My 14 old wants a vailed chameleon. Before we say yes I have been binge watching everyone of your videos. Your like a chameleon whisperer. So helpful!!!!
May I add Hornworms should only be offered as a treat? They’re chock full of gooey nutrition however overfeeding a chameleon hornworms will result in gout from the high level of protein hornworms provide.
Northern Maryland Geckos Very true! Too much of anything isn’t a good thing. That’s why I wanted to make it clear that variety is so important! Thanks for adding this though!
Hibiscus is such a nice thing to know! Because I actually grow hibiscus naturally, no pesticides. I love hibiscus and chameleons. I also typically garden lots of the veggies you said I also have apple tries. My future chameleon will definitely be fed proper food.
My Veiled loved green leaf lettuce. Your guy is absolutely gorgeous ! Love the fact he has weight. That plate of food looks like me going to feed the crickets ✌🏻❤
I'm planning on getting a veiled chameleon pretty soon and these videos are genuinely so helpful to me because I cannot find anyone who explains in detail like this!! I have about two pages of notes just from your videos about them on how to take care of them just so I get everything needed for my little guy 😁
My daughter brought home a veiled chameleon. He wasn’t eating, didn’t open his eyes and was losing weight fast. He refused to eat so I started syringe feeding green veggie baby food and wax worms. He has gotten so much better. He moves around, his eyes are open now and he has put on a little weight. I want him to eat on his own now but I do not know how to get him to eat on his own. He will not do it. Any suggestions would be great plz. I have added a potho plant to his enclosure to help keep moisture in. I want to rehome him because my daughter has lost interest. But no one will take him due to not Eating on his own.
Your chameleon looks gorgeous. Wow. He's so puffed up and beautiful. Just like my Georgia. The t5 HO uvb linear lights are the best, as is bringing them outside and letting her play in the garden, but I have to stay close.. She gets fed superworms and crickets, both with reptivite.. she also eats her vegetation sometimes inside her terrarium, which is devils ivy, and I just got an umbrella tree and spider plant for her..
Can I not feed my chameleon crickets? I'm really scared of insects but I can deal with worms and your chameleon looks so beautiful!! This video is so helpful! Back to the insects that the chameleon eats can it eat variety of worms and get enough nutrients and occasionally roaches that you talked about?
Came home from a trip to find my 14 year old had gotten a baby veiled chameleon. Trying to catch up on the care. What was the light bulb you said to use? Can I give her wax worms along with the crickets. Where is the best place on line to get crickets. Can i leave the crickets in the cage with Yoshi?
I suggested this :)))))) thank you! I got a rescue chameleon and haven’t found a good source for a guide for his diet so I’ve just been doing salads and crickets
I heard that feeding super worms is dangerous for chameleons because they can eat through their skin and they are too high in phosphorus... is that true? Or can I still feed super worms
I just got a chameleon today and I was wondering if they eat the crickets alive or if they want them dead? I saw at the end that his insects were alive but I just want to be 100% sure. Thank you so much!
I just got a chameleon two days ago and I plan on putting him on a veggie diet, this is my first time owning one so any and all tips if very very helpful
I’ve tried giving leafy greens or veggies and he doesn’t eat them. I’ve only had my veiled cham for 3 weeks but it’s been much more stressful than anticipated. He is just the biggest scaredy cat and “faints” anytime I mess with his cage so it’s been so hard because I have to get him out when his cage needs cleaning but I’m afraid the stress is going to kill him 😔 Should I keep trying to offer greens in hopes he’ll try it?
Can they eat watercress? I know that leaf is good for hydration but is it safe for them?? EDIT: Thanks for the informative video, great job! I've been looking into buying my 1st one. Been researching for a while now :3
I always offer my Jackson Chameleon veggies but he always wants nothing to do with them. Luckily he isn’t too picky with insects. His favorites are crickets and Dubia roaches. He’ll eat hornworms whenever I offer them and he’ll eat superworms, wax worms, black solider larvae, ect when offer but here and there he’ll turn those down. Luckily I have my own Dubia roach and superworms colony so that helps. I rather not breed crickets so I just buy them in bulk and keep them in an enclosure where they’re fed and taken care of until they all get fed off. I’m also getting a Panther Chameleon soon which is exciting.
It's good to use live plants, especially with veiled chameleons, so they can munch on the leaves. Check FL Chams for a safe plant list. Otherwise, focus mostly on insects and use carrots and other veggies to gutload your crickets, etc! Also, the BEST feeder for a chameleon is BSFL because they are chock FULL of calcium.
Daily calcium without D3 where can I get that and what kind? I am new to this, and just want to make sure that I give my chameleon the right stuff to keep it healthy!
I have never cared for a chameleon or lizard and I really want one. So if you have any tips on which ones are good for a beginner or any other tips for me that would be really really great!
I know you love feeding your reptiles superworms. Yesterday I heard that superworms are meelworms with chemicals, so that they can't become beetles, but instead grow into larger and larger worms. Is this true, how humane is it to do such thing and will those chemicals affect the reptiles you are feeding the worms to?
@@reptiliangarden no problem! Would you be able to let me know when you found out more about it? I find it kind of hard to find sources that I can trust, but I do believe you.
@@reptiliangarden false alarm! Someone in the comments of the video I saw earlier, explained that they are two different worms and that sprinkling chemicals on the mealworms won't make such changes. I couldn't find anything about chemicals while searching online either, but I did read that they are different from each other. Thank goodness for that!
Esther1897 those are called giant mealworms, they are given a hormone that prevents a normal mealworm from turning into a beetle so that they will just keep growing larger. Superworms are a different type of worm and can turn into beetles. They look very similar though because their appearance is the same and their size is about the same too.
Most of the nicer bugs like dubia roaches, black soldier fly larvae, Phoenix worms, silk worms, etc you can order online from different feeder companies. Even crickets usually come in larger amounts online, and online stores will usually sorts each by size which is great just to feed and start colonies.
I live in Arkansas and we have high humidity naturally, before misting his take is around 55-60. When misting he tank can get up to 80-90% very fast. What can I do about this?
At what age/time you recommend to start feeding fruits and veggies to Veiled Chameleons? My baby girl it's almost 2 months now and transition from small crickets to medium size.
I only just started looking into chameleons so I won't get one for a while but does this also apply to panther chameleons? Like are there any foods she talks about that Panthers can't eat or are they basically the same diet-wise?
I posted this question on another one of your videos. But I thought I would ask here too. Okay, so I have the Picture This app. It said that the Golden Pathos is toxic to pets and humans. Google says that you can use it for chameleons. I’m so confused.

So if the roaches get out of my enclosure will it infest my home ? I mean will it be like as if i brought regular roaches into my house? Serious question by the way..I have been avoiding feeding my chemeleon roaches because i dont want to infest my home with them if they escape.
Genessa De La Garza I would recommend getting at least a 4 foot tall enclosure right away. They are full grown at about 6 months. They grow very quickly
So you only want to use hornworms once or twice a week because it will start to affect the bowel movement of the veiled chameleon. Silkworm is you can give to them as much as they can eat but absolutely do not give them as many hornworms as they can handle, strictly one or two a week. They are low in protein and you're mostly giving them water.
Shannon Tanke Panthers are usually more colorful, a little more friendly, but have a higher and more challenging humidity requirement.
