    @11:15. Remember that adding bags does NOTHING to add weight carrying capacity. Rule 1 of researching bags.

  • @Mill72
    @Mill72 Рік тому +10

    Air bags don’t add weight capacity. Your 2500 is limited instead of getting a 3500 with greater payload for how you’re utilizing the truck.

    Cool set up! Andre - Now you have a CDL, right? Word to the wise, you need chains for securing wheeled vehicles. You should also chock the wheels. Otherwise this looks nice!

    • @Malc664
      @Malc664 Рік тому +1

      For heavy machinery for example, earthmoving plants, chains are best. For lighter cars like Andre's Buhanka 4 straps is good. But on each wheel, not from the chassis. I'm a truck driver in Australia so not sure of your laws

    • @wannabeangler
      @wannabeangler Рік тому +1

      @@Malc664 Thanks for your input. I'm a trucker in the USA for 20 years and I haul specialty loads primarily, including Over Size. This is a recreational setup, but he has a CDL. This puts him in another category. When someone has a CDL ( Commercial Driver's License )here in the USA, the laws are the same applying to the driver whether commercially or recreationally.

      In Europe we also only use straps but don't tie down the chassis, we tie down each wheel to the trailer and use wheel chocks when necessary.

    I thought that airbags don't increase capacity. They only level you out so that rear squat, trailer tongue height, braking, viewing so your nose is less in the way...is safer.

    Been watchin all the traihound vids! its a killer truck and you guys did a great job. the Alu-cab is sweet as it should be for 25k but i think i would have gone a slightly different route w susp and tires. if this were a dedicated tow rig or i was leaving the camper on i would have gone w 35s for lower center of gravity, less weight, less gear change, and in general ease of use. like maybe then a spare could have fit underneath? the 37s still look right size w the truck lift considering you jumped 4" in size. i would have done a two inch lift in front and kept the 3in block in the rear. this way it would keep factory stance w an empty bed slightly raised. So when you add all this weight like you are now it would ride more level. now you need to adjust your headlites while towing.

    I always saw the limited payload on the 2500 when equipped with the Cummins. It was like 2k lbs, when the gasser was around 3400 payload. Are you over capacity? Why not just get the 3500? Nice video! Lastly, did you use a programmer on your speedo? Thanks

    Here is an idea for the Aluma trailer! Add a 10 inch tall in-between trailer bed layer containing nothing but Li-Ion EV battery cells and connect it to a EV truck or car and see how much BATTERY DRIVING RANGE it can contribute to an EV trip. Make the battery cage on the trailer strong enough so you can drive and carry an SxS/UTV or other heavy load on it.
    I would say that about $25,000 to $35,000 USD worth of high end LG or Panasonic Li-Ion battery cells could turn that Aluma trailer into an massive EV BATTERY EXTENDER trailer setup for ALL types of EV vehicles!
    See if you can ask Ford (Lightning), RAM (eVolution), Chevy/GMC (new EV trucks) if they can get you a hardware computer update to allow you to CHARGE the EV vehicle FROM the battery trailer while you are driving!
    If Ford, RAM, Checy/GMC won't do that change, it shouldn't be that hard to get a local electrical engineer to make a SHUNT or BYPASS circuit to FOOL the EV vehicles into charging from the battery trailer while driving! (i.e. hook into the hill or stop'n'go power regeneration circuit so the incoming battery trailer power fools the computer into thinking the battery trailer is part of the power/braking regeneration system so it continuously recharges the main vehicle battery WHILE driving!)

    Payload loss with all of these mods? Does changing springs or adding airbags change the max legal weight GVWR according to the DOT or other law enforcement? What about insurance - if you get in an accident and need coverage / protection?
    I’m sure this’ll be popular, but one has to ask what their net worth has to be in order to responsibly afford this.. To buy a $70k truck and then throw a bunch more money at it and then take it into the boonies and use it. Anyone that’s not already a millionaire probably shouldn’t be thinking about doing this kind of thing.

Do a side by side test for 400.000.0 miles and compare the repair cost and down time . I will bet the stock truck will come out on top . Real tests matter not pulling a recycled bear can 🇺🇸🇺🇸

      I would call this more of a do it all build. Sure you are sacrificing towing capability to a degree and increasing wear and tear, but it’s now far more capable off road. Obviously you wouldn’t run 37s and 17s if you are towing as heavy as you mentioned, but for lighter towing and some off-roading, plus comfort, and a cozy place to sleep, this truck checks all the boxes.
