I am pretty sure the fairy tale you were mentioning is a german brothers grimm fairy tale called "Hans im Glück" (translated to lucky Hans) where a guy goes through trades where he gets increasingly less valuable items untill he has no items at all and ends up happy because he doesn't need to worry about his possesions anymore. He starts off with a gold chunck and trades with for a horse and so on.
That “guard” description of being twisted apart used to be what originally happened when you failed the guards’ coin flip. It might have been in a beta or earlier build of F&H, I’m 100% positive I’ve seen it happen in some UA-camr’s videos. Also playable Crow Mauler is the funniest bit of info I’ve ever heard about this series. Rag’s S ending mission would surprisingly be fitting considering why he is the way he is.
I know of two stories that slightly remind me of the Nameless Traveler story: * Don't remember the name of this old Asian (maybe Buddhist?) parable, but the story entails a monk who is 'robbed' by a thief in the woods. The monk 'mistakes' the thief's intentions, and give him literally everything he has (including the clothes on his back). The thief leaves with all of the monk's worldly possessions, while the monk smiles up at the moon and calls the thief a 'poor soul', wishing he could have also given the thief the beauty of the full moon at night (which is what he was watching/enjoying when the thief came to rob him). -(Uncle Leo from Fallout 3 is a reference to this story, iirc). * "The Emperor's New Clothes": An emperor is outwitted by a couple of scam artists who say they have a set of the finest, most heavenly clothes that can only be seen my moral and just people (they don't actually have anything). The emperor can't see the clothes but doesn't want to admit that, so he pays an exhorbitant fee for the 'clothes', has them put on, and then goes on a parade wearing the 'clothes'. Everyone is told the story, and no one can see the 'clothes', so everyone pretends they can see them and cheers the king - until a child looks up and asks why the king is naked. At which point everyone realizes the emperor was scammed because the child is considered a moral & just innocent due to their age. (I think the story ended with the emperor shrugging and everyone continuing on because there was no sense in making a wreck of things at that point; everyone was guilty of lying, so everyone let it go).
"Arm of the Nameless" sounds awfully similar to the weapon that could be found in one of the mazes in a very old game "Planescape: Torment". You play as a amnesia-stricken character (hence called "The Nameless One") that is also immortal. During your adventures you visit places which were influenced by your former selves. I imagined it as the action order before the coin flip attack would decide the correct choice - for example, if Guard hacked at the palyer, then 1st choice would be safe, if he used other attack, then the other choice, etc. But I also suggested that a simpler solution would also be to give a hint in a form of attack message - like when it says "the guard rushes at you". The coin flip attack could give different messages, and the safe choices would be tied to these messages. The player would had to learn these variations, and gain ability to safely overcome coin flip attacks with time and knowledge. Since RPG Maker doesn't allow different attack messages, Miro probably decided to implement the simplest solution - have guarding block the coin flip attack, and tell player that guarding is the thing that blocks the attack. (Now that I know RPG Maker better I know that my suggestion could be implemented by making different attacks themselves, each with its own message.) So, what I assume, is that maybe possibly it was me who introduced the idea to make coin flip attacks blockable!
10:22 there are two Chinese stories that I can think of - the first can be found in English schoolbooks. Then there’s also the giving tree in Western lore. It tells of a rich male heir who was so saddened by poverty, he gave a gold ingot to everyone he saw. One day, he had nothing left and sat next to a beggar he helped before. When he asked for some money, the beggar didn’t have any to give. The second is of a man who was always so nice to others, he helped a wolf out of a pit without considering how the wolf might eat him when he came out. The final, the Giving Tree, is of a tree that gave its apples, branches, lumber, and all for a boy.

When you told the story of the nameless traveler I immediately thought of "The Star Talers" by the Grimm brothers (it was one of my favorites when I was a kid). The version I know ends with stars falling from the sky and turning into gold coins but Wikipedia says there is also a version where a guardian angel appears that personally rewards the girl with the gold, which sounds more like the version you mentioned.
the branding iron and arm of the nameless very much seem like they would be tied to isayah, considering he is a plague victim and has a missing arm. maybe ties into the theory that he either is or was going to be a new god
I think the story you are talking about is The Star Money from Grimm Brothers, where a little girl gives everything she has even the clothes on her back but then stars themselves see her selflessness and give her new clothes and rain coins upon her.
