Me too. Every time, I feel desolate, in moments of despair, I play this video and other versions of it and each time I hear, I can feel the calm. The profoundness of the words and the thought is immense, leaving you humbled. I like this version of "The pale blue dot" too... ua-cam.com/video/zpZHUjKnDpE/v-deo.html
Heaven is not my home. Hell is not my home. And despite what anyone says. Earth will always be the place where my family, friends, and memories will always be. Its where I rode my first bike, It's where I lost my first tooth, and where I had my first kiss. Earth will always be my home. :)
That "Pale Blue Dot" Image at the beginning was actually Sagan's idea. He had to convince the Project Manager to turn the craft around and take the pic.
Its been repeated time and again, but I still have to say: Carl Sagan's words can help any being's day. No matter the trouble, neither big nor small, can give me this feeling of hope and wonder through it all. And so Mr. Sagan, as I raise my glass renewed, this one here, this one is for you.
Imagine someone builds a city. He builds it from the ground up. Every single building, wall, window, park, corner, street, bar, sidewalk. A really really big city built from scratch; and the builder says: "I built everything here FOR YOU, but you are not allowed to leave this tiny room. If you go outside, you will die". That is how stupid the "God made the universe for us to enjoy" argument sounds to me. Peace to everyone!!
This gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. So powerful, so Sagan. I just love it. I miss him. May his memory continue to inspire people to science, reality and humanism, just like he have done to me and many others. He was a great man with a great goal - to make reach out to everyone and teach about science - and he did it exceptionally well. I can't do anything but truly admire, love and respect that man. A true hero.
Carl Sagan is gone but his words and works are still and always will be a huge inspiration to us humans. Every time I see a presentation by Carl Sagan it makes me put things in perspective.
Yes, there have been countless visual interpretations of this now iconic monologue. To me, this is the finest of them all. Beautiful work. Thoughtful, unpretentious, and masterfully executed. Thank you.
this is the closest I have ever come to a "preaching" I gladly listen every day to, reminding me what a tiny part of the world I am and appreciate the life I get to live.
We are not conquerers and explorers. We are builders. We were born centuries after our world was explored and centuries before other worlds may be explored. We are builders. We do not migrate from star to star. We stand our ground and build for a better future.
It's ironic that the mind boggling achievement of getting a picture of our tiny blue pinpoint dot from billions of miles away demonstrates such a deeply humbling perspective.
This is the most beautiful video I've seen. An amazing and worthy tribute, a work of poetry - of art. It really opens your eyes to how insignificant we are, and how little our actions here matter - but how much we need to change them.
3 years have passed since I first heard those words spoken by Carl Sagan and they remain as powerful as ever. They make me want to never speak to someone in anger again. They make me want to try my best...and then try a little more They make me...well, me
I have no words to describe just how beautiful this poignant observation of the Universe is. Carl Sagan is by far one of the most inspiring teachers the world has ever had. Thanks for this!
What a very humbling video. Just shows how very small and insignificant we all are in the grand scale of things. How fragile our "pale blue dot" really is. Should we not all work in our own small way to make a better happier pleasant place to be for us all no matter how long or short our lives are. And be thankful not to a god but to the universe that we were given a time to enjoy it. Do not spoil it for future generations.
probably the best video i've seen so far. really powerful from the start. makes me wish that we could all set aside our petty differences and work to make our pale blue dot a better place for ALL living on it. an incredible video so glad i got to watch it!
WOW! Superb. Kudos to Carl Sagan, and kudos to you, Seth, for this visualization. I was awed and enthralled by Sagan's "Cosmos" in its original run on PBS in 1980. I anxiously awaited each new episode. I was 20 then, and am now making my 52 trip around the Sun. His words still resonate and captivate today as they did so many years ago. And yes, you can feel proud that you've done a little part to expose a new audience to a man many of us have known and admired for so long. Tnx, Seth. Tnx, Carl.
Carl Sagan was awesome. The series Cosmos was one of the best TV shows I've ever watched. I only wish shows like that were around nowadays. It taught me so much and I love the way that he basically brought the world of science to everyone who was even a tiny bit interested in the subject.
No matter the time I have heard it again and again, I still tear up. I haven't heard it with the other narrator, but then again, I doubt anyone else could even come close to doing it as well as Dr. Sagan himself does.
I was born while the pale blue dot image was being taken. There is something about Carl Sagan that touches me in the most visceral and eye opening ways. He is a man who can make you cry, despair and wither in insignificance and a minute later make you feel like you are in the middle of a grand display of natural beauty that has its current pinnacle in the matter it consists of contemplating it. We are star stuff contemplating the stars. Amazing human being. He moves mountains.
I love all of these Carl Sagan tribute videos but for some reason this one braught tears to my eyes like no other. I know its a complicated effort to get that reaction from an audience being an editor myself so cudos to whoever put this together. You should be proud.
