Considering how successful she has become, I doubt it's underrated. Probably only underrated by fans who just keep saying "she's gorgeous" when there's a video of her acting.
She'll always be Kelly to me like the other actors will always be their roles but she's definitely successful other than MWC and has won a couple Emmys from other work so she's not underrated. Aside from this show I also love her work from Don't tell mom the babysitters dead as well.
This reaction to the doorbell and her look when she put together what the ashes were in the grilling burger episode were two of the best facial reactions in comedy. The fact this show was fairly low-brow comedy really buried the fact that there was some great performances from this cast.
The fact that Applegate said and did so much that would result in an entire generation of global viewers to objectifying her at this tender age without spending a day at any of Hollywood's rehab clinics like every second teenage star is just so wonderful to see!

Yeah kelly was going on a sports game show and Al was teaching her all the sports knowledge needed to win. Bud warned his dad that she'll forget stuff when she learns something new due ot her small brain. During the gameshow she didnt know how to work the buzzer and thus she lost a fact which was who scored 4 touchdowns in a single game at polk high in which the whole studio audience knew it as they said Al Bundy. That episode was when the tv died so going on that gameshow would be the chance to get a new one and they did get a new one at the end as a consulation prize.

I don't remember that. I remember when the show first started Kelly was not dumb, but actually more of a punk rock chick with some brains. Bud has always been on the 'nerdy' smart end of things, but then they turned him into a 'loser' who kept coming up with all those stupid personas in order to get girls (Grandmaster B was my personal favorite lol). I think that was the point David Faustino started getting fed up with playing Bud because people couldn't separate the loser Bud persona from the real person plus he wanted to go to college and do more behind the camera work, but the producers gave him (and Christina) a hard time about wanting the release time.

yeah, in that one after they filled her head with sports trivia they had to isolate her so she wouldn't learn anything new and forget a piece of trivia. Their plan almost worked except that when she got on the show someone showed her how the buzzer worked and it pushed the knowledge of her dad's football accomplishment out. Great episode, hilarious how that came back around on them at the moment of triumph.

One of the weird parts of the show was the role reversals. I remember in later years Kelly was no longer the dumb one, it some how became Bud.
