That godrick knight with the spear in that very first camp still beats me like a fat kid for lunch money. 🤣 I'm getting better with enemies I can easily stagger but heavies like those knights or crucible knights make me panic roll and just go full spaghetti.
I am finding Elden Ring so easy that I died due to being so bored and fed up with copy and paste bosses that I forgot about my 806k runes. I lost the lot because my sheephorse threw me off a cliff.
I won't forget the moment I stepped out of this castle after I was done with this place. It was like seeing sunlight after being underground for months. I kissed the ground, summoned Torrent, galloped and jumped for a good few minutes, then set on the cliff and took in the huge and gorgeous view, thanking the fingers for seeing something other than concrete and stone at last. That castle will haunt me in my dreams.
I remember exploring and just being amazed by how absolutely humongous the castle was. Everytime I though I'd seen it all I kept finding new areas to explore. This was the first dungeon and by God did it live up to the hype.

@@dorharp I remember when I first discovered the sewers (where you find that weird Godwinoctopus corpse thing) and I'm just thinking to myself: how the fuck is there still more to see here? But because of that I was a little disappointed in how others dungeons were significantly smaller than Godricks castle haha. For example, castle redmane is cool but compared to the first dungeon it's teeny tiny.

But I don't thing I would've wanted every dungeon to be as big as Stormveil. It was really cool to discover how ridiculously enormous this place is but that sht was tedious man. I think I enjoy the open zones more, with a bit of dungeon adventuring here and there..
I remember killing Margit the first time and feeling like such a ninja badass walking into the next area only to be instantly slaughtered by birds. Good times.
Even on my second playthrough with a brand new character. Defeated Margit in one try only to be killed by birds less than a minute later. Good times indeed.
I struggled so much with him. Then I made a new character and took him out on the first try at a much lower level. I was feeling good about myself until I proceeded to die many times to that knight in the locked room (which my first character had killed on the first try).

Was much easier but I sure as hell can understand all the trials and tribulations most people went through there. Especially fighting melee vs. the chickens. Thank god for my sorcery and a meaty shield. Margit and Gordrick died in one try.
This game is so damn massive. This has to be the most "full" open world. I finally have the entire map unlocked, still on my first play through at level 240 and I keep finding unexplored areas/quests.
It's absolute definition of "the more you put in, the more you get out" The game does not waste your time, it rewards it. Something so many other open worlds could learn from. This game is such a treat.

The last time a game made me feel like this is when I played Pokemon Silver as a kid and discovered that they added the entire Kanto region. That feeling of "whoa, there's even MORE?!" was amazing and I'm so grateful for Elden Ring for letting me relive that as an adult

It is also so real in all kind of different crafts. One guy using gloves, safety goggles, safety shoes and ear protections to cut some steel ... other guy touches stuff bare hand in sneakers, closes eyes (maybe ... and that surely helps against steel splinter) and if you ask him if he shouldn't wear ear protection he answers with "WHAT DID YOU SAY?" ... nvm .....

A real suit of late medieval plate armour had its weight distributed across the entire body, allowing a physically fit wearer to run, mount or dismount a horse, jump, roll or even climb the underside of a ladder. So yeah, it doesn't take superhuman strength to do that.
Fun fact, Gostok, is the one locking you in there. The moment the door closes you hear a faint laugh from Gostoc outside. If you kill him before entering the castle you are not locked in the room with the knight.
@@vagkalosynakis True, BUT if you kill Gostok at any point before completing Nepheli's questline, you miss out on getting the extra Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone he sells. Even if you get his Bell Bearing, it won't be in his inventory unless he survives.

Something I only found out recently is it's that thieving a-hole Gastoc that closes the door behind you with the knight - it's his laugh you can hear. If you kill him before it apparently the door isn't shut and locked! Love all the little touches in this game.
I killed him by accident, saw him sitting at the chapel roof, thought it's an enemy so I backstabbed him and he fell into the abyss xD got 9k+ runes for him and some items
@@adrenolife1460 If you kill him, you get them back. But you lose access to his store (not sure if he have a ball bearing for the twin hags with a selfie stick) and won't get a draconic shard to upgrade a weapon to 25.
You finally get used to birds, make peace with them, and then there are the Stormhawks... Literally protecting a dragon that feels weaker than 4 of them.