I agree with you. All I'm saying is violence is never the answer even for vengeful reasons. We all need to be more understanding, tolerant, patient, compassionate, and loving to one another. We need to fix this world before it's too late.
I was waiting for you to do Pale Blue Dot. Bravo Sir. Truely a great rendition of one of the most profound messages to humanity Carl Sagan gave. Thank you
Mission Accomplished, Seth. This has to be the best version of The Pale Blue Dot that I have seen. Very moving. Brings tears to my eyes. This will be shared many times.
Almost brought tears to my eyes, which is the first time a video has done that. I'm thankful that such a man lived, and passed on his words of wisdom. I will strive to fill the void he has left in his death, and hopefully, give a fraction of what Carl's done to mankind.
I never get tired to listen this text narreted by Carl Sagan. Evrey time I listen to it, somehow I feel hope for mankind and our future in a way that religion have never done to me.
Am I the only one who feels that sicence can be as beautiful as poetry? An odd but awesome marriage where the magic of one demonstrates beauty and truth about the other. Absolutely enthalling and moving! .
really looks like sagan was voicing it specifically for this video, it's awesome. So awesome I like to watch it before I go to sleep. So right before I go to sleep I can try and see the universe, in all its complexity, in all its beauty.
Wow I could not believe the power behind this video. I must tremble at the feet of Jesus as I allow him to come in me for the greater good of Christianity and spreading his word. Bless you all, praise God!
This message was simply too beautiful.. It's sad that Mr Sagan died way too young as his was a mind needed in today's society, filled with war and violence.
Wow. Another absolute out of the park home run video. Top notch visuals paired with inspiring, thought-provoking words. His life was gone far too soon, and this is a very admirable homage to the legacy of his vision, a vision I ardently wish could penetrate the indelible urgency of religion to keep our species ignorant and in its infancy. Thank you for taking the time to make & share this with the world.
:'( I still cry when I hear him speak about the Pale Blue Dot....its hard to contemplate how big the universe really is, but Mr Sagan was one of few who could....oh, he knew so much..... He contributed so much to planetary science, and with his death, the world lost one of the most inspirational and smartest peeople.....RIP Mr Sagan.
I agree. I don't see how anyone could dislike this. I wonder if people are afraid of world peace for some reason. I want world peace and that is why I read a lot of spiritual books and love astronomy. This video puts things into a much bigger and "godly" perspective so that we can treat each other with more love and compassion. Life is a miracle and is very fragile.
Thanks for your tribute - this is so very beautiful and these words are deeply moving, even after having heard them hundreds of times. Your compilation of images and music complements them well. =)
Thank you for this, Seth. Carl Sagan is one of my biggest inspirations and this is the best adaptation of his Pale Blue Dot speech I've ever seen/heard. Thank you and keep up the fantastic work.
For once I'm glad UA-cam hasn't been so fastidious in removing the videos I've watched from my subscriptions list. This is the 4th time I've watched this and again, I'm glad I did.
Thank you very much for your time and effort in producing this beautiful tribute to Carl Sagan. I am bereft of superlatives suitable for saying how awesome this was. Good show!
FIRST TIME ON YOU TUBE AS A BELIEVER, STILL WITH MANY LOGICAL QUESTIONS ABOUT RELIGION AND FAITH, I FIND THIS VIDEO DAMN REAL EDUCATING AND THOUGHT PROVOKING THE C MAN TRUTHFULLY SUMS IT ALL UP.
Carl died when I myself was only 38 days old, and I did not discover he and his great works until many many years later. A true inspiration, genius I dare say. Though the earth is but an atom in contrast to the overwhelming gigantic size of the universe, it is the most important atom we have yet discovered, and we must preserve it, if we wish to live on.
Seth, thanks so much for sharing your talents with the world. I'm always excited to see what you will create next. Keep up the awesome work man! You are amazing!
When I was a kid I grew up catholic. I prayed the pater noster many times. Now that I am free, I listen to this, and even though I'm not inclined to reciting, my mind flows through these words with the feeling of awe, fulfillment and purpose that I always thought a prayer should have. My only regret in life is not to work as a scientist. But I still believe that we can all search for the truth. The scientific method allows us humble apes to search for it with a small flashlight, but we can.
This really touched me on such a level I never knew I had. This video can change peoples perspective and alter the way they think about pressing issues that effect us all.
Out of all the versions of 'Pale Blue Dot' on UA-cam, this is the best!
This never gets old. I watch it frequently to keep me dialed in. Sagan is missed.
Me too. Every time, I feel desolate, in moments of despair, I play this video and other versions of it and each time I hear, I can feel the calm. He lives on in our memory
To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is to never die. -Carl Sagan
He will live on for eons
Same. And I try to share it with others who haven’t seen it as often as I can.
It's like rational spirituality.
Heaven is not my home. Hell is not my home. And despite what anyone says. Earth will always be the place where my family, friends, and memories will always be. Its where I rode my first bike, It's where I lost my first tooth, and where I had my first kiss. Earth will always be my home. :)
But you 'stepped out' of a super nova.

