This movie is a masterpiece. It shows how cruel growing up in the hood can be and how good kids turn into monsters just to survive. A lot of times kids die before they find something to live for and if they do their past catches up to them before they can change themselves . The cycle is vicious and endless.

The store owner got off and served no jail time

Menace II Society was the version of Boyz N Da Hood that Trey and Ricky didn’t make it out of the hood. Also imagine if Trey decided to live the street life instead of leaving for college.
Never saw anyone react to this movie! The older I get the more I empathize with the characters as, while they made terrible choices, they are also victims of circumstance. So tragic. Just subscribed!
I love how in a movie about street gangs, racism, drugs and drive by shootings, that the biggest reaction from you guys is how good the ribs looked on the BBQ 🤣🤣🤣
My Dad exposed me to hood movies since I was young... I've seen things in the streets.. took part in doing bad and I can tell you it's not just a movie.. Art imitating life
I love your genuine reactions. Every moment seems pure and you guys seem to genuinely enjoy watching and discussing the major themes and topics! Great vid guys 👏
Also imagine how desensitized and warped they have to be from all that trauma and made to believe that’s everyday life, but are expected to act like normal people and contribute to society.
Right, I think that’s the underlying theme of this film….people not from the ghetto can’t understand how murder is taken so casual in those environments. It’s of the human condition to adapt. The crazier the environment, the crazier the adaptation. I grew up middle class but end up living in the hood as an adult. I heard gunshots so often every night, It got to the point where it was part of the ambiance, I’ll roll over and go to sleep.
@@tswagg504 your comment kind of reminded me of a scene in the movie Big where Josh Baskins gets really scared the first night in New York because of hearing gunshots and screaming and then sometime later during a similar scenario, he goes right to bed.
I appreciate reactors who actually watch the film. I don’t want to see someone cracking jokes and trying out a standup routine for subs. I want to see people who have never seen some of these great films genuinely watch and enjoy. Keep up the good work.
Y’all should watch “Blood in blood out” it’s based on prison gangs and violence or “American me” which is based on a true story on how the Mexican Mafia was made both movies came out around the same time as Menace ll society and Boyz hood I think you guys will find them interesting
Great reaction/review. The crazy thing about Caine was that he got killed b/c he didn't want to take care of his responsibilities (getting Ilene pregnant), but was willing to take care of someone else's (Anthony, Purnell's son). If he would've accepted he had a baby on the way, Ilene wouldn't have told her cousin, the cousin wouldn't have confronted Caine & O-Dog, they wouldn't have stomped him out, and the cousin wouldn't have retaliated. But at the same time, if he did step up & take responsibility, he probably wouldn't have left with Ronnie and he eventually would've got charged for accessory and went to jail or been murdered by some guys who would have retaliated against Caine & O for killing the guys who killed Caine's cousin. So either way, Caine was destined to live a short life. I recommend Higher Learning next. Another Laurence Fishburne & Ice Cube movie.
Maybe if Caine and O are the same person and O was the tough persona Caine created to deal with the trauma of his up bringing... And then his death just means the good side of him is dead... He's all o dog now??
I’ve always found this movie to be so poetic. Caine acting as a stand in for any kid fresh outta high school living in the hood and what the environment can do to influence someone. In the end the drive by is to represent how his actions and carelessness ending up killing him in the end. He did too much to go out and wipe his slate clean.
This is every day life for a lot of people. I'm born and raised West Side of Chicago and this was extremely accurate. Life and death just walking out the house
Great reaction guys. Y’all seem like cool genuine people. Nice to see things from y’all’s perspective at the end. I saw this movie when I was like 10. The opening scene lives rent free in my head, and also Kane’s death. Movie suggestion: Set It Off, Hardball
Fun fact: Tupac Shakur was originally cast to play Sharif, but was fired which led to a physical fight with co-director Allen Hughes. He thought Sharif wasn’t hood enough. Shakur was charged with assault and battery. Shakur bragged about the altercation during an appearance on ‘Yo! MTV Raps.’ A tape of the appearance was played at the trial as evidence against him and was sentenced to 15 days in jail.

I wouldn’t say they are surprised like they don’t know it exists, but that they are invested in the characters itself and their lives in the movie of what happens to them.