I think maybe the flashlight could be a translation error. Since Torch is both the word for an actual torch like in the game, but can also be a more niche way of saying flashlight. So it might just be some google translate weirdness.

The tale that you remember is a German fairy tale named "Die Sterntaler" or "The star-money" in English. It's about a girl who gives to those in need despite being poor herself. In the end, she is rewarded when the stars turn into coins that fall from the sky.
I think the book about the traveler is a reference to “the giving tree”. It’s a story about a very nice tree who gave away all of his fruit to hungry people and branches for firewood and let a kid chop him down to make a boat, and then he was just a sad stump forever
It isn’t on the code, but I can recall at least three playable characters that Miro wanted to add to the game but didn’t in the end. One was a penance knight, another was a female virgin mage, and then he wanted to add a vampire (back in the day when Cahara was going to be a vampire hunter. It’s strongly belived that Seleste took the role of the original vampire character). I may be wrong though, or there could be more unimplemented characters I don’t know about Anyways, great video as always 🔥
Hypothesis about the black vial: In the previous video I commented that Isayah's new god power was to cause the plague in order to control the people. What would the vector of the plague be? Could it be the black liquid? It's clearly oil in the game, but... not exactly; if you mix it with blood you can make a Fetus in the dungeon. Plus there's already oil (mix with black vial to make murky vial). ... perhaps the black liquid IS Isayah's body/plague/whatever?
The story of the traveller reminds me a bit of “Sint Maarten” or Saint Martin. He has a story about his cloak. He was travelling for a long time and met an old homeless man on the road who was cold in the rain. He decided to cut his cloak in half and give a half to the man. After a while he got to town where he meets another person thats cold and he cuts the rest of his cloak in half again. This happens a couple more times until his cloak isnt worth much anymore.
Indeed prison guards used to twist and mold your body into unimaginable shapes a long time ago also the Carotid Artery used to be in the game. a lot of events got scrapped which is saaad like the D'arce one .. oh a lot of D'arce events are gone tbh I remember them vividly or 0_0 Cahara events even my god and also that alternative moonless portrait.. it feels familiar weirdly huh.
I remember hearing the Foolish Traveler story in the Fruits Basket Anime/Manga, one of the characters was using the story to describe the main character Tohru because she was always so nice to everybody
Are you thinking of "The Giving Tree" It's a story about a tree that cares for a little boy who constantly takes and takes from the tree until finally it's only a stump.
I believe there's still text about the Nameless Traveler in the game, if you ask about "Nameless" in the hall of the new gods. I remember trying it to see if there was some cool lore about the Nameless Figurine, and getting some weird stuff that didn't seem to fit at all, but mentioned an unlucky "traveler", if I'm not mistaken.
10:25 i think it story of st louis or something. at least in my school it the person who who donate everything and trade good cloth for rag is the saint louis and he just join the church after that so there is no globin or angel
At first the story reminded me of "a rich man who gave everything" from Fargo, but I heard it somewhere else before, maybe even from old testament? Basically a story about how you have to care about yourself to be able to help others. But I also found out that the goblin version is from an old manga called "Fruits basket", literally 1 to 1. Guess that reference was too obvious.
Frap you may be new to F&H you may not have been their at the beginning but you have done so much to help others learn about Fear & Hunger secrets and all heck even understand how it's coded you've done alot for this community and it honestly wouldn't be the same without you.
Have you ever seen Fruits Basket? There's a scene where the characters talk about the 'Most Foolish Traveler in the world' that matches that Fairy Tale, but I don't know where the author got it from.
@@frapollo94 I think it's the version you're looking for because I also rememberd the same story and the fruits basket version also mentions the goblins at the end and actually says what they do to the traveler.
