidone every 9 months, for about a month to a month in a half, to protect your body. After about 7 years, I forgot to do this, and later I realized how valuable that advice was. Eventually, I just got over the ocd, and I have been off of the risperidone for probably 10 years.
Makes my stomach kinda fucked up though, about half an hour after taking the pill I'm on the toilet, does anyone know of any foods that can help stomach problems associated with medications?
ive been on seroquel, abilify, risperdal, zyprexa, clozaril, throazine and haldol for what they believed was schizoaffective disorder. clozaril was BY FAR the worst, i had to get blood draws every week for a while and i had to be hospitalized to begin the trial. keep in mind, im only 17. risperdal had some side effects, mostly being sexual dysfunction. however, risperdal wasn't sedating AT ALL compared to the other antipsychs ive taken besides abilify. at one point in time, i was on 6mg of risperdal. im currently on 15mg zyprexa thats working wonders for me. no hallucinations or delusions, and my mood symptoms are well managed. people experience different side effects from the same drug. however, i dont understand how risperdal would make your obsessive compulsive symptoms any worse. im currently studying to become a psychiatrist, and my aunt is a reknown psychiatrist. i think your obsessive compulsive symptoms are psychosomatic side effects. albeit, i hope you do well, and i wish you luck :)
I had been on risperidone before 6mg is high, if you can ask for lower meds, I have now been on invega sustenna for years it's the shot form of risperidone. I was on 156mg for 4 years every 4 weeks. After being on it for years i have now been on 78 mg invega sustenna for 1 year and I feel the best I ever felt on anti psychotic meds. I am trying to get the doctor to lower my meds but he refuses. But being on less medication is better. Praying for my health these past years have really helped. Ask your doctor for his professional experience. Bute personally I like being on Lower meds it's way less side effect and you feel more like yourself instead of being over sedated and feeling no emotions
Risperidone and Abilify destroyed my life. It is such a uplift to know I was not the only one going through this. Thank you.

The new shrink has me in trauma counselling. The other shrink thought I was just nuts. That's why the medicine nearly drove me insane; because I didn't need it.

Lonis Luntz you’re in no position to make that, not only have you made a generalisation (which in themselves are unrealistic) but you’re unqualified to do so.
I've been on abilify, latuda, olanzapine, seroquel, and now risperidone. It doesn't really make me feel tired. But sometimes it makes me freak out.

Took her to another doctor and he prescribed an anti depressant and risperidone. iv'e been taking risperidone since my psychotic episode back in 2014.

Tell them about the weird gravity that nobody else notices where you feel like your being squashed...
ive been on seroquel, abilify, risperdal, zyprexa, clozaril, throazine and haldol for what they believed was schizoaffective disorder. clozaril was BY FAR the worst, i had to get blood draws every week for a while and i had to be hospitalized to begin the trial. keep in mind, im only 17. risperdal had some side effects, mostly being sexual dysfunction. however, risperdal wasn't sedating AT ALL compared to the other antipsychs ive taken besides abilify. at one point in time, i was on 6mg of risperdal. im currently on 15mg zyprexa thats working wonders for me. no hallucinations or delusions, and my mood symptoms are well managed. people experience different side effects from the same drug. however, i dont understand how risperdal would make your obsessive compulsive symptoms any worse. im currently studying to become a psychiatrist, and my aunt is a reknown psychiatrist. i think your obsessive compulsive symptoms are psychosomatic side effects. albeit, i hope you do well, and i wish you luck :)
