Kingdom Death: Monster is a fully cooperative tabletop hobby game experience. Set in a unique nightmarish world devoid of most natural resources, you control a settlement at the dawn of its existence. Fight monsters, craft weapons and gear, and develop your settlement to ensure your survival from generation to generation.
Campaign System
Embark alone or with up to 3 friends (5 with game variant) on a 5-30-lantern-year campaign, with each year consisting of a cycle of hunt, showdown, and settlement phases. The settlement phase is an intricate civilization building game in which you spend very limited resources to build buildings, research new technologies, train your warriors, and set up your strategy for survival. During the hunt, you'll encounter a series of stories in a "choose your own adventure" style journey through various events and encounters. Finally, when you meet the monster you're pursuing, you'll engage it in an a massive arena-style battle where only one party is going to survive. If your party lives, you'll be able to bring the spoils back home to use in expanding your settlement.
Monster AI System
Each of the 7 monsters included are controlled by their own pair of decks that scale to 3 levels of difficulty (except for the final encounter, which has only 1 level and it's HARD!). Every encounter, even with the same monster, is highly variable and no two showdowns will resolve the same way. Players will have to plan their gear and keep their minds sharp to prevail.
Gear System
In Kingdom Death: Monster, survivors will craft gear from resources earned from defeating monsters or found on their hunt. Each survivor has a 3x3 gear grid. Selection and arrangement of your gear cards is critical, as many provided bonuses and activate special rules when aligned correctly.
Story Event System
40+ Story Events plus over 100 hunt encounters will shape and guide your campaign. Story Events detail important evolutions in your civilization, introduce new monsters, and provide rich detail for your campaign. Some will trigger automatically as you progress through the campaign, but most will be entirely based on choices players make.
Story Events cover everything from setting up and fighting a monster to key events that happen within the overall story. Some are triggered directly from the timeline and others from choices you make in game.

RULES CORRECTIONS | It is amazing now that we are 14 episodes in just how much we have learned along the way! We made some simple mistakes in this episode, some assumptions, and a advantages judgment call or two. Such is KDM. Bellow is the list of mistakes we have found in our campaign so far!
Big Campaign Rules (Worth always reading)
- New Arc Survivors do not get a Knowledge (just the starting survivors do).
- Fighting Arts always trigger Valueless even if they are named.
- Founding Stones do not wound if there is no Crit location!
- Monsters with range attacks move as far away as they can!
Episode Specific Rules (minor details)
- We Should have rolled a random hunt event after herb gathering!
- The first Coagulated hit location was not a wound and would not have happened.
- My insanity house rule at the start is probably wrong . . .
Remember we are paying this Ly1 for the first time! There is a lot going on and lot to follow :) we will continue to update this rules list and we get more and more accurate as the game moves forward!

1:34:30 - you forgot to gain a disorder when gaining an Eye of Immortal

How did you get herb gathering? If i remember correctly you need sickle to have it on the hunt board.
Yes, we should have rolled on it - we have them mixed in and normally just roll a random event. We catch this in a future episode.

Great episode! If I can give just a little suggestion, a different background music (maybe darker and moody) would better fit the atmosphere of KDM. Anyway, can't wait for another episode!

im glad you guys are doing a run through of this campaign, I sadly cant really manage an in person session of KDM so im just waiting for it to get added to the simulator, great way to see what its like to play this campaign though.
You can do it!
On 1:03:05 the reflex says, "full move the monster to the left" and you moved it to the right. Had you moved it to the left, none of your survivors would've been hit.
On 1:08:50 -- 7 on a 1d5 is 4, not 3. 1d5 is 1d10,. divided by 2 and rounded *up* (so 1-2 is 1, 3-4 is 2, 5-6 is 3, 7-8 is 4 and 9-10 is 5. All in all, equal chance to get any number between 1 and 5, which is what 1d5 is supposed to do). If you were to round down, then getting a result of 1, 2, 3 and 4 would still have 20% each (as it should), but a 5 would only come on a natural 10 (so only 10%) and a natural 1 would produce a 0 (because 1 divided by 2 rounded down is 0), which isn't even supposed to be possible on a 1d5.
On 1:27:30 -- the croc has a negative movement token, so only moves 5.

Also, not sure if you’ve caught it or not, but I don’t think you can give the Bone Darts to the scout. It says that gear must have the “scout” keyword to be in that gear grid.

Oooof, the intimacy
Something that isnt apparent when first playing but you have opportunities to use survival in between monster attacks and targeting. Whenever an AI card has an arrow as a seprator between things is when you can spend survival. For example if a monster targets someone that will die then you can spend a survival to dash away, monster already taegeted so will chase that survivor.

I was going crazy over this "death" at 55:20. Luckily you fixed it. But still dash would be better choice and guarantee survival. Obviously choosing terrified target in first place was interesting desicion.
At 1.08:30 she was correct. You gained insanity from brain trauma so it is exactly scenario described on card.
1:29:17 :pretty sure you cannot automatically wound with founding stone in this scenario
Haha, yep for sure :) this was only our Third time fighting the Croc so we were still figuring out some elements. Much cleaner now!
At 56:38 when someone died, why did they get two endeavor’s?
One of the innovations we chose gives 2 endevours for a death in the showdown and one from the hunt.

Can you critically wound a coagulated hit location if it's not in the right spot?
I don't know . . . but, I assume so. The founding stone has no specific range or location it is hitting. I can throw it from anywhere on the board so why can't I hit any spot?
@@Quackalope I genuinely don't know myself, I was more referring to the situation where you are hitting the monster in melee in the wrong spot. Because "critical wound" is defined as a very different thing than "wound" in KDM, I'm not sure how it interacts in this situation.
Oh, yea you have to be hitting from the right area. You don't get a chance for a crit roll if you are in the wrong space.@@YT_Lucks
@quackalope I believe you can not dash if there is no flow, so in 1:15 you could not have moved away from the rolling crock

The evasion and accuracy modifiers on the scout are permanment, they aren't tokens so they don't go away. Gaining a fighting art requires you to roll on a chart, its actually quite difficult to do and gives you systemic pressure +1 before you even roll the dice. New survivors don't gain knowledges. Monster Grease costs 2 organs not one. You should have had two more endeavors due to the deaths in Intamacy. That's mistakes I noticed in the set up/settlement section for this episode.
From the hunt phase.. The scouts pack is heavy so minus 1 from his roll to cross the river. Should have rolled a extra hunt event after herb gathering.
The showdown, Apathetic died, he was terrified thus guardless and unable to dodge hits. @1:03 you moved right not left..1:08 flee is a brain trauma, you don't get insanity you take 1 damage each. 1:28 Bellowing cannot dash you already dashed that round. 1:29 you cannot hit with the founding stone from that spot, you'd have to move to gain a line of target on that part of the mini, look how ranged attacks work with the croc. 1:31 you can only get a crit against a Parry location, all other results count as failures. I'm 99% sure you had your selfish survivor encouraging a bunch of times.. not being able to see the Character sheets its impossible to know for sure, but I am positive you were encouraging from just about everywhere.