Every single one of these scenes is 100% accurate to almost everyone’s first trip through the castle.... except maybe game grumps who seem determined to skip every single major boss and run all the way to the end.
The bird scenes were accurate for me.. though I was so paranoid after I got inside, that I found the sneakiest route first and skipped all the siege weapons and such. First time I saw that troll at the end, I had come in through the warrior pot area, so I snuck up behind them.
I m taking thé game pretty seriously, and i m folowing a simple rule : I cant passe anything i i havnt killed it à l'état once. And when it come to groupe, i cant passe it if i havent kelled them all in one row. Beside those, i m free. And by the gods, i love this game !
Yeah hes got it down to the T in his own artistic way. I just beat stormveil castle a few days ago after killing everything in limgrave and weeping peninsula, making myself OP as fuck. Only time I died was right before the lion/dog after that damn fire ballista drained all my potions. Level 70 and bloodhound fang +5, it was still nerve racking.

The Miracle Max quote at the beginning was perfect. The Doakes Knight in the dark room got me as well. The birds were spot on. Can't wait to see the seizure gargoyles from Raya Lucaria. Only thing missing was the ballista corpse drag to get to the first divine tower.
0:01 Stormveil castle. First legacy dungeon most people will get to in the game. It's quite an amazing location. And it looks gorgeous. 0:02 Also bush physics because Stormveil as name implies is in middle of storm. This place is very windy which could be related to it's lore and certain Storm Lord who was beaten by First Elden Lord Godfrey (who may be a certain being called Stomhawk King). 0:08 Little Carbot wants some help. One of them a mage cosplay and the other still wears the Prisoner set you get at the start... he is not going to have an easier time let me tell you that. 0:16 This Merchant gets it. And yes, those weird santa looking guys are merchants and their lore gets quite dark, but that is for later sections of this game. 0:22 Trying to get on top of rubble is a common thing in this game as you can see. Jump button opened up A LOT of possibilities. 0:24 And here we have the Birds. One of the most annoying enemies in the entire game. They are absolute cancer to fight because of them flying constantly and hitting you with two swords on their legs that do LOTS of damage. FUCK BIRDS!! 0:26 And it's VERY easy to fall in this area which is mostly caused by fucking birds. 0:29 Another Trumpet guy/Hejnał man. This guy is very easy to aggro and his trumpet makes everyone and their grandma aware of your presence. It's annoying. 0:35 In this case it's birds and those two enemies. They can be quite hard to take on when fighting both at once with the Hejnał man behind them. Also fuck birds. 0:39 This item you can get by exploring the outer wall of the castle and finding a good hole. You can't get it from the inside. And IIRC this is nothing that great. Also you can die while trying to get it. 0:48 Behind this door you can find a key that you need to progress through this section of the castle. The problem is that you get locked inside by a certain, one handed stalker and you are at the mercy of a Banished Knight who is a STRONG kind of knight. Once you beat him you can get the key from the corpse there. It's also quite hard to see him because of how dark it is there. 0:54 And here we have the worst kind of birds. 0:57 The birds with exploding barrels. The moment they see you they will throw it at you which may or may not cause an instant death. Fuck those birds. Good thing it's a one time thing. Too bad there are like 3 or 4 of those there. 1:00 And there are also birds that can breathe fire because FUCK YOU. 1:02 This area you get to a bit later in Stormveil. The patrolling Banished Knight here is quite tough so your best bet is to backstab him and spam to death, otherwise you'll have a bad time. 1:06 The table itself is surprisingly well kept. 1:13 But like every other piece of furniture in Lands Between one small tap on it causes it to break into little pieces. The knight itself may or may not ignore it because they are as many other enemies shortsighted as hell. 1:18 Did I mention how awful birds are? 1:20 One of the final sections of the castle is protected by 2 soldiers and a giant. A tip. You can lure this giant to the area before and there is a rock this giant can break which will give you access to some Smithing Stones needed for upgrading weapons. 1:23 They can also aggro quite easily, much like mr. Trumpet. 1:26 This giant will follow you for a while so better take care of the enemies in the previous area if you don't want to have a bad time. 1:30 Those huts can be a good hiding place. 1:42 And don't worry. They can't actually break those like this... I think. 1:48 And then it goes back to where it was because player is now outside of it's area. 1:51 The horror... The horror... 1:56 And one more tip. You DON'T need to fight the giant. In the opposite room you can get to an elevator that takes you up from where you can get to the grace next to the boss room of Stormveil, but on the way... 1:57 You will meet Pot Boys. They are basically the mushroom people of this game (in DS1 Mushroom people were some of the silliest and scariest enemies because one punch from a Big Mushroom could easily one shot you. They were One punch Shrooms. Those guys are similar, although less dangerous).

