I downloaded this yesterday, and played 4 player co-op with my kids, and I let them stay up Hella late til like 1 am because we couldn't put it down, and we finished the whole game in one sitting, it was the best Father's day present ever😊
I was born in the 80's. Turtles were my life. I had all of the toys so it was amazing seeing stuff like the turtle blimp show up. This game was made for me.
The original 1987 voice actors reprising their roles for the Turtles, Bebop and Rocksteady, Rat King and Rahzar was the biggest highlight of this game for me. My childhood, watching the show on VHS.

@@huey6248 beat ‘em ups and most retro style games in general are all about playing them multiple times. Shit… even if you have 15 spare minutes, you can bang out a couple levels just for some quick fun, but most can be completed in a couple hours.

The music, the art, the gameplay, this was a DREAM game for me, I have been waiting for it since its first announcement, I bought it as soon as it went live, took my time with it, maxed out Doni (he's my fave) and now im playing Mikey, finished the story mode, tried 6 player co-op with some randos online, and my god I have LOVED it, SO MUCH, it's just, my childhood, I'm 33, I grew up watching the 80's-90's series, and as soon as I first heard the remixed version of the OG intro, I got goosebumps. I'm so glad people are loving the game so much, I was really hoping you would cover this one, and I'm very happy you love it as much as I do. Also, the stage 3 music is probably my fave in the game, I too paused it it when it started. Here's to hoping it gets some kind of DLC or something, that would be cool. Still a 10/10 package though.
This is the second game I’ve ever wanted to buy the CD soundtrack for. Personal favorite song is Terror in the sky, and the boss battles were all top tier. Personal favorite being Tempestra granted I don’t care for her I was more excited the fact I got to fight my favs Tokka and Rahzar. Otherwise GC and DB was a close second, Hbu??

I don't know all the song names yet but I am for sure getting digital and maybe physical versions of it so I can just vibe to them, they where all amazing!
This is the spiritual successor to the original ‘80’s TMNT Arcade game, all the references, and treating the original property with respect, great game! And the fact that they got the original voice cast (with the obvious exception of Shredder, sadly…) is another nice touch, hearing Rob Paulsen voicing Raph brought back memories… Gameplay-wise, I was always a Donnie fan, his Bo staff is as close as you get to a ranged melee attack.

Love this so much, loved TMNT since I was 7, saw the 2007 film when it came out and went back to watch the first two and the live action show, 2012 show also watched. This game is just an all round love letter to TMNT fans and I adore it. This is the second game I’ve ever played where I’m willing to buy the sound track on DVD, first one was og Killer Instinct. If you enjoy this game, PLAY RIVER CITY GIRLS! Its one on the greatest beat em ups ever! Banger sound track, fully voiced. Very small RPGmechanics, mini 2d open world, side quest and production values through the roof

Me and my 5 year old daughter co-op this game. It was our first game I can say we ever beat together. Played on chill mode with her. She rocked out my mayflash arcade fight stick. We ordered a large cheese pizza and simply had a blast. She keeps talking about how she loves the soundtrack and now wants to play the entire game again. Can’t wait for my son to get a couple more years on him so we all 3 can experience it together. This game is going down in the books for me.
This takes me back to playing Turtles in Time on the SNES and loving the franchise since watching the 03 series on Fox Box. I wish this game adds the comic costume feature
This game was 🔥 I just wish it was longer. I beat it twice in 3-4 hours and don't know if I want to do another run because beatem up combat can only entertain for so long. Maybe in co op if I can convince my waifu