Art imitating life
Also in O-Dogg defense he's a 15 or 16 yr old sociopath 😂🤣 he's actually the youngest in the group
Exactly, but many don't realize that or choose to clearly ignore that *fact*
💯
Right, I think that’s the underlying theme of this film….people not from the ghetto can’t understand how murder is taken so casual in those environments. It’s of the human condition to adapt. The crazier the environment, the crazier the adaptation. I grew up middle class but end up living in the hood as an adult. I heard gunshots so often every night, It got to the point where it was part of the ambiance, I’ll roll over and go to sleep.
Ha. I’m 45 and I think it still effects me a bit. Lil bit
@@tswagg504 your comment kind of reminded me of a scene in the movie Big where Josh Baskins gets really scared the first night in New York because of hearing gunshots and screaming and then sometime later during a similar scenario, he goes right to bed.
Crazy how these videos are long but I manage to watch them beginning to end cause of how good they are lol
Where these dudes been my entire UA-cam life!? Every movie they watch I've seen hundreds of times, but watching them watch them...I love it!
Grats on hitting 5K guys! Apparently it's tickling the algorithm because I found this reaction in my suggestions so I'm here to check ya'll out!
React to “ DONT BE A MENACE TO SOCIETY WHILE DRINKING YOUR JUICE IN THE HOOD”😂😂😂
Gotta react to the parody lol
@@shantellamar8154 😂😂😂
I appreciate reactors who actually watch the film. I don’t want to see someone cracking jokes and trying out a standup routine for subs. I want to see people who have never seen some of these great films genuinely watch and enjoy. Keep up the good work.
Y’all should watch “Blood in blood out” it’s based on prison gangs and violence or “American me” which is based on a true story on how the Mexican Mafia was made both movies came out around the same time as Menace ll society and Boyz hood I think you guys will find them interesting
that movie is too long and too boring lol
@@AllThingsKen definitely not boring lmao is long tho
Yall are watching all our classic and I'm loving every moment of it.❤💯Shout out in 2022✌🏾
Movies like Menace II Society, Boyz n the Hood Juice, were reality for most of us Inner City youths.
It wasn't his kid the writer said she lied about getting pregnant to get mon3
Money*
Maybe if Caine and O are the same person and O was the tough persona Caine created to deal with the trauma of his up bringing... And then his death just means the good side of him is dead... He's all o dog now??
30:02
Everyone clowns the way that dude runs. It's hilarious 😂.
What an absolute heartbreaker. And that last line. Damn.
Yes Hardball.
And the movie 187 with Samuel L Jackson
It's crazy. My uncle made me watch this when I was 10 as well. I get what he ws trying to do but.... damn.
@17:27 “He took the cheeseburgers too!!!”
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I knew I didn’t have to type it. Just kept scrolling 😆
Let’s get them to watch all of the hood classics !
I just respect y’all for diving in a different genre of movies and understanding the message.. keep doing your thing. You just gained a sub 💯💯
The craziest shit is this is REALLY how some of us grew up. I’m from Newark, NJ and some of My classmates in 4th Grade had guns bigger than my arm in my classrooms and sold drugs to the teachers bro 😢. If only people knew bro!
Same in Charlotte NC
Baltimore tew
@@igweofart "tew" ☠️☠️☠️😂
I'm from the Bronx and it's the same shit
I really love your channel dudes, I run a movie club with friends at a forum and I'm showing Menace to them on June 1, I already did Boyz N the Hood and they enjoyed the heck out of it. Keep going bros
That forum sounds dope!
@@briananicole5213 thanks, I’m doing it on a history forum which is a bustling place :).
THE COLOR PURPLE. You're welcome! 😌
30:02 had me dying! that part of the movie has been a "meme" before memes. my cousins & kids n school used to imitate that run and get laughs Everytime
PTSD always alert in the hood u can see it in his eyes
😂😂😂 the same thing from where im from too.. the good ol days..that run is so damn funny..you do that run to somebody who seen the movie and they gone be in tears laughing
The reaction to Cain being in the waiting room covered in blood was priceless lol
"In broad daylight? HE TOOK THE CHEESEBURGERS!!"
😂😂
Higher learning, American history x and set it off would be tight
I always thought America history was boring lol
@@devantethedcguyreactstoo252 that’s surprising why’s that?
@@devantethedcguyreactstoo252 nah u wildin. That movie fire. My teeth still clinched from that curve stomp.
American History X is 🔥🔥🔥. Different lense to look through.
React to “Don’t be a menace to south central while drinking your juice in the hood” next😂😂😂😂😂
Lol they wouldn't get the references though
@@DesignzRUs but I bet they’ll be like “wait this scene looks familiar”🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@DesignzRUs I think they would since they seen Menace to society and boys in the hood. Those are the main movies the movie is a parody of.
That movie is stupid.
@@kishad1542 that was the point. It was a parody
Now that you have seen this and Boyz N the Hood. You MUST WATCH "Dont be a menace in south central whilst drinking your juice in the hood"... you will literally die laughing
I really hope they watch it
Nah they gotta watch the other movies first to get the references
WAS LITERALLY GONNA SUGGUEST THAT MOVIE!! I hope they do a reaction to that one !
The "he can't even run properly" took me out 🤣
Just imagine... This was life for so many families in the 90s... Movies like this and Boyz in tha Hood are classic because they're so relatable to us from that era.
I wanna suggest "Baby Boy"
Fun Fact: The directors are twins. I really like your content, keep up the good work.
You reactions to the opening scene had me dying LOL. That movie is one of the rawest films ever made. My cousins grew up in that hood in the 90's. That movie got it 100% right.
I love watching your reactions to all of my favorite classics
Jason's lyric is a classic
I know I’m a year late but man, i felt like i was watching this with yall as if it was my first time. I seen this for the very first time when quarantine first hit. A tragic movie because of how true it is. Menace is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time.
You should watch Colors next, it's like the Latino version of Boyz in the Hood and Menace II Society. If you want to jump over to the "blue side" : "Training Day" or "End of Watch"
They def need to do Blood In Blood Out.
Yeah.
Yeah End of watch is what happens in South Central and They directed the movie a couple blocks where I live 😂 great movie
Colors is a cop movie.
Baby Boy is an amazing movie really taught me a lot growing up same director as BOYZ N DA HOOD
The movie “Fresh” with Samuel L Jackson is another movie that would blow them away lol
Love that movie!!!!
@@SmileyAdventures it’s a classic I swear they need to watch that next.
I would love to see their reaction to Fresh
Indeed!!!!
I got the dope moves lol
This might sound crazy but it deserved a oscar because we got so invested in his character and care about him ,that's cinema in my opinion and I was really hurt when he died ,this movie touched me man .
Fun fact: the role of shariff was supposed to go to 2pac but he had a fight with the directors of the movie over how the character was portrayed
Actually he was suppose to play shariff
@@lataracalloway3636 yeah he didn't want the to play a peace maker he wanted to be more of a thug character