Currently at "surprise motha" room. Felt pretty big after beating Margit second try, first time going through that door and hearing it lock behind me I thought "bring it, I am the delivery boy of death" but in fact - I died.
If it helps you, you can also grab the key in there and run out after the first time (and depending on your build, you can also just parry and riposte that knight twice for a kill).

I fluked out and by shear luck picked up the key, but I'm trying to not bypass any enemies (except a few huge things and some dragons on my way to euthanize an old dying dragon.) I'm playing a Samurai so I don't think I have parry and riposte options with my Uchigatana.
@@HazzardThom for my Samurai build I actually carry a shield and a second Uchigatana in my right hand, which gives a lot of flexibility: you can always choose sword + shield for extremely mobile or aggressive enemies like assassins or knights, twohand a katana for big opponents that only let you get occasional hits in and dual wield for bulky enemies with longer downtimes that let you get in multiple jump attacks.
@@nicolaistuhlmuller8718 I saw some stuff about using a no skill shield in my left hand to keep unsheath, I haven't felt like I need a shield yet and have been just rolling with dodges. I just picked up a second uchigatana and realized I can still use unsheath while dual wielding. This seems like definitely the way to go to be able to lay down the bleed stacks fast and still be able to unsheath. What are the disadvantages of dual wielding two uchigatana vs two handing one?

@@Dargoneth when i was in stormveil castle, i was actually able to kill them fairly easily using unsheath on the katana since it was a vertical slash. But they are definitely hard af.
You'd really think, with a game this MASSIVE, you wouldn't remember so many of the locations, items, and enemies. Especially in the beginning of the game. But every single video is 100% accurate. This is how good the game is and how good Carbot is!
I remember the first time I fought that first Banished Knight...walked in, heard a smart-ass laugh and suddenly I was getting wailed on. Almost killed the knight...then I got stuck and died. Avoided that room like the plague.
This was great! from the princess bride reference to the memes to just the overall *BAM YOU DEAD FOOL* energy from the foes. Especially the birds, I loved how the birds just kept getting nastier and nastier. And I havent even played Elden Ring so I don't even get as much context as other people but I can appreciate all of it none-the-less
Warhawks are an absolute nightmare in the early game. They do shockingly strong damage, they fly and are very evasive, and with how much you have to maintain your FP, you will have to resort to melee against them more commonly than you would expect.
@VaderxG I do agree. Once you know where they drop from and where they spawn, it is way easier to deal with them. But in the beginning when you still have crappy gear, you are still finding grace's, and you make it to Stormveil castle for the first time, They just fly down and reck your butt every chance they can. I don't have an issue with them anymore, but I am most certain that at least a majority of players at the early game are gonna have a few deaths to these hell birds.
I love how bouncy and happy the trees look. The animation for those trees being blown in the wind is hilariously over the top. In game I mean. This parody is 100% accurate. When I first saw it, it made me think of the Singing Bush from The Three Amigos.
For those who haven't played: quite obviously, the episode is about entering the Stormveil castle - second location you get to in the game. 0:19 - the front gate is closed, you need to take a hidden path (there should be an NPC which tells you that) 0:21 - this game finally has normal jumping (now done by one button instead of a bizzare double-sprint combo in the previous souls- games), but it came with a price - now you need to climb up wall wrecks, and it is far from clear whether you are not supposed to go somewhere or you just can't pull off a tricky jump 0:25 - the hidden path. If you stray away from the road, you will get attacked by eagles with blades attached to their legs. (ingame those are long knives replacing feet, not ice skates). They will either kill you (they deal a lot of damage), or make you run off a cliff 0:28 - after getting through the eagle section, you need to go through wooden walkways outside the castle walls - the first enemy you meet attracts other enemies by blowing a horn. Ingame, it only affects two enemies on walkways, not the birds 0:38 - inside the castle there is a hole in the wall, where some loot lies. Whatever you do, you won't be able to access it. It may seem that jumping from the platform outside will get you there, but it won't (as shown). You will get a chance to access it further on, but by that time, you'll most certainly forget about it 0:47 - near the mentioned hole there is a dark room. A strong enemy awaits in there, and the door closes once you enter. There is an option to sneak past him and get a key required to progress further, but the first time he'll certainly scare the crap out of you 0:55 - fast forward to the next location, now these eagles carry explosive barrels. Moreover, they are placed on a narrow rooftop among other explosive barrels, which will all explode in chain if a barrel lands near. And yes, they will attack you with blades after they get rid of a barrel. A flamethrower ones exist too, but they are in the other part of the castle 1:04 - fast forward to the room past the grafted monstrousity - there is a knight that patrols the room with a long table. You can sneak past, but by that time you will have already killed a few 1:20 - fast forward to... i don't even know what is it supposed to represent. There is a castle yard guarded by many enemies and a sword-wielding troll, but it looks way different 1:55 - kettle enemies. There is a room with a few little ones and a huge one. However, they don't really follow you and are quite brittle

