The worst PlayStation 3 controller? Old Skool Double Shock 3

The Old Skool Double Shock 3 might just be the worst controller I've ever purchased. I really do fear the battery and its location and lack of protection from the pins of the PCB board. The controller also doesn't come with the necessary cable to sync or charge with the PlayStation 3. It also happens to have squishy buttons and a horrendous directional pad. Do you have a mini-USB cable? I can't remember if I linked the one I got in the description or not. But you'll need one in order to sync it with the console. If you have a cable and it's not syncing then I'd say just try and get a refund if you can. Hope this helps. (Edit: I vaguely remember reading something about certain controllers not working with different models of the PS3, but I believe this one claims to work on all models)

Good thing mine was broken right out of the box, I guess. The left stick would not register the lower-left diagonal, and they managed to duplicate that flaw somehow on the d-pad. The stick also had a much bigger dead spot than a standard DS3. The really dumb thing about the cable is that it is mentioned 3 times on the back that there is an included USB cable.

Definitely attests to the company having a incredibly low or completely absent standard for quality control. Sorry to hear that it was completely useless, hope you were able to get your money back. Thanks for watching and for commenting.

Mine has acceleration issues with R2 and L2 while playing gta v. Foward/reverse doesn't engage until fully depressed with weak response and you can't do donuts while holding L2 and R2. I don't think it can be fixed.

Sorry to hear that, it might help to try and straighten the springs out a bit? Honestly I dunno if it would be worth it for this controller and if I remember correctly it's kind of a pain to line the springs back up when putting them in normally. Hopefully if you try it, it helps some. Thanks for watching and commenting.

What if you don’t open the controller will the battery be fine

I'm concerned because the posts from the joystick potentiometers are pressed right against the battery pack. Over time those batteries tend to swell, and if they swell against those posts then it could puncture then battery and catch fire. Sort of like old MP3 players screens get black spots, because the batteries have puffed up against the screen. Same deal just, it's against a sharp object. I'd suggest looking into an alternative, maybe Retro Fighters has something, I have liked their other stuff I've checked out, haven't looked into a PlayStation controller from them yet though.

If it's Sony made then no, those batteries are in a fairly rigid plastic shell, look up PS4 controller battery replacement images and you should see what I mean. The battery in the controller mentioned in this video is a soft pack battery which is easier to puncture. But it's going to vary by manufacturer and by controller, the Old Skool Double Shock 3 is the first controller I've taken apart and seen a battery that janky in.