Got this game day 1 through Game Pass on Xbox One and ABSOLUTELY loved it, same as you. And they finally have couch co-op! FINALLY! Nobody does couch co-op anymore and I don't know why. I've played some retro TMNT games with emulator's when I was like 7 yo and I did like them and just this month I was looking for something to give me that old arcade style feeling something like sonic mania and from what I've seen this game is going to be one I'll remember forever specialy as a TMNT fan
Raph was incredibly sarcastic in the original eighties cartoon …. the writing was so great!! the “ fearless leader “ line was actually from the eighties cartoon … the Raph in the 1990 movie said “ great leader “
I just finished a playthrough. Most of the Story playthrough there were at least 3 players playing co-op. A great experience. The ability to both invite and join other games is such a simple way was a masterstroke. So much nostalgia and fun heightened by the atmostphere and actual gameplay mechanics makes it so good.
I grew up with the original 1987 series on VHS, we always went to the video rental store and would be so excited when a new Tmnt movie would come out.. What an awesome series..
If you've never played them, I recommend doing a retrospective on TMNT 2 and TMNT 3 on the NES. Those games, especially 2, are the reason we still have turtle beat 'em ups to this day.
Pretty sure the “What now, fearless leader?” was a line from the old cartoon as well. Maybe the episode where the Turtles first enter the Technodrome and Shredder puts them through a gauntlet of death traps
Beat the storymode doing online co op with a buddy and it was fantastic! I found april to be the most fun, she even had the chun li spinning bird kick! haha good shit!
I played for a little over ab hour and was very happy with it. So much like the SNES classic Turtles in Time. Nostalgia heavy game and overall great game so far I love it!
This truly is what a game, made by gamers, with a genuine passion for retro games & the IP specifically looks like. It would be nice if more game developers & film studios treated beloved IPs this way. side note, I'd like to see this "demade" and ported to Sega Mega Drive or Saturn, something like that.
Shredder's Revenge does for TMNT, what Sonic Mania did for the Sonic franchise... It's the return to what worked and what people fell in love with in the first place. A total success...
Your need to go play is indicative of an addictive quality that had me playing all week also. Solo completing story mode I was like, well I've seen everything. Jumping into multiplayer and hi-fiving randoms over the internet, mastering the controls to better deal with enemies, the easy nature of jumping into online games... It's addictive. That's not a compliment, it may be to someone's detiment, but it is addictive.
Couldn’t agree more about out of the shadows, I think it’s one of the most underrated games I’ve ever played, I still have it on my ps3 and play it every few years. They got way more right then they got wrong

I haven't played this Game but it's on My Bucket List and I would love to See Uzagi,Monfo Gecko,Figitoid,Mona Lisa,Vincent,Irma,Metalhead,Tokka,Razar,and Karai,also we hile Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Lighthearted and has a Charm,TMNT 2012 being my Favorite TMNT Adaptation is More Darker than you Think with Body Horror with Mutations,Deep and Emotional Story and Characters,and goes more Mature as Time goes By.
Never been into TMNT, never been into beat-em-ups, never played Turtles in Time. That being said, I just sat down and played through the game with an online buddy, and MAN it's good. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did, and I didn't expect to find myself wanting to go back. Even with Streets of Rage 4, the only other beat-em-up I've beaten, I was really feeling like I wanted to be done by the end. But this game kicks ass.
This game is really a dream come true. It FEELS like you're playing the cartoon and not the game. Haven't played 6 player co-op yet but I'm gonna get to that

If I recall correctly, a big part of why TMNT: Out of the Shadows got such negative reviews was that it promised online co-op and then didn't have it at launch, coupled with a massive delay that seemingly didn't add anything to the quality of the final product. This was before you could do stuff like remote play, and since the tmnt hardcore fan target audience of the time was mostly people who had jobs and were in their late 20s/30s by then and didn't have the free time to just go to a friend's for couch co-op like in the old days, that was a huuuuuuuge sticking point for most people. Especially since it came after a slew of TMNT games that had either no or very limited co-op. It's definitely not as bad as its review scores suggest, but if you promise to be the first turtle game with 4 player online co-op and then you just aren't, well... that'll piss some people off. I've always wanted to see what a Rocksteady-produced TMNT game would look like, and was really excited when that was the big rumor for a few years. The turtles would fit right into the arkham asylum mold of gameplay, combining stealth, exploration and awesome combat. Anyway, Shredder's Revenge is an 11/10 beat-em-up.