I accidentally pulled the knight close to the broken platform and he fell downstairs so I looted his chest and he was looking at me angry

Those 2 storm knights on that one ledge area were the bane of my existence. Pretty sure I've lost at least 40k runes to them.

147h and level 182 to beat the whole game where Malenia, blade of Miquella was the last piece of puzzle to fall into place. That win was epic.

Stormveil was a nightmare man. Especially with those stupid knights that can somehow jump around and run in a 100 pounds of armor.

A real suit of late medieval plate armour had its weight distributed across the entire body, allowing a physically fit wearer to run, mount or dismount a horse, jump, roll or even climb the underside of a ladder. So yeah, it doesn't take superhuman strength to do that.

Fun fact, Gostok, is the one locking you in there. The moment the door closes you hear a faint laugh from Gostoc outside. If you kill him before entering the castle you are not locked in the room with the knight.

@@vagkalosynakis True, BUT if you kill Gostok at any point before completing Nepheli's questline, you miss out on getting the extra Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone he sells. Even if you get his Bell Bearing, it won't be in his inventory unless he survives.

Something I only found out recently is it's that thieving a-hole Gastoc that closes the door behind you with the knight - it's his laugh you can hear. If you kill him before it apparently the door isn't shut and locked! Love all the little touches in this game.

I killed him by accident, saw him sitting at the chapel roof, thought it's an enemy so I backstabbed him and he fell into the abyss xD got 9k+ runes for him and some items
However, if you let that bastard live... you can buy a +10 smithing stone off him by the end... but just one, and some other crap.

You finally get used to birds, make peace with them, and then there are the Stormhawks... Literally protecting a dragon that feels weaker than 4 of them.

Every single one of these scenes is 100% accurate to almost everyone’s first trip through the castle.... except maybe game grumps who seem determined to skip every single major boss and run all the way to the end.
The bird scenes were accurate for me.. though I was so paranoid after I got inside, that I found the sneakiest route first and skipped all the siege weapons and such. First time I saw that troll at the end, I had come in through the warrior pot area, so I snuck up behind them.
I m taking thé game pretty seriously, and i m folowing a simple rule : I cant passe anything i i havnt killed it à l'état once. And when it come to groupe, i cant passe it if i havent kelled them all in one row. Beside those, i m free.

Yeah hes got it down to the T in his own artistic way. I just beat stormveil castle a few days ago after killing everything in limgrave and weeping peninsula, making myself OP as fuck. Only time I died was right before the lion/dog after that damn fire ballista drained all my potions. Level 70 and bloodhound fang +5, it was still nerve racking.
I fucking love these Elden Ring vids. Each part nails the genuine experience while turning the stress and strain into parody comedy gold. I can watch 'em over and over and bust out laughing everytime.

