Many times you see these things and it's clear the celeb is in "Auto" mode, with kind of a glazed look on their face, simply spitting back the types of responses they're expected to give. But if you look at this one closely, Matt Damon's attitude, expressions, and mannerisms clearly seem to indicate he's fully 'dialed in' .

    Yes Malkovich did a bad exaggerated accent on purpose(as Matt imitates) and everyone on the set (excluding Matt) applauded. "When you get to that point and no one gives you a straight answer it can be dangerous." Seems like some comments didn't get the point or exaggeration.

    • @skins4thewin
      @skins4thewin 4 роки тому +22

      Not sure I follow. Pretty sure Matt meant that he was so famous and popular that nobody had the heart to tell him it was a bad scene or accent and that can be dangerous. What else could Matt possibly mean?

    • @Razagul319

      @@skins4thewin think you're filming something and you need some music, now pick the greatest musician that you personally love and ask em to write you a musical score for your film. That musician will study your film and give you a sample of what they think your film needs. You will listen and because he/she is your icon of music or whatever, you'll gush over it saying omg its beautiful and perfect and etc etc. But the musician him/herself knows that its not complete and in all possibility its shit compared to what it can be and they need your feed back
      but you're too busy applauding and saying its wonderful to give any kind of real critique, and you stunt the musician's ability to create something truly wonderful.
      That's the dangerous bit. It's not that he's a bad actor, but if everyone is applauding you and in love with you. You're never gonna get the critique and honest feed back you need to take your skill/performance/whatever to the next level.

    • @89strangelove
      @89strangelove 4 роки тому +33

      no actually, everyone besides Matt thought he was great when he was in fact bad. And upon Matt's reaction, John realizes it's bad, and says "I'm a terrible actor". Basically he too realizes that it's not working. But it's all okay, because it's brave and sweet to take chances. Apparently he toned it down and found the right voice for the character.

      @@inscrutianaIII'm not sure this is really relevant, but I was told by a voice-acting coach that her observation was the people who nailed jobs were people who came up with original takes on a character -- how their voice would be different or their emotions would be over the top or they'd be cool or cruel or soft spoken or ... you know... there would be this defining thing about them... and NONE of it would be in the script, it was just an approach to take, and those people were the ones who would fearlessly do their conception, their original take on the character and go 110% all-in, and an amazing number of times, the director and/or producers would just be floored by the bravery of doing that, and be mulling with each other about how they hadn't seen the character quite like that.... and next day.... the actor would get the call saying they got the role. In large part, just by being committed and fearless.