Girl's Dungeon Nights route would have been all about finding spray bottles, cigarettes, etc to ward off Pocketcat, who you must then in turn use in order to kill the lesser enemies such as Minecraft youtubers as a sort of 'RPGMaker reimplementation of Dark Esau from Isaac', if you're familiar. I know this cause I asked Miro in a dream
I don’t know if anyone has brought this up yet, but the unused scarab behind a door asset was actually used at some point! In the F&H may update video on the happy paintings channel a door is attacked and it reveals a scarab with some text too
Probably not what you are looking for, but there's a book from 2002 by Julia Donaldson called The Smartest Giant in Town. The story is very similar to that of the traveler. If it's not the same story, maybe it got the same inspiration
I know the story of the stupidly generous traveler you wanted to know about! I remember that I watched an anime called Fruits Basket when I was a teenager. In it there is the story called "The Most Foolish Traveler in the World" A foolish traveler is on a journey. “Foolish” because he’s easily tricked by the people he meets in each town. On this trip he’s tricked out of his money, his clothes, even his shoes. The traveler is so foolish that whenever the townspeople lie, saying “this will help”, tears roll down his cheeks and he says, “I’m so happy for you!” Finally, he has no clothing left. The traveler is so embarrassed that he continues his journey only through forests. He meets monsters who live in the woods. Monsters who use clever words on the traveler so they can eat him. Of course, the traveler is so dumb that he willingly gives an arm and a leg. In the end, the traveler is just a head. He gives his eyes to one final monster. As the monster munches on his eyeballs, he says, “Thank you. To show my gratitude, I’ll leave you with a present.” But that’s a lie too. The present is just a slip of paper with the word “idiot” on it. Still, the traveler sobs tearfully through his sockets. “Thank you, thank you! No one’s ever given me a present before! This makes me so happy. Thank you, thank you!” The tears keep pouring out of his empty eye sockets. Then, the traveler died, the smile still on his face.
I've always been a fan of cut/unused content. It's fascinating to see how a game was or was going to be. Only thing I'd add to this video are the steam achievements that used to exist, but I think an update broke them or something
Hey, about the story of the traveler. it probably has different roots, but the first time i heard it was from my favourite anime: fruits basket. there is an episode where one of the characters tells the story after he read it to his classmates in school. the traveler does in fact meet goblins (demons in that story) in the forest. just like the villagers, they tell him that they are starving and so, out of kindness, he offers his body, so each demon takes and eats something, untill all thats left is a talking, eyeless head. the last monster, tells the traveler thank you and gives him a present, which is a piece of paper that says "stupid" on it, but since the traveler cant see and read it, he just cries out of joy, because its the first time he received a present. it happens in episode 11 if you are curious enough to watch
Non anglophones, when dilligent about learning English as a second language, can be really good at pronouncing the hardest of words. Albeit with a sexier accent
10:26 For your fairy tale problem, I don't really know how it is called in english but the fairy tale: Hans im Glück is similar to that story. Short summary: He worked for 7 years after the end of his work, and he got paid gold and was sent home. On his way home he trades his gold with more "worth full" itmes until he gets home with nothing left.
ik im late to the vid but in the demo thats the guards normal coin flip attack text and effect and if i remember correctly you couldnt guard any coin flip attacks in the demo
I would like, besides Crow Mauler being playable as self, get a game mechanic similar to the one with the Gaunt Knight, where you can give a potion of mind and make him remember who it was, Captain Rudimer (if isn't mispelled), and also make him recruitable 😯 that would be freaking awesome! 😎✨
Though it just a little detail (but bring a whole new plot to the lore) i do want to give my man Cahara that feat of capturing Lg and to see what happen when Rag, D'arc and Cahara in the same party
The story was about a hare that was traveling because it needed to bring cigars to heal someone (i think to heal someone or just needed to do something with them, also it was like 1800 so people thought that cigars were medicinal), so some other hare sare saw the traveller and asked him to give him one and the traveller hare kindly gave him one and that was it, but the hare kept impersonating other people with costumes and voice acting to keep coming back to the traveler to ask for one cigar, which the traveler hare always gave away, until the traveller hare wanted to smoke one cigar when he opened the cigar box he realized there was no more cigars then the traveller hare felt very sad and the other hare saw him cry and didnt give a damn, it went something like this
The great Frapollo does it again. How do you keep finding new stuff in this game man but it does tell me that the game was made with a lot of love just like this video.
