I enjoyed that it stayed just wood grain and not paint. I think that is the best alternative for a piece like this. The grain is visible everywhere. Keeping it as real and as natural as can be. Others would have painted it. However I'd like this much better!
Nicely done. This is a perfect project for a gift for a friend. Thanks for info. How would you go about plunging the cuts with a palm router? My only router is a little Bosch 1hp Colt, therefore no plunging feature on mine.
Thanks Matt,my router is a plunge router but I never use it as one ,i prefer to lock it in place at the depth I need and simply lower and raise the bit into the wood,so your bosch will do these type of projects no problem..I dont have this router anymore ,I was looking atvthe bosch myself but for now I use an old black and decker dn66 they don't even make them anymore 😀 you can buy a universal router base with handles for your router, it will definitely make things easier..ebay for me heres a link..Good luck.www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Router-Base-Strong-Texture-Router-Base-With-Handles-Compact-For-Woodworking-/174778326514?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
Hi, nice video. I am a home owner and i'm planning to do the woodworking maintenance at home myself and that is mending wooden things that are old and damaged and making new things like wooden cabinets, chairs etc. I'm not planning to start a woodworking business. One week ago i bought a plunge router and it is a heavy beast. Later on i saw the trim router on the internet and i think that would get more use after seen what you can do with a trim router. I'ts also lighter and more maneuverable. Question is do i still need to buy the trim router and keep the plunge router for heavy duty stuff? Or is it a waste of money to buy the trim router? Hope to hear from you soon. many thanks
@@rosi6144 definitely, best of both worlds ,I've a beast of a router that I used on my older videos..I now use a black and decker dn66 they don't even make them anymore but I'm on my 8th machine..still find them on ebay or marketplace..its what iam used too.🤣🤣
Thank you,I get my bits from ebay or amazon, I've started putting links to all the bits in my description on my newer videos, check out my Colin the Caterpillar video, I've all the links on there...Good luck..

Hi there, great video, especially for me, who is new to routing. Would you be able to help me with some information please. Could you tell me where i can get the Cnc router bits you showed us, i can`t find any with a 1\4 shank. Many thanks for any help. Best wishes Harry.
Hi Harry I get all my bits from Ebay or Amazon, the cnc bits have a dremel size shaft,3.175mm so you need a adapter collet 6.35mm to 3.175mm, its basically a metal tube like sleeve that the cnc bit slots into, this make the cnc bit 1/4",it will now fit the router...
fishtank5050 Many thanks for all your help, I’ve ordered the bits I need and the collet, so looking forward to receiving those, and getting going. Many thanks Harry.
If you are talking about the clamp for straight edges, its called a micro adjuster, it's made for my black and decker router,if you check my totem pole video, I use a piece of wood and clamp it down to make a guide for the router to run against..
Thank you Doug for popping by 😁👍I've all the links for the bits I use in the description in my shed projects video..here it isua-cam.com/video/26Cgcxgt7l0/v-deo.html

Nice contrast. Works well. Would a smaller palm router cope with this or would a larger one be a better option?
