The Mr, who's spent countless hours rolling out/cooking rotis, tried this recipe this weekend, and you're now a Rock Star, in his universe. He loved it.
Chetna, never tried a flat bread with yoghurt in it before...chappatis having been my mainstay. My wife makes Bhaturas with eggs in it, and fries them in oil. However, I found this a most delightful in-between recipe, and for the effort and time of preparation, this combination of ingredients makes the most delightful flat bread...blew me away like a tsunami! Shared the recipe with another family who were similarly blown away. Now, I can't make it often enough. The concept of the various toppings, and a final lashing of butter is simply divine! Thank you!
Made yesterday! SO EASY, puffed and soft and perfect without frying! I served with hummus and yogurt dip. Our fave spice dusting was garam masala on top with, of course, salted butter. A KEEPER RECIPE I’ve been wishing for!
OMG, I am salivating. I am in love with your recipes and the elegant simplicity. This should go well with all of the veg curries I make. Thank you again Chetna.
You were right Chetna, quick and easy. I made up the dough before my dinner guests arrived and then quickly rolled them and cooked them while the rest of the meal was being served up. Everyone loved them, hot from the pan. Thank you!
OMG how lovely is this bread! My first one wasn't rolled out flat enough but was delicious anyway! My second is cooking right now and looks better! I have only Greek seasoning and it's gorgeous!
My god, made these tonight...... Absolutely, absolutely amazing!!!!! Were a perfect accompaniment to your Saag Aloo - which was also incredible!!!!! Thanks very much for taking the time to share👍👍
I would really love to learn more about how to season breads. I went to India 20 years ago and was given a flatbread and it blew my mind! Had so many complex flavours inc a tiny aniseed hit every now and then. Really loving your channel Chetna. Thank you.
I tried it. Observations: Needed more water (which is dependent on the moisture content of the flour). The dough was easy to work with; I did not have to fight it as happens with some doughs. The bread did not puff up in the least but was quite tasty anyway. Some parts were dry and cracker-ish, some parts were breadier. How thick is it supposed to be rolled when preparing? I allowed the leftovers to sit out on the counter overnight, so now it is completely "crackers" which was my intention, so I am pleased. It suits both my husband and me, so I consider it a success.
This is the best and easiest flat bread ever ! They are delicious ! I like them so much I went into my workshop and made a 'roti box' to make the process 'tidier' for me in my limited space !! Thank you so much !!!
This was great. I made it with a crazy mix of all-purpose, rice, and buckwheat flour 😅 as I didn’t have enough all-purpose. Needed way less water. I put curry powder on top and did cook it with oil so it wouldn’t stick to my pan. It didn’t rise nearly as much as this, I imagine because of the random mix of flours. But it was great, and fast, and cheap!
Hi Chetna. Made these tonight with soya yoghurt instead of dairy as I’m vegan and they were totally delicious! Really soft. We had them with chole and my son wants them again tomorrow. Thank you X
Superb. Will definitely try this. I have made quite a few of yr receipes and they hv all turned out very tasty and liked by my family. Thanks for sharing. Love the way u cook and look forward to yr receipes. Truly truly brightening up lockout times. Stay blessed. 🙏😘
Really great. I just have an option, make a cup of it and put the spread go inside and roll. That gives another level as the spread won't spill away. Try it.
i'm american and fell in love with zaatar! thanks for the bread rcipe. Edit: it was so delicious, i'm making it again. had it with salad, and i'll be doing pizzas on them next
I will be making these this week. At this time I have garbanzo flour which I may try for now. Looking forward to tomorrow's video to see what you are making to go with this flatbread.
I was thinking of naan bread not flat bread but this looks so nice. Next time I make a curry I will attempt to make some of these flat breads to dip into the curry/mop the dish clean. I don't have zaatar so will use another spice/herb. Talking of spices, in a recipe requiring a teaspoon of cumin seeds could cumin powder be substituted and what quantity, please?
hi! i tried this and indeed its so yummi, thank you being so generous and ahare the goodness! one question - what temperature do you recommend for the pan? super high? high? medium? it seems it wants high for full puff which i managed but too high doesnt puff fully or birns and lower doesnt puff. suggestions if better on the lower side of heat or high? thxxx
Can this be made without the yogurt? I can’t/don’t carry it when hiking/camping. Looking for alternatives to go with sweet potato roti’s as bread alternatives. Great video.

Love this! I worked with alternative flours that I needed to use up: paleo, coconut and buckwheat. They feel apart but they were delicious!

Chana Bhatura is one of my all time favourite foods.
Discovered channel today , made your chapatti recipe... now watching this, ordered book on Amazon and subscribed :)
I love your video ... could you tel me if i can freeze this bread ?
I am sure they will freeze well but I have never tried before
I would say yes, and the more airtight you can make it the better. I use a vacuum sealer and it eliminates freezer burn so it lasts longer.
Can this be made without the yogurt? I can’t/don’t carry it when hiking/camping. Looking for alternatives to go with sweet potato roti’s as bread alternatives. Great video.
I'm commenting because I'm hoping someone gives you the answer. I can't do dairy.
Dear Chetna, thanks for this amazing and quick bread !! :))
This looks really tasty but you didn't say what was in zaatar mix? Is that something I can do or is it bought off the shelf in supermarket?
Its a ready mix that you can buy in the shops
I love that your kitchen has stuff everywhere LOL it means you know how to cook and those are the videos I try to follow 😂
😊 thank you
Your English is beautiful. I listen to your videos more for the English than for the food itself. 😊🙋
Hello can you use self rising flour???🤔🥰🥰🥰🥰 thanks
Wow! What mix do you add at the end?
Nice ☝️ and zataar is great!
so delicious