yep. That's how I see it as well. A lot of infinite unused space surrounds the Earth. God is either stupid or doesn't fucking exist.
@@StaticBlaster ... that or she/he/it likes to isolate their experiments.

Thank you Seth Andrews for making this beautiful video of Carl Sagan's poetic thoughts.
how can ANYONE watch this and dislike it so disappointing it was beautiful
Probably believers disturbed by their insignificance
@@myrenmusic1611 well put
I got a little misty-eyed watching this. It's absolutely amazing and inspiring. Such a shame we lost such a brilliant mind. :'(
Einstein, Sagan and most recently Hawking.
His way is the only way to look at cosmos and ourselfs. His words and knowledge is the truth about us
Carl Sagan is gone but his words and works are still and always will be a huge inspiration to us humans. Every time I see a presentation by Carl Sagan it makes me put things in perspective.
Yes, there have been countless visual interpretations of this now iconic monologue. To me, this is the finest of them all. Beautiful work. Thoughtful, unpretentious, and masterfully executed. Thank you.
Very well done. I still prefer the one with the music of Ludovico Einaudi Earth Prelude.
this is the closest I have ever come to a "preaching" I gladly listen every day to, reminding me what a tiny part of the world I am and appreciate the life I get to live.
Excellent work. Thanks for the very nice compilation and sharing with the world.

It's ironic that the mind boggling achievement of getting a picture of our tiny blue pinpoint dot from billions of miles away demonstrates such a deeply humbling perspective.
When I was a kid, AI read Sagan's book.THE COSMIC CONNECTION. It said for the firsttime, humans have an accurate picture of our place in the universe.
This is the most beautiful video I've seen. An amazing and worthy tribute, a work of poetry - of art. It really opens your eyes to how insignificant we are, and how little our actions here matter - but how much we need to change them.
It always fills me with joy to listen to what Sagan wrote and yet it also fills me with sorrow.
Wouldn't hurt if everyone watched this once a day. Great message of peace from Carl!
3 years have passed since I first heard those words spoken by Carl Sagan and they remain as powerful as ever.

I remember when i first heard this and couldn't stop crying from sheer beauty.
Carl Sagan, My role model. His wisdom, Intelligence and amazing fore-thought is what I wish to have. R.I.P Carl, never forgotten.
"The Earth is where we make our stand"
Chris Beard That keyboard riff after that line is expertly placed...
Sagan is, was and forever will be a hero. His voice so comforting and soothing.
Great take on a classic . RIP Carl Sagan... May humanity one day live in peace with one another, despite our differences
What a very humbling video. Just shows how very small and insignificant we all are in the grand scale of things. How fragile our "pale blue dot" really is. If only more people thought the way you did. The world would be a much better place.
Take care.
I somehow question the given part. Humans look for the daddy image, mom however is totally ignored!
I really miss Carl Sagan. He was one of my childhood heroes. Thanks, Seth. This is just beautiful.
Thanks a lot - Merci beaucoup
These words are so powerful and moving. Its message will forever stay in my mind.

I haven't heard it with the other narrator, but then again, I doubt anyone else could even come close to doing it as well as Dr. Sagan himself does.
i watch this or a another version of it almost every day after i get home from school. I love my R.S teacher for showing this to me and my class
i have seen this video upwards of 20 times, and it never ceases to amaze me
Happy Birthday, Carl! This video always brings me to tears.
this is so damn cool. i wish Carl were still around to share his kindness and wisdom. we really need it.
I was born while the pale blue dot image was being taken.

Watching that almost made my cry. It put into words how I feel about many things. That was so beautiful, so brutally honest, so true. I am a believer.

I'll admit it. I watched this after discussing at length how my own bloody past with Christian doctrine.
I cried when I watched this. Thank you Seth.
There are so many renditions of The Pale Blue Dot talk online. This is by far the best I've seen. Well done TA!
One of the most heart warming videos I've ever had the pleasure of watching.
The only home we have ever known........ Hits me everytime.

It doesn't matter how often I see this I am always humbled. Such a small part of time and space.
Back for another viewing.. and yet again I am inspired and humbled. Sagan was a poet. Again I will say: "Well done Seth. A fitting tribute."

In my opinion, it's the best compliment to CS's Pale Blue Dot ever. Simply superb.

the earth needs more thinkers like carl.
I am shocked how much this moves me. Powerful.

Stunned and tearful, thank you
Five minutes of excellence. Presentation a bonus to what is a brilliant message, into my favourites this goes.
DAMN that's some good video editing. :D
Who would dislike this? Really? This is the best video I have ever seen.