Checkout Dead Presidents it's by the same directors of this film.
This Movie and Boys in The Hood Just is Proff that not everyones America is The Same🎯
Chauncey was played by the actor who also portrayed Pinky in Next Friday!
Higher Learning, The Color Purple, and Crooklyn (a break from Black trauma).
How is crooklyn a break from trauma when the momma died in the movie?
I'm still surprised every time you guys are shocked at some of these scenarios as if they don't happen every day. I don't know what part of the country you guys are in but this is life in the Southwest
I wouldn’t say they are surprised like they don’t know it exists, but that they are invested in the characters itself and their lives in the movie of what happens to them.
Uh it’s likely they just don’t live in that environment. I grew up in the hood and this movie is still shocking and sad to see.
That ending gets me every time. I'm glad you reacted to this and understood the message of the movie.
Y'all ain't alone, trust me. I'm Still infuriated about Ricky. He 100% did not deserve that shit.
Y’all should watch a movie called “Don’t be a Menace to Society while drinking your juice in the hood” it’s a parody of hood movies by the Wayans bros. A you guys need a little lightheartedness after all these hood movies 😂
Really appreciate you guys doing “black movies”.
Not only did Cain mess with the wrong ppl but he kept making bad choices which eventually caught up to him😔
This is becoming a favorite channel
I love how surprised they were when the clerk got shot, I remember watching this when I was little and already knew shit was gonna go down 👀😂
I didn’t grow up in South Central I’m from Philly. Not even the worse part but I’ve seen a lot. Even at my young age when the movie came out I saw so much that what happened in this movie wasn’t necessarily shocking but more like what I experienced on steroids. Watching you guys react help me realize how much I normalized trauma. It’s a lot of people who came up in similar neighborhoods suffering from ptsd and don’t even know it.
