Sounds to me like he also had a shit lawyer or no lawyer at all... or didn't live in places that were at least neutral to these kinds of matters. Any decent lawyer would've gotten him some form of compensation. Honestly, I just feel bad for the kids. They didn't deserve such a terrible person as a mother. If anything, I'm hoping he called CPS on her ass.

Love gibbons-- super adorable trouble makers. I used to work with them at the zoo and the first rule was to keep minimum 5 feet between you and them. Once a squirrel ran past their enclosure and the guy jumped down and his hand just snapped out and closed on lil squirrel's tail. The critter got away, but the gibbon yanked out all the fur, and for weeks afterwards when you saw the poor guy he looked like a weird rat. 😆

Twenty years of experience as a security guard I can tell you that a perplexing percentage of pugnacious punks are not practiced pugilists; it's pathetic.
They're used to the common folk (uniformed or not) backing down when they encounter any level of violence, or even the threat of it.

A friend of my brother made a deal with his grandfather that if his truck broke down, the Grandfather would help him buy a new one. He asked my brother to wreck it. The friend played a stupid game because he then needed to explain how his truck got busted. I have no idea what story he could have told.
My brother deactivated a safety feature on a manual transmission that stopped you from shifting into reverse. Then he got the thing to top speed and went into reverse. Anyone that knows what that can do will understand how that truck is not moving.

There was a news story some years ago of a couple of women who went into a fast food restaurant and tried to pass off an obviously fake fifty dollar bill. When the guy behind the counter refused to take it, they got aggressive and went behind the counter to beat him up. He was recently released from prison and grabbed a metal bar and they got their behinds beat. Truly a play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I used to be friends with a few neighbors when I was about 14. One who was the same age as me had a younger cousin who was 11 at the time.
One summer, we had a nerf war at this neighbor's house while his younger cousin was visiting. His cousin never called hits and was a sore loser when everyone called him out on his behavior. Of course, the only logical thing to do in this situation is to try and pick a fight with me (he thought he was "stronger because he plays football" smh). His short stature wasn’t exactly the most effective against my height and weight, as I just kept hooking out his leg from under him and dropping him on the ground. Again, and again, and again, each time giving him a chance to walk away. But nope, where's the fun in that? It got to a point where his frustration peaked, and he went crying to his dad, to which everyone else had to explain what happened.
I'll be honest, I don't know what he expected the result to be, but you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes 😅

Why did the guy with the black eye try it on?
Because wandering round in public -especially at night - wearing headphones or earbuds makes you instant victim material as one of your essential defensive senses is on holiday.
It’s why he was able to drop kick the guy without him knowing it was going to happen.

The problem with alcohol it seems is that while drunk the person doesn't really realize that they are in fact impaired. I even had friends try to tell me they gamed better drunk. What it really was, was that the alcohol made them not notice or care about how badly they played while making them focus on those few moments they got lucky.

Sister and her husband believe that anyone that wants money from them is greedy and ripping them off. The list includes the bank wanting them to pay their mortgage so they decided to sell the house. Then it’s Realtors wanting a fee to sell their house so used someone who advertised with a hand written sign that they buy houses. Paid a fee, then get a promise for the money to come at a later date, stop paying the mortgage, money never comes, bank forecloses.
Decides to rent in an expensive area, decides the landlord is greedy and just wants their money, stops paying rent, ignores realtor letter because realtors are greedy and just want their money, ignores court summons and get evicted by sheriffs. End up homeless so move into a rented factory unit where sister runs a business….. stops paying rent.

When I heard the story about the Gibon, I thought it was great at first, but it made me worried, because every time I've ever heard a story like this that took place in America or involving Americans, the animal ended up euthanized. I really hope that wasn't the case here.

  • @DavidRichardson153

In fairness, I was not present for this, and the ending is probably not what most would want to hear, but I was indirectly involved, and I still find it rather hilarious. Before I get into it, let me start with two pieces of context.
First, I had just gotten ahold of a dashboard camera. It was the type that you could attach to your center mirror, plug it into the car's socket, and it would record onto an SD card - pretty easy to set up and take down if needed. It was not of particularly high quality, but depending on the specific settings (and the card used), you could get anywhere from 1 to 10 hours of continuous time-stamped decent-quality footage, so it was good for insurance claims. I got it because some @$$hole went through an intersection I was already passing through first and hit my front passenger corner; he did not wreck my car, but he had crushed that corner, and he quickly pulled out before I could catch his make or plate (luckily for me, someone else did and acted as a witness, so at least my insurance did not dock me). Anyway, I got the camera, and with the help of my older brother, I got it set up, tested it, confirmed that it worked, figured out at least some of its limits, and all that.
Second, around the time we were setting up that dashboard camera, my brother got into a similar accident (not the same @$$hole, but again, the insurance was kind). He got a rental car in the meantime, which just so happened to be a Smart car. When he got it, the shop he dropped his own car off at said it would take a day or two to fully fix, and he needed a car, but that Smart car was all the rental place had available at that time. My brother had essentially said "Screw it" and took the Smart car, even though we both knew that it was a tight fit for him.
Now the story, and bear in mind, this is from what was recorded by the dashboard camera.
The first day after figuring out the camera, my brother had to go work, and I handed him the dashboard camera (it was my weekend, so I was not going anywhere). He got it set up and was off. Well, on his way in, this giant lifted pickup truck started tailgating him - flashing its lights, honking its horn, etc. - and because this was a one-lane back road, this pickup stayed behind my brother. The video did not show how exactly it happened, but it did show my brother pulling over onto the side of the road, and from the fact that the pickup did not continue on - and that after he stopped, my brother took the camera off the mirror while it was still recording - means that both of them had pulled over. I guess that driver was really compensating for something.
Now, the earlier description of the pickup truck came from how my brother had set the camera after he had pulled over. It mostly showed him and his side of the Smart car, but outside, it showed that lifted pickup and, in keeping with the usual correlation, its tiny driver having gotten out, and that idiot looked like he wanted a fight (seriously, you can rather reliably trace a correlation that shows that the bigger the pickup truck, the smaller the driver). Well, my brother was not going to just sit and wait for the idiot, so he got out of the Smart car too.
Oh, I should have mentioned that my brother is 6'4", he is 220 pounds of muscle, he knows how to fight (thanks to us having been in and still training in the same martial arts program for over 10 years by this point - this was nearly 10 years ago), and because he prefers to keep everything at home, he was in his full police uniform, complete with body armor underneath his top, a service belt, and his force-issued Glock 21. And yes, all of that somehow fit in this Smart car. I tell you, what the dashboard camera caught was practically a scene out of Looney Tunes, complete the idiot quickly coming to a stop and cranking his neck back so that he could struggle to look up at my brother's face, all while sporting the most epic "Oh, sh^t" look on his face.
So to recap, this tiny idiot driving a giant pickup truck wanted to start a fight with a Smart car driver, only to discover that the Smart car driver is a giant police officer in full uniform - complete with weapons and cuffs - with a body that looks like it can send him three counties away with just one punch or kick.
About all that was missing was for the man to break apart into multiple pieces out of sheer terror before instantly coming back together in order to run away screaming for his life. Well, at least he got the "running away" part down. And while the camera did not quite show it, my brother gave him the "I am going to track you down, and I have a nice long plan for how to deal with you" psycho stare as he tried (and ultimately failed) to get back into his truck and slowly drive away.
I like to think that the experience put quite the dampener on this idiot's "I'm a real tough guy" attitude and that for at least a while, he had to look at every small car and ask himself, "Does it have a driver that could set a new world record for the shot put with me as the shot put?"