Can you imagine a TMNT game, that's like Elden Ring. An open world letting you explore NYC, enemies in the back alleys and subways. Instead of classes, it's different characters. Doni as a more ranged arc type, Raph a short range berserker, Master Splinter a dodge heavy glass canon. Maybe some characters could share arc types, so Raph and Casey would be the same style, just with different animations and different skill upgrades. Maybe even have lesser known characters be playable. All the bosses are various main villains from the series. Give it a darker vibe to reflect the original comics, I think it could be awesome if done well.
Cool game. It's like a renaissance of beat 'em up games. At a recent steam festival, I played the demo of another potentially good game - Arnold Bounty Hunter. It looks more like the first Battletoads - there are not only fights, but also various adventures with platforming, hydrocycles. It also looks interesting.
Was a fan of the cartoon series back in the 90s, Donatello was my favourite 🤜 Remember playing a turtles side scrolling beat em up in the arcades back then too, it was superb. This game seems to have that same vibe so can only be a good thing! 👌 HEROES IN A HARD SHELL! TURTLE POWER!!
Limited Run is handling the physical release which includes Xbox, and will be one of the first to have retail-wide availability for the standard edition. Meaning quantities are plenty.
I was so excited to play this I had the physical copy in my basket until I realised that version didn't release until 29th June.... then more importantly I realised I had gamepass! Can't wait to play this with my brother. We grew up on streets of rage, golden axe and turtles in time.
Love the movie as well and the score is truly a masterpiece. This is SUCH a great game and has hit on so many levels for me as a Gen X that played copious amounts of the arcade.

Bringing a dream roster of 40 characters spanning from the 35 year history from movies, tv, and comics. The characters could have multiple costumes to represent each version Could you imagine 80s Shredder, ‘03 Raphael, and ‘12 Leatherhead vs ‘12 Tiger Claw, ‘07 Casey and IDW Slash.

Played this game with my best friend of 30 years and our kids. It was so just so chill. As for different genres for TMNT Gotham Knights definitely should have been a TMNT game instead. Cant wait for The Last Ronin tho

To be completely honest when I saw this was a side scroller beat em up I was thinking "Don't know if that's for me" Tried it on Game Pass a few days ago and lost a good 2 hours with both single player and multiplayer before I had to go to work! 😂 This game is definitely a lot of fun
I also really enjoyed TMNT Out Of The Shadows. Kinda short and not alot of varied enemies; but I loved the control, gameplay and graphics. PC version was best, followed by the 360 and PS3 was the last in graphics. Would still want a Switch port, but this game (Shredder's Revenge) is an old school TMNT fan's dream come true.

It would be nice if more game developers & film studios treated beloved IPs this way. side note, I'd like to see this "demade" and ported to Sega Mega Drive or Saturn, something like that.
Shredder's Revenge does for TMNT, what Sonic Mania did for the Sonic franchise... It's the return to what worked and what people fell in love with in the first place. A total success...
Your need to go play is indicative of an addictive quality that had me playing all week also. Solo completing story mode I was like, well I've seen everything. Jumping into multiplayer and hi-fiving randoms over the internet, mastering the controls to better deal with enemies, the easy nature of jumping into online games... It's addictive. That's not a compliment, it may be to someone's detiment, but it is addictive.
Couldn’t agree more about out of the shadows, I think it’s one of the most underrated games I’ve ever played, I still have it on my ps3 and play it every few years. They got way more right then they got wrong

I haven't played this Game but it's on My Bucket List and I would love to See Uzagi,Monfo Gecko,Figitoid,Mona Lisa,Vincent,Irma,Metalhead,Tokka,Razar,and Karai,also we hile Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Lighthearted and has a Charm,TMNT 2012 being my Favorite TMNT Adaptation is More Darker than you Think with Body Horror with Mutations,Deep and Emotional Story and Characters,and goes more Mature as Time goes By.

There's a mos on nexus that let's you change the colors of the turtle's skins. It makes mulitplayer much easier
Never been into TMNT, never been into beat-em-ups, never played Turtles in Time. That being said, I just sat down and played through the game with an online buddy, and MAN it's good. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did, and I didn't expect to find myself wanting to go back. Even with Streets of Rage 4, the only other beat-em-up I've beaten, I was really feeling like I wanted to be done by the end. But this game kicks ass.
This game is really a dream come true. It FEELS like you're playing the cartoon and not the game. Haven't played 6 player co-op yet but I'm gonna get to that
They also added Mikey's line from the 1990 movie where he goes "I love being a turtle!" Man this game is incredible

