My vote is for a full review as well, once you’ve had time to put more mileage on them and can give more detailed comments on Odyssey vs Epic vs Peg, etc. from an on foot running perspective, rather than just differences in construction. Keep up the awesome work!
I’ve got 25km on a new pair of Odyssey so far and really liking them, but considering picking up Epics as well. I may be in the minority, but actually dislike my Peg 34 (gave up on them after 75km), but still interested in Peg 35. But if I’m being honest, Peg Turbo is really the shoe I’m curious about this year (baby 4%??).
to add to the confusion here: I got a pair of these at a Nike store yesterday and the name on the stickers inside the shoe was "Nike glide react". The sales people also referred to it as glide react when requesting the shoes. They also feel very stable for me, I'm a very heavy overpronator. This one also has the same price point and was released almost exactly one year after the lunarglide 9 it's gonna be really confusing if eventually a glide react comes out. Maybe they decided this one isn't glide-ish enough?
It's kind of confusing, though, that they're calling it Odyssey, which was the premium stability shoe...and that plastic piece on the medial side reminds me of the tech Adidas uses for stability on the boost shoes...

I ordered mine yesterday, Jamie. Should have them Monday. As you know I'm a Lunarglide freak, and as you said they are coming out with a React replacement for the Glide. So the Odyssey should be interesting.
I think Nike may of won 2018 if things keep going the way they are. Vetween the peg 35, React (epic, odyssey, legend, Glide) , peg Turbo, Vaporfly 2.0, ZoomFly 2.0, Vomero 14 w/ react....Steve, I might pull a THOMAS and become a nike fanboy.

Frank Ding it’s a 22mm lens w/ wide angle adapter. After the crop factor + adapter it ends up looking like a 15mm. I’m thinking the wide angle look will look good on some Running shots...I like the distorted edges too. Some don’t, I’ll just mix it up to make everyone happy
Which one is more durable against holes? I've had the Nike Roshe hyper breathe and after 1 year it got a hole at my right foot big toe place. I did use this shoe as my casual footwear not as running And now my Adidas pureboost DPR right side big toe has a hole after 1 year. This one was for my PE classes/training or just running. But I would wear them also casually because I just like the softness with walking on these. So is it normal that shoes get holes after 1 year of usage? My outlet has the Odyssey one for like 84 euros. But I also see the Epic react on sale for around 80-100 euros. I mostly use the shoe as a combination of running and casual use to going through the city.
How are these compared to the Lunarglide? Does this have dynamic support like the Lunarglide? i need a shoe with support and i can't seem to find out how these are because they dont have these in my city
So if this isn't the stability version and is just the mesh version, what is the React Legend? I thought that would be the standard neutral trainer one. Is it like a budget shoe? I got the Epic Reacts recently and have found them to be a perfect all-round sort of trainer, but at the weight of a lightweight trainer. They are exactly what I wanted. They are as versatile as something like the Pegasus, but at the weight of an uptempo shoe. I took them out for an easy six miler, and put them right back on for some fast mile repeats the next day. Felt great in both.
I tried these on today and did not like the fit around the ankle. Felt too bulky and that there was not enough room for my ankle joint to move without creating hotspots.
I understand your first impression about the shoe regarding how it felt less flexible than the epic react but i think I'll wait till it goes through the "breaking in" process. Nevertheless, your first impressions are very good.
thanks. the shoe might break-in a bit more, bits definitely a stiffer shoe. i went and compared it to a few other shoes that are new at a store this weekend, and it wasnt even close to being as flexible. (epic, pegasus, Saucony ride, adidas boston 7). Then I asked regional nike running specialty rep and he said it is stiffer because they wanted it to be a more stable ride. it was purposeful, its just nike didnt mention it in any of their spec descriptions. I guess they figure most of the shoes would be sold to casual wearers who wouldnt know the difference. The rep also confirmed that August will be the release month of the Peg Turbo!
Thinking around June/July. The promo forms said October...but I dont think they'll wait that long. Im guessing they'll stay true to the release date month of the LunarGlide 9

the zoom flys for me would be a much more faster, responsive shoe. They're kinda different in their purpose. I think they're both good..I think the Epic React will work for most people since the zoom fly's ride is hit or miss for some people with the midsole plate thing going on.
thats what i thought, but its still definitely stiffer/less flexible compared to what the epic react is. I was curious yesterday while at a finishline and flexed a brand new pair of epic react flyknit...the odyssey is for sure less flexible. Its just an overall more stable shoe.

I'll buy them for the store. Sometimes Running Warehouse will send me a pair. Like the Newtons review and Adidas Boston 7 review. Most of the shoes are out of pocket. Thats why i always cry of happiness when people send supechat donations and join Patreon...its one less dollar I have to come up with 😭
I wear 11's in the Epic React, Pegasus, and Vomero. These fit true to size and 11 worked for me in these. So size to what you wear in most of your other running shoes.
Jamison Michael I just tried the Pegasus 34 for the first time in my standard size 11 and they were too narrow in the midfoot area. So I am concerned that I will have the same issues in these.
Kevin Wang no more wouldn’t say that. I enjoyed the lunar tempo so much, this isn’t quite it as far as a replacement. Oddly the epic reacts flyknit feels closer to tempo. They just need to make a Nike react tempo
Nike is just confusing people. They're still doing a GLIDE REACT, but maybe they're just making different levels of stability with each shoe...who know's.
the bandit 3 has came and went, just one of those shoes I never got to in time. i'll keep an eye out for the bandit 4. or a new HOVR model. Maybe a HOVR BANDIT?
chaba49 dang. Well luckily the odyssey shoe has only been out for about a week so I’m pretty sure you can use the 30 day money back warranty to get your refund if that’s the one you have . It might also be cheaper to get it on the Nike website. I think it’s only $120 for the odyssey and $150 for react. Which one do you have/tried that fell apart?

I would say the Odessy is the stability counterpart to the Vomero. Lunarglide and Pegasus are one tier lower than the Odessy and Vomero.

i feel like it could be fine for most people at that pacing. its a comfortable shoe overall, not too heavy.. just depends on if you like the upper

I think these would work be a pefrect way to try react for you. might be a good 1-2 rotation. having the pegasus and odyssey.

The nike react odyssey didn't flex as much because you haven't worn it in yet - check it in a month's time and it'll probably flex just as much :)

lol i think the flex on the epics was due to the fact that it didnt have as much rubber on the bottom as the odysseys
I won't buy another running shoe until the React Glide comes out so I can feel the react hype even with my weak clunky ankles

Lunartempo replacement?
Kevin Wang no more wouldn’t say that. I enjoyed the lunar tempo so much, this isn’t quite it as far as a replacement. Oddly the epic reacts flyknit feels closer to tempo. They just need to make a Nike react tempo
