How I press leaves into clay to create a ceramic dish

- Nasturtium leaves are one of my favorites to use in my artwork. They are so easy to grow and so versatile- did you know that both the flowers and leaves are edible? I chuckle because I used to think of them as kind of common and ordinary. They would pop up here and there and somehow that made them seem less special. But once I started using them in my art- wow, these beautiful leaves are anything but ordinary or plain. It's a reminder to always look at things with new eyes, even the things that seem common or ones we take for granted. I love that my art work has me looking so intensely at every leaf- the delicate textures and intricate veining, their incredible growth and life cycle - they are each truly such a miracle and deserve to be celebrated.
We often stop to admire flowers, but the next time you are on a walk or in a garden, make a point to take a close look at the beauty of different leaves. Nature is an amazing artist and each leaf is as unique as a fingerprint or snowflake.
Here I press different nasturtium leaves into clay and paint them with ceramic stains. I love to watch the colors flow into each leaf- it's almost like they are springing back to life.
After painting the ceramic, I glaze the ceramic dish and fire the piece in my electric kiln. The high temperatures melt the glaze into a thin layer of glass. Real gold adds a sparkle to each leaf and to the edge of the dish. #vuvuceramics
The paint spreading into the vains is so satisfying

Thank you so much for the lovely comment 🥰❤️
That's beautiful! What do you use to colour the leaves? 🥰
Clean and nice art
This Is So Satisfying 😆
I adore your work ❤ please share the whole process, from colouring to the plate.

Thank you for sharing friend
🎨🖌😍🌸💜
Thank you so much 🥰❤️
Just gorgeous 😊
Beautiful! 😊
Is it possible to see a video or about the process after painting? (Heating, Glazing?), or maybe read some information about it? Looks like a nice art to try for fun ❤🙂
Yes, some of my videos include that part (the glaze looks like dipping into a white liquid in those videos). After that it is fired in a kiln to 2200°F/1200°C
If you look up “kiln fired pottery” you can read more about it as well 😊🌿
I love watching your video as it provide two things first is to see such a creativity and second it is so satisfying to watch
Thank you so much 🥰❤️
It looks so good ❤
That's is so satisfying and the music was the right choice. Your art touched my soul❤
So coooool!!! 😍
Боже это божественно! 💚
Just beautiful and elegant.
So satisfying to watch this. You are so creative! Personally I don't like the gold sprinkles as I feel it would be great if it was natural. But it is so pretty!

Beautiful..how do you make colours to the leaves? Is it any underglaze? You said "watercolour" but in fact, what is it?
Manda uma p mim eu amei ❤❤

❤
lilly pads in a pond❤
😍🤩👍🏼❤️
J aimerai bien en acheter trop beau
It’s beautiful, do you water down the glaze to get that effect? If so how does that affect the colour of the pigment, is the pigment lighter?
I use ceramic stains for that - and yes the effect is quite light translucent colors. I coat with a clear glaze for the finish you see
@@VuvuCeramics cool, they’re really pretty ☺️. I haven’t heard of ceramic stains before.
Where do I find ceramic stains?
So beautiful!! What kind of glaze are you using?
These are ceramic stains and underglazes coated with clear glaze
I want to learn pls I love it
What type of paint is that? Is it watercolor? How do you make it stick to ceramic?
These are ceramic stains and underglazes that I apply in the style of watercolor - after applying them, I glaze the piece and fire it in a kiln
@@VuvuCeramics never heard of it i need to show this to my ceramic teacher this looks so cool😍
Question, why can’t you just leave the leaves there? (Hehe see what I did there) but for real, is it possible to? The Color is so beautiful!
Thank you! Good question - The real leaves and flowers will dry and decompose if left there. And since this is kiln-fired ceramics, any plant matter would be completely burned away in the kiln because of the very high temperatures required for the clay and glaze (over 2200F)
So this is my way of capturing the fleeting beauty of fresh flowers 😊🌸
@@VuvuCeramics I see! Makes sense very much! Thank you! 😊
very interesting
👏
What type of paint are you using? So great, oh!
Since these are kiln fired ceramics, I use ceramic stains and underglazes- these pigments can withstand the high temperature of the kiln
👍❤️❤️❤️
Would this be possible to do somehow on a vase or something?
Yes, it is possible on any kind of piece including a vase - I do it on wheel thrown mugs as well.
Beautiful! What did you use for the shiny dots in the plate?
Thank you! The little dots and the rim are real gold- a 22kt gold overglaze that is fired in the kiln to melt and bond it to the ceramic
@@VuvuCeramics no wonder they’re so beautiful! Thank you!
كل ما تقومين به جميل جداً
Hola 😊, cómo puedo hacer eso? Osea;qué material es? No conozco nada😅
What did you use for pouring? Is that resin?
I coat the piece in ceramic glaze and then fire it in a kiln. The high temperatures of the kiln vitrify the clay and melt the glaze - the glaze transforms into a layer of glass that seals the ceramic and creates the shiny surface
Çok güzel ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Are the ceramics you pressed on made by you?
Yes they are
What kind of paint do you use? Thank you.
These are ceramic stains and underglazes- these pigments can withstand the high temperature of the kiln
What kind of leaves are those?
I want the dinner plate
Can you tell me if you paint before or after clay is dry.
lovely. just needs a mini frog to sit on it :)
Yo kisiera saver como secar esa arsiya y dek tipo es
Parece una placa de Petri con moho.😅
What clay base is it?
Can you tech me how to make it
Похоже на чашку петри
What are the white dots?
Mam wht is that white material
Can you ship it to india
😊❤🤤🇲🇽👋
Nunca es la misma pieza. Comienzas con una cosa y terminas con otra que tiene los bordes perfectos y otros dibujos. No da para creerte.
Looks like mold sorry…