If I recall correctly, a big part of why TMNT: Out of the Shadows got such negative reviews was that it promised online co-op and then didn't have it at launch, coupled with a massive delay that seemingly didn't add anything to the quality of the final product. This was before you could do stuff like remote play, and since the tmnt hardcore fan target audience of the time was mostly people who had jobs and were in their late 20s/30s by then and didn't have the free time to just go to a friend's for couch co-op like in the old days, that was a huuuuuuuge sticking point for most people. Especially since it came after a slew of TMNT games that had either no or very limited co-op.
It's definitely not as bad as its review scores suggest, but if you promise to be the first turtle game with 4 player online co-op and then you just aren't, well... that'll piss some people off.
I've always wanted to see what a Rocksteady-produced TMNT game would look like, and was really excited when that was the big rumor for a few years. The turtles would fit right into the arkham asylum mold of gameplay, combining stealth, exploration and awesome combat.
Anyway, Shredder's Revenge is an 11/10 beat-em-up.
I didn't give into the hype but I downloaded yesterday and found out it's the same developers that made scott pilgrim vs the world the video game made this game finally played it and yea the hype is real!
No they're not. Tribute Games made TMNT Shredder's Revenge while Ubisoft made Scott Pilgrim.

Can you imagine a TMNT game, that's like Elden Ring. An open world letting you explore NYC, enemies in the back alleys and subways. Instead of classes, it's different characters. Doni as a more ranged arc type, Raph a short range berserker, Master Splinter a dodge heavy glass canon. Maybe some characters could share arc types, so Raph and Casey would be the same style, just with different animations and different skill upgrades. Maybe even have lesser known characters be playable. All the bosses are various main villains from the series. Give it a darker vibe to reflect the original comics, I think it could be awesome if done well.
Never really played or watch the tmnt stuff, but im gonna try this game out to try and get into. Looks real fun
Cool game. It's like a renaissance of beat 'em up games. At a recent steam festival, I played the demo of another potentially good game - Arnold Bounty Hunter. It looks more like the first Battletoads - there are not only fights, but also various adventures with platforming, hydrocycles. It also looks interesting.
Takes me back to playing the original arcade TMNT at Crystal's Pizza in the 90s.
Was a fan of the cartoon series back in the 90s, Donatello was my favourite 🤜
Remember playing a turtles side scrolling beat em up in the arcades back then too, it was superb. This game seems to have that same vibe so can only be a good thing! 👌

Limited Run is handling the physical release which includes Xbox, and will be one of the first to have retail-wide availability for the standard edition. Meaning quantities are plenty.

I was so excited to play this I had the physical copy in my basket until I realised that version didn't release until 29th June.... then more importantly I realised I had gamepass! Can't wait to play this with my brother. We grew up on streets of rage, golden axe and turtles in time.
Love the movie as well and the score is truly a masterpiece. This is SUCH a great game and has hit on so many levels for me as a Gen X that played copious amounts of the arcade.
It's awesome throwback too the arcade and turtles in time albeit really short.But definitely replayable with different characters love it.

I've got gamepass and I still bought it outright to support these guys for this exact reason. Might buy one for my Switch as well, and still come out cheaper than buying one new broken trash fire.
Yeah just need more Video Games like this! This is one of the best beat em up games and would easily be #1 on my top ten list for Arcade beat em ups. I would love to see a Sequel and DLC for this! TAKE MY MONEY!

As for different genres for TMNT Gotham Knights definitely should have been a TMNT game instead. Cant wait for The Last Ronin tho

To be completely honest when I saw this was a side scroller beat em up I was thinking "Don't know if that's for me" Tried it on Game Pass a few days ago and lost a good 2 hours with both single player and multiplayer before I had to go to work! 😂 This game is definitely a lot of fun

I also really enjoyed TMNT Out Of The Shadows. Kinda short and not alot of varied enemies; but I loved the control, gameplay and graphics. PC version was best, followed by the 360 and PS3 was the last in graphics. Would still want a Switch port, but this game (Shredder's Revenge) is an old school TMNT fan's dream come true.
If you have switch I would love to do a playthrough with you , I love this game as well played it a hundred times in the last 2 to 3 days..lol