0:01 Stormveil castle. First legacy dungeon most people will get to in the game. It's quite an amazing location. And it looks gorgeous.
0:02 Also bush physics because Stormveil as name implies is in middle of storm. This place is very windy which could be related to it's lore and certain Storm Lord who was beaten by First Elden Lord Godfrey (who may be a certain being called Stomhawk King).
0:08 Little Carbot wants some help. One of them a mage cosplay and the other still wears the Prisoner set you get at the start... he is not going to have an easier time let me tell you that.
0:16 This Merchant gets it. And yes, those weird santa looking guys are merchants and their lore gets quite dark, but that is for later sections of this game.
0:22 Trying to get on top of rubble is a common thing in this game as you can see. Jump button opened up A LOT of possibilities.
0:24 And here we have the Birds. One of the most annoying enemies in the entire game. They are absolute cancer to fight because of them flying constantly and hitting you with two swords on their legs that do LOTS of damage. FUCK BIRDS!!
0:26 And it's VERY easy to fall in this area which is mostly caused by fucking birds.
0:29 Another Trumpet guy/Hejnał man. This guy is very easy to aggro and his trumpet makes everyone and their grandma aware of your presence. It's annoying.
0:35 In this case it's birds and those two enemies. They can be quite hard to take on when fighting both at once with the Hejnał man behind them. Also fuck birds.
0:39 This item you can get by exploring the outer wall of the castle and finding a good hole. You can't get it from the inside. And IIRC this is nothing that great. Also you can die while trying to get it.
0:48 Behind this door you can find a key that you need to progress through this section of the castle. The problem is that you get locked inside by a certain, one handed stalker and you are at the mercy of a Banished Knight who is a STRONG kind of knight. Once you beat him you can get the key from the corpse there. It's also quite hard to see him because of how dark it is there.
0:54 And here we have the worst kind of birds.
0:57 The birds with exploding barrels. The moment they see you they will throw it at you which may or may not cause an instant death. Fuck those birds. Good thing it's a one time thing. Too bad there are like 3 or 4 of those there.
1:00 And there are also birds that can breathe fire because FUCK YOU.
1:02 This area you get to a bit later in Stormveil. The patrolling Banished Knight here is quite tough so your best bet is to backstab him and spam to death, otherwise you'll have a bad time.
1:06 The table itself is surprisingly well kept.
1:13 But like every other piece of furniture in Lands Between one small tap on it causes it to break into little pieces. The knight itself may or may not ignore it because they are as many other enemies shortsighted as hell.
1:18 Did I mention how awful birds are?
1:20 One of the final sections of the castle is protected by 2 soldiers and a giant. A tip. You can lure this giant to the area before and there is a rock this giant can break which will give you access to some Smithing Stones needed for upgrading weapons.
1:23 They can also aggro quite easily, much like mr. Trumpet.
1:26 This giant will follow you for a while so better take care of the enemies in the previous area if you don't want to have a bad time.
1:30 Those huts can be a good hiding place.
1:42 And don't worry. They can't actually break those like this... I think.
1:48 And then it goes back to where it was because player is now outside of it's area.

1:56 And one more tip. You DON'T need to fight the giant. In the opposite room you can get to an elevator that takes you up from where you can get to the grace next to the boss room of Stormveil, but on the way...
1:57 You will meet Pot Boys. They are basically the mushroom people of this game (in DS1 Mushroom people were some of the silliest and scariest enemies because one punch from a Big Mushroom could easily one shot you. They were One punch Shrooms. Those guys are similar, although less dangerous).
0:39 IIRC those are like 5 sleep arrows or something equally as useless since you eventually get the ability to make as many as you want.

Currently at "surprise motha" room.
Felt pretty big after beating Margit second try, first time going through that door and hearing it lock behind me I thought "bring it, I am the delivery boy of death" but in fact - I died.
If it helps you, you can also grab the key in there and run out after the first time (and depending on your build, you can also just parry and riposte that knight twice for a kill).
@@nicolaistuhlmuller8718 Thanks! I fluked out and by shear luck picked up the key, but I'm trying to not bypass any enemies (except a few huge things and some dragons on my way to euthanize an old dying dragon.)
I'm playing a Samurai so I don't think I have parry and riposte options with my Uchigatana.
@@HazzardThom for my Samurai build I actually carry a shield and a second Uchigatana in my right hand, which gives a lot of flexibility: you can always choose sword + shield for extremely mobile or aggressive enemies like assassins or knights, twohand a katana for big opponents that only let you get occasional hits in and dual wield for bulky enemies with longer downtimes that let you get in multiple jump attacks.
@@nicolaistuhlmuller8718 I saw some stuff about using a no skill shield in my left hand to keep unsheath, I haven't felt like I need a shield yet and have been just rolling with dodges. I just picked up a second uchigatana and realized I can still use unsheath while dual wielding. This seems like definitely the way to go to be able to lay down the bleed stacks fast and still be able to unsheath.
What are the disadvantages of dual wielding two uchigatana vs two handing one?