I've heard a very similar story to the traveler story, but with a different moral. In this case, it was a very kind traveler who gave everything he had to help others. But in the end, due to his generosity, he had nothing left on him, and died to the cruel winter. The moral was about not being so selfless that you neglect your own self in the process.

I may be wrong though, or there could be more unimplemented characters I don’t know about
Anyways, great video as always 🔥
Hypothesis about the black vial: In the previous video I commented that Isayah's new god power was to cause the plague in order to control the people. What would the vector of the plague be? Could it be the black liquid? It's clearly oil in the game, but... not exactly; if you mix it with blood you can make a Fetus in the dungeon. Plus there's already oil (mix with black vial to make murky vial). ... perhaps the black liquid IS Isayah's body/plague/whatever?
Hmmmmmm nah I don't think so, he gives you plague by touching you
FUCK YEAHHHH NEW FRAPPOLO VIDEO
What kind of events got removed?
funny R.. youtube will hate me events
I remember hearing the Foolish Traveler story in the Fruits Basket Anime/Manga, one of the characters was using the story to describe the main character Tohru because she was always so nice to everybody
>arm given to you by the nameless
YO PLANESCAPE TORMENT REFERENCE????
0:13 Enki decided to give up on life
Are you thinking of "The Giving Tree" It's a story about a tree that cares for a little boy who constantly takes and takes from the tree until finally it's only a stump.
Hmmm someone already mentioned that one, I'll look it up later!
Really cool video man, I love watching F&H content made by you. Keep it up!
i love how your intro gets slightly more unhinged each video
If playable crow mauler came before playable Tanaka I would become physically ill
I believe there's still text about the Nameless Traveler in the game, if you ask about "Nameless" in the hall of the new gods. I remember trying it to see if there was some cool lore about the Nameless Figurine, and getting some weird stuff that didn't seem to fit at all, but mentioned an unlucky "traveler", if I'm not mistaken.
hmmmm I forgor about that part! But I think it's not referred to this traveller of the book!
10:25 i think it story of st louis or something. at least in my school it the person who who donate everything and trade good cloth for rag is the saint louis and he just join the church after that so there is no globin or angel
Nobody’s going to talk about Francois just… going in as soon as he was mentioned? Alright then
I dunno what you are referring to! Franc is a nice guy!
I haven't even played the game and one of your videos popped up. You're entertaining so I watch them all.. with absolutely no context. It's glorious
You should make a special ringtone version of you yelling "FEAR AND HUNGER!!!"
Frap you may be new to F&H you may not have been their at the beginning but you have done so much to help others learn about Fear & Hunger secrets and all heck even understand how it's coded you've done alot for this community and it honestly wouldn't be the same without you.
Minor update: I started playing palworld bc of your video and I love it
Nice! I'm happy you're having fun!
Have you ever seen Fruits Basket? There's a scene where the characters talk about the 'Most Foolish Traveler in the world' that matches that Fairy Tale, but I don't know where the author got it from.
No I've never seen that actually!
In the F&H may update video on the happy paintings channel a door is attacked and it reveals a scarab with some text too
Cut content truly the thing of my heart desires.
"Oh i got this bug cause phase step" id the equivalent of crrsting a partivle acceleratot in sandbox and thinking why the game crashrd
In it there is the story called "The Most Foolish Traveler in the World"
A foolish traveler is on a journey.
YES! OKAY! Someone else remembers this story. It HAS to be a refernce to this.
I've always been a fan of cut/unused content. It's fascinating to see how a game was or was going to be. Only thing I'd add to this video are the steam achievements that used to exist, but I think an update broke them or something
Oh I'll have another video for achievements, they seem interesting enough to get 1 video on their own
Yippee!@@frapollo94
Imagine playable crowmauler in dungeon nights, then using the glitch (intended?) Way of getting a dungeon nights character into the real game
And then crow mauler stops having fun and starts annihilating everyone
For what its worth Frap, your pronunciation of carotid artery was spot on.
Non anglophones, when dilligent about learning English as a second language, can be really good at pronouncing the hardest of words. Albeit with a sexier accent
Nice thanks!
