Sitting in New Zealand with my heading dog and she’s losing it with all the whistling going on 😂 loved this episode and would love to see more like it. The farmers out here are feeding the world and are affected by everything from weather/climate impacts and social and political issues. The more understanding people have on what it takes to get the food on the table the more we will appreciate the hard work and resources that go into it!
I usually never really comment but I honestly could’ve watched hours of you guys talking about keeping sheep. I‘m so impressed with the videography, the story telling and obviously the protagonist’s.
Couldn't agree more, I really enjoyed the back and forth and obviously watching these super dogs working. It only felt like it was on for a couple of minutes when it was actually over 20. Time flies when you're having fun as the old saying goes.
@@mariehelena2364 Can I ask you what both kind of work, and why you responded to my comment? I only stated that I thought that the op left a really nice comment and why isgrig had to try and ruin it by being pedantic over a slight spelling mistake. I think isgrig is the person who you should be replying to. Take care and best of luck 👍
Your journey as an independent YTer just keeps getting better. This video is top notch, showing the incredible skill of working dogs and their farmers. Thank you
When I visited Ireland in the early 00s, I saw a man who trained his dogs like that to bring the sheep down from the hills. Each dog was trained for a different sound of whistles. It was so fascinating and fun to watch those dogs work. Even in the fog, when you couldn't really see where the sheep were at.
Can be hard work and long hours but I'd rather have it over working in an office without a shadow of doubt. So rewarding working with these amazing dogs, no other breed comes even close to everything about them in my eyes.
I see "Brad + Sheepdog", I clicked immediately. The epic music at the beginning really revved up my heart's love for Border Collies I got from watching Babe as a kiddo 🖤
@@bradleoneIt came across so clearly that you really enjoyed yourself Brad. Your witty banter back and forth with Paddy was so natural and organic. Keep up the amazing work and I wish you all the luck that you deserve with your channel.
Could not agree more if I tried, you really hit the nail on the head. What a beautiful sight to behold, especially when you've got these a-holes running around a show ring with dogs who commentators describe as fit for function when in fact the poor dogs wouldn't be able to do a thing with the brain and body these horrible people have designed to try and win ribbons and trophies. I truly feel sorry for those poor unfortunate dogs.
As a Border Collie owner, this is my favorite film of Local Legends yet! My girl Jillie was a great girl. Thank you Paddy, family and friends for the look at what you are doing.
My only complaint is that I wish this video was longer! I could watch Paddy and Brad all day! ❤ I am so thankful Brad has his own channel doing what he loves and sharing it with all of us!
Best video since leaving BOnapp!!! Really it reminds me of the time with Vince. Great funny and not too much scripted! And Paddy is a true sport for giving you such a great story
You and the team have hit on some magic here Brad. There's an ill-defined border between sterile documentary and engaging IRL travel/cooking, and it's frankly shocking that you've managed to strike that golden balance so quickly in your solo venture. Mad props to you and your team, because you're maybe one of the most videogenic individuals alive, but without that team putting you in the right places with the right camera operators and the right people of interest, all that charisma doesn't do much. Hope you guys can keep it up for a good long while!
Fantastic! Had a Border Collie cross breed back in the 90's that could have escaped from bloody Alcatraz. Came home from work several times to find him out and about, "herding" the elementary school kids into two groups--one on each side of the street. Kids were laughing their asses off and trying to outsmart him. Mortified me (because WTF--parents are weird) and then I figured out that when the kids held their area, Wiley would run up to them and lay down. And get scratched up and belly rubbed. The damned dog trained the kids to give him belly rubs! Miss that mutt.
Great video, good natured and fun Irish banter, extraordinary country, and beautiful and intelligent dogs!!! Noticed Paddy had an 82nd Airborne hat. My father was in 82nd Airborne during WW II, made a combat jump into Holland and today happens to be National Airborne Day here in the States. Cheers!
Absolutely loved this. The way you encapsulated the story but also allowed us to really understand what and why was going on was wonderful. My wife and I loved every moment of it. Sharing with my parents as we’re fish out of water, English living in Texas, and this brings so much joy. Wonderful work as always to Brad and the team, and a big thank you to these wonderful Irish lads!
Honestly watching Brad's videos bring me so much joy. I've found his videos years ago from the fermentation stations to watching him in the hills with sheep dogs. If I could ever choose a life or career path, it would be like brads. Passion for food, connecting, and learning. Thank you for what you do. ❤
Oh the way this video made me so unbelievably happy!! What an incredible thing these folks do, continuing on the shepherd tradition. Thank you Brad for showing us true Ireland!
Don't know who had a better time here: the dogs, Brad, or me! All of Brad's best in one video. Lucky Brad for spending time in Ireland with Paddy, lucky us to witness it.
I could watch this for month and years! Didn't know i need a Brad in Ireland series but now i do. Scotland and the smaller islands as well might be wonderful.
Absolutely amazing video!!!! Love seeing dogs like this hyped to work and the old school way of life. Wouldn't it be something to be able to do this all of the time? Fresh air, dogs, nature.... It's a lot of work, too, but better than being stuck at a desk!
I live in the states and have ACK two border collies. They are littermates with very different personalities. I was SO happy to hear the addict type and full on fiend personalities are typical of the breed because that's the two we have.
Brad is 1,000% MADE for gabbing away with the wonderful Irish! They're his kindred spirits. I'm so excited to watch him and Paddy carve it up 😂❤
Agreed 😄
Paddy? The baddy?
I've always said it, couldn't agree more!
Kindred? Have ya fed us some whiskey an said something about our family before?
Oh my goodness, YES!!!! I completely forgot they’re from different countries XD They mesh sooo well.

This has turned into one of my favorite channels on UA-cam. You are a boss, Brad!
You’re channelling Anthony Bourdain in this Brad - what a wonderful film 💚
What?
Without all the DRAMA...
Nothing like Bourdain
@featherlightfoot7858
That mold is broken!
If Tony had 100% more golden retriever energy 😂😂

I just want to watch Paddy Fanning and his dogs all day now
😂
I second that notion 😅
Genuinely thrilling watching him and Bruce work together. Amazing what can be done by complimenting human intelligence with other species.
complementing* btw
@@isgrig210 That's being a little too pedantic my friend. One spelling mistake in what was a really nice comment and you're calling him out for it.

Love to Ireland from Iran. What wonderful land, people, sheep and DOGS!
You guys have plenty of sheep too eh.
@@ChurchmountSheepdogs Oh yes very special sheep. I'm a city girl and hardly know anything about it but those who know say they're different!

Brad's becoming a local legend himself in his ability to put out amazing video content.
The lives of shepherds and their canine companions seem idyllic and harmonious. What a simple and fulfilling existence.
Sure, raising animals to be slaughtered is very idyllic

YES BRAD! Never thought you would be doing a local legends in Ireland. Glad you loved our homeland. You’re welcome back any time! 🇮🇪🍀
More episodes with this guy, Paddy is a true fricken legend!

This one is epic! Brad a Paddy are a match made in heaven! 😂
That top down drone whistle demonstration was amazing. Speechless
My wool knitting heart shed tears. We want your wool, Paddy!

Magnificent creatures these sheepdogs are. Takes a lot to train them i bet, hats off to paddy and jim.