@@Dargoneth when i was in stormveil castle, i was actually able to kill them fairly easily using unsheath on the katana since it was a vertical slash. But they are definitely hard af.

I remember the first time I fought that first Banished Knight...walked in, heard a smart-ass laugh and suddenly I was getting wailed on. Almost killed the knight...then I got stuck and died. Avoided that room like the plague.

This was great! from the princess bride reference to the memes to just the overall *BAM YOU DEAD FOOL* energy from the foes. Especially the birds, I loved how the birds just kept getting nastier and nastier. And I havent even played Elden Ring so I don't even get as much context as other people but I can appreciate all of it none-the-less
Warhawks are an absolute nightmare in the early game. They do shockingly strong damage, they fly and are very evasive, and with how much you have to maintain your FP, you will have to resort to melee against them more commonly than you would expect.
@VaderxG I do agree. Once you know where they drop from and where they spawn, it is way easier to deal with them. But in the beginning when you still have crappy gear, you are still finding grace's, and you make it to Stormveil castle for the first time, They just fly down and reck your butt every chance they can. I don't have an issue with them anymore, but I am most certain that at least a majority of players at the early game are gonna have a few deaths to these hell birds.
Imagine my satisfaction when I discovered you could parry them, and that they fall stunned to the ground when you do.
Love how the fare in the castle's dining room consisted of finger sandwiches, cups of coffee, and a partially eaten pan of lasagna.

I love how bouncy and happy the trees look. The animation for those trees being blown in the wind is hilariously over the top. In game I mean. This parody is 100% accurate. When I first saw it, it made me think of the Singing Bush from The Three Amigos.

For those who haven't played: quite obviously, the episode is about entering the Stormveil castle - second location you get to in the game.
0:19 - the front gate is closed, you need to take a hidden path (there should be an NPC which tells you that)
0:21 - this game finally has normal jumping (now done by one button instead of a bizzare double-sprint combo in the previous souls- games), but it came with a price - now you need to climb up wall wrecks, and it is far from clear whether you are not supposed to go somewhere or you just can't pull off a tricky jump
0:25 - the hidden path. If you stray away from the road, you will get attacked by eagles with blades attached to their legs. (ingame those are long knives replacing feet, not ice skates). They will either kill you (they deal a lot of damage), or make you run off a cliff
0:28 - after getting through the eagle section, you need to go through wooden walkways outside the castle walls - the first enemy you meet attracts other enemies by blowing a horn. Ingame, it only affects two enemies on walkways, not the birds
0:38 - inside the castle there is a hole in the wall, where some loot lies. Whatever you do, you won't be able to access it. It may seem that jumping from the platform outside will get you there, but it won't (as shown). You will get a chance to access it further on, but by that time, you'll most certainly forget about it
0:47 - near the mentioned hole there is a dark room. A strong enemy awaits in there, and the door closes once you enter. There is an option to sneak past him and get a key required to progress further, but the first time he'll certainly scare the crap out of you
0:55 - fast forward to the next location, now these eagles carry explosive barrels. Moreover, they are placed on a narrow rooftop among other explosive barrels, which will all explode in chain if a barrel lands near. And yes, they will attack you with blades after they get rid of a barrel. A flamethrower ones exist too, but they are in the other part of the castle
1:04 - fast forward to the room past the grafted monstrousity - there is a knight that patrols the room with a long table. You can sneak past, but by that time you will have already killed a few
1:20 - fast forward to... i don't even know what is it supposed to represent. There is a castle yard guarded by many enemies and a sword-wielding troll, but it looks way different
1:55 - kettle enemies. There is a room with a few little ones and a huge one. However, they don't really follow you and are quite brittle
I watch the entire series every time a new episode is out and the birds cooing while making TNT will always make me laugh