10:26
For your fairy tale problem, I don't really know how it is called in english but the fairy tale: Hans im Glück is similar to that story.
Short summary:
He worked for 7 years after the end of his work, and he got paid gold and was sent home. On his way home he trades his gold with more "worth full" itmes until he gets home with nothing left.
ik im late to the vid but in the demo thats the guards normal coin flip attack text and effect and if i remember correctly you couldnt guard any coin flip attacks in the demo
It’s interesting how some of these might have been developed more and worked into Termina (like the day/night cycle)
10:21 That could be the Goblin Market by Christina Rosetti maybe?
I would like, besides Crow Mauler being playable as self, get a game mechanic similar to the one with the Gaunt Knight, where you can give a potion of mind and make him remember who it was, Captain Rudimer (if isn't mispelled), and also make him recruitable 😯 that would be freaking awesome! 😎✨
Ohhhhh imagine that, even tho I think now that he has a crow head there's no more Rudimer in there
0:08 Damn, this yellow mage needs to cool down💀
We definitely need a mod that gives every enemy a coin flip attack

Game: Oh? Are you doing well? *Unlimbs your Enki* How're you doing now?
The great Frapollo does it again. How do you keep finding new stuff in this game man but it does tell me that the game was made with a lot of love just like this video.
I can't believe that Grape Horse got cut from the game
I've heard a very similar story to the traveler story, but with a different moral. In this case, it was a very kind traveler who gave everything he had to help others. But in the end, due to his generosity, he had nothing left on him, and died to the cruel winter. The moral was about not being so selfless that you neglect your own self in the process.

I know of the 3rd secret of Gro-goroth:
'For all the wrong that they have done to me, I can merely point my finger and leash out the violence at them in their desperate cry of remorse.
Frappolo: "let's stop talking about Phase Step"
[Frappolo uses Phase Step to avoid the conversation]
Phase will make me lose my hair
@@frapollo94 It's just a phase, Frappy. It'll pass. :3c
0:41 JoJo reference spotted
That is kinda hilarious naming the dark priest pucci
So sad that they didn't add the Battle with enki marriage and ragnavolder possed by the flower. It give me some termina vibe for some reason
We don't talk about phase step at this table
If you want to talk about that you'll have to leave the room
Frapollo fears no man but phase step scares him
A lot.
I think the fairy tale you mentioned is called "The Star-Money". Its about a girl that gives all her belongings away to strangers till she doesn't had anything aside a thin beddress, but at thee end Gold coins are raining on her.
Guard Break skill somehow reminds me of Break mechanic in Black Souls 2, It would be interesting if it work like in Black Souls 2 but when enemy is prompted to use coin flip attack instead🤔🤔🤔
You did in fact pronounce carotid correctly.
The check skill seems really useful to me. Some of the status icons were completely unreadable to me (the worm especially) so even a brief and indirect description would help. Not gonna lie, ran to the wiki every time I saw a status I had no idea on.
It is very satifying how this man pronounces certain things
The irony shakespeare's coin flip was in the demo by the guard
Noted!
Yo, Frapollo, did you ever interview the game dev about the game? If not, please look after it, it would be so nice to see the master of fear and hunger talk to the creator of fear and hunger.
I tried reaching out to them, but they've been very busy!
15:46 I think it's something like an animation of a horse's death or its transformation into something
regarding the foolish traveler, maybe its something like the giving tree? i also remember something closer to this story too, though
nice video i love this kind of stuff from games. Speaking of glitches I recently found a game breaking glitch. I'm playing as Darce if that changes anything. When I exit the room where you fight either gro goroth or the girl it warps me out of bounds in the previous room rendering my party unable to do anything but walk around a small space and agro a moonless guard through the wall. I tried to empty scroll learn phase step to fix it, but I think your bug fix mod removed phase step or something cause I couldn't get it to work.
Oh yeah I think I remember that bug, the dev messed up some teleportation points and collisions!
It would have been really funny if that cut intro for Cahara had stayed in. Imagine someone looking for mercenaries to rescue Le’garde and his advisor is like “I think we should hire this guy, he seemed pretty competent when he was capturing Le’garde”
