Can’t beat the Honda 630/690 with replaceable rod brging also They do have a plastic cam gear problem if you really over heat the engine and I’ve had no problems yet
Awesome video, my k341 is still running decent in mine but I’ve often wondered if this motor would feel superior compared to the factory 16 horse Kohler. Thanks for sharing!
Pretty cool project, this makes me want to repower a skid steer also, well I will try once I can find one of these small old machines. Not many of them my direction..... although not sure why I would need one I have much larger skid steers any ways.... eh I won't focus on that part :)
Nice job , I just picked up an old 310 , pretty similar to yours, I have a question, do you ever rebuilt the hydraulic cylinder s on it? If , is there a website or a store where I can get a rebuilt kit for all 4 cylinderes? Thanks
Hello I just got my first skid steer a 310 I think, not sure because it was sandblasted and powdercoated no numbers on it now looks the exact same as that one, I want to check the hydraulic oil level but I can't find the tank for it , any help would be appreciated
I have a bobcat 371. Very similar to yours. I like the cab you have for yours. What is the chance that you would do a DIY video on how to build it? Thanks
it might be a little stronger. the only thing that might be a down fall is that if at high idle it vibrates the caba bit too much, but I only run it at about 2/3 idle and it does everything I need it for
Would u say it was a long process.? And was the motor u bought was it a kit or no ? Cuz i have a guy who wants me to replace his motor and his is a kit with new belts and new wire harnesses. Didnt take very long... about a weekend and I didnt work at it that hard. It was just a motor, i had to get everything to line up and modify the wiring, throttle, and choke.
Hi, Great video!!! I currently have the same setup but my fuel take is below the engine and is aluminum. Would you happen to know why my engine bogs down when I turn the bobcat. Forward and reverse works good but the moment I go to turn it shuts off the engine? any ideas why? Thanks!!!
@@JUSTTRYITDIY more like it’s not getting fuel. The minute I stop turning it the engine comes back to life. I did install a electric fuel pump thinking it’s the fuel but still it does the same thing.
I have the same loader. We are wanting to do this exact re-power. How did you make sure the pulley were lined up on the new set up? How did you decide exactly where to mount the engine for the proper belt tension? Thanks.
I lined up the motor with the pulley using a ruler to make sure it was in line. and the tension was old school, pulled it tight so I had about a finger width of slack.
Awesome ! I have one of those trying to bring back to life . Having issues with lift power. Doesn’t want to lift any weight. Any thoughts ? Also what are the belts your running ?
my bobcat didn't have a 2 speed clutch when I got it, so when I got the new engine I left the single speed pulley. mine doesn't have a brake lever either
@@JUSTTRYITDIY do you remember where you got that 1" pulley and what size diameter is it.I'm ditching the 2 speed set-up and original motor due to oil leak
I have a Bobcat 310 with a Kohler motor. It has good compression but leaks oil, has a problem with rust in the fuel tank which lead to fuel issues and starter problems. I am thinking about installing a Predator engine as you have. I would like to know what materials I will need need to purchase in order to do the installation. I would like to ask where you got your fuel tank and if there is anything that you would have done differently, have you had any issues and would you have chosen that motor again.
well that gas tank came with the bobcat when it got it I am not sure where it came from. it was a fairly easy engine swap, because it already had a pulley I just changed the bore. It already had a plate to mount to. I did add a plate to mount the battery. and the extended the wiring for the ignition and a longer cable for the choke. I did have to cut out the exhaust outlet out and then did the same to the other end and welded it in place. i would not change anything I dont ever run it at full throttle and it has all the power I need. Good luck on your build
@@JUSTTRYITDIY Thank you for posting this video and answering my questions. Is the shaft bigger on the predator than the Kohler? In other words just wondering if that was the pulley that you bored or another one. Unfortunately I have put a starter and a fuel pump on the Kohler but I just can't seem to resolve my starter issues and I have rust in the tank making things worse. Is there anyway you could give me the PN for the fuel tank? I would greatly appreciate it.
Thomas Swaney the gas tank in my 310 also rusted out because the weep hole in the bottom of the frame below the tank got plugged with mud and held moisture. I ended up by passing the factory 5 gal. Tank and finding a plastic two gallon lawn tractor gas tank and mounted it high up in the engine compartment. Works good!
I had to get the engine, a sleeve for the pulley because the shaft was a different size, got some welding supplies to mount the motor. I did use some wire to extend the key ignition. A longer throttle and choke cable. oh and of course a new belt. That was about it. I think I was lucky because the motor had been replaced before. This bobcat does not have a “brake” so whenever it is running the drive and bucket controls are live. Good luck with your project.
