    Tapping into current events can help new people discover you even if you are not initially very competitive on the topic and concept. My recent Microsoft Surface Studio video is a good example. 55K views in just a few days because people were curios and the video was a hands on review and there were only a few of those out since its a new product.
    Videos that have exotic topics and thumbnails also get clicked. But Evergreen reliable SEO driven videos can help building you slowly over time and has worked very well for many creators.

    I've doubled my channel size over the last few months, which I am very proud of! My tip to other channels is to remember to be happy. If you're enjoying your channel and doing it for yourself, it will make you make more videos and higher quality videos and people will be able to tell that you genuinely love the topic you are speaking about.

      This is a problem I was having with my first channel. I would make content to make it, not because I enjoyed it. But now that I am developing my new channel about cars, which I have a deep passion for, I will have fun making the videos and enjoy every second of it. It also helps you stay focused because you want to make the best video possible

    Ok, this is going to come across as harsh, but here goes: be a person capable of holding other's attention; if you're never the center of attention, unless you're doing animation or something where you're not front-and-center, you're probably not going to do well on UA-cam and that's ok. Maybe your talent's writing, you're a kickass videographer, or editor- do the thing that the people in your life have consistently recognized you for. -Nerdarchist Ryan

    I started my channel back in May and I'm currently at about 370. Slow but steady growth I guess. I absolutely LOVE to make videos. I enjoy coming up with concepts and ideas, bringing them to life and I even enjoy the editing process. I guess I said all of that to say that since I enjoy it so much, I'm going to continue to do it for the long haul and keep having fun along the way. I have evolved a bit by monitoring analytics to understand what I'm doing that people enjoy and trying to do more of that. But also, trying to come up with creative ways to do and say the same thing. Be patient, HAVE FUN, get feedback and just be you.

    Awesome video man - If there's one thing that I've learned about UA-cam is that it takes repetition, the more I re-watch your videos or watch you doing another video on a similar topic before, I find I suck a tiny little nugget of information in. Great video as always Tim! I think my main problem is being consistent with constant uploads. I have pretty good community content and discover-able content. Matter of fact I have made viral content, but my content went viral on other platforms not UA-cam! I need to learn how to be come discover-able on UA-cam any tips? Tim could you do a video on this? I think it would be helpful to UA-camrs who've had more notoriety on other platforms.

      More videos. You only have 19 videos. Publish! Publish! Publish! And make videos 10+ minutes long that are engaging. I too had a dip with the recent algorithm change but I am going to push through it

      Train Tsar Fun I have hundreds of videos actually. I post twice per week and I belong to a lot of communities. my videos used to bring in a lot more views than they do recently. my thought is that the new algorythm has something to do with it.

    • @TrainTsarFun
      @TrainTsarFun 8 років тому

      That is right. I track channels that are similar to mine and most of them tanked in early October. Now I am analyzing the ones that didn't tank. I actually was ready to quit my full time job in September then - Boom! It fell like a rock. On the live stream Tim did a week or so ago the Bounce Patrol lady mentioned the algorithm change. I knew there was because I have been tracking things for 4 years and it was the first dip in October. When a dip (or even a rise) is not from a holiday or a seasonal occurrence it sometimes means there was an algorithm change. I do not want to work for the algorithm! But if you don't make the content the algorithm likes you cannot grow. The algorithm really wants to make it beneficial for real people so keep making the good content and you'll get back on track!

    • @TrainTsarFun
      @TrainTsarFun 8 років тому

    great video and all people made valid points. big thing i was waiting for one of them to say was brand you channel.
    branding means having nice youtube banner having a particular look and logo that people will know and say "oh hey this is chiba's video" because of the branding make all thumbnails Similar with same fonts and or logos while still implementing the topic of the video. for example i use big bright orange font word text colors as thumbnails with dragonball z characters. (depends) while in the backround ill have a picture of what the video represents. be creative.

    Tim, I just started my channel and post some of my videos on a forum. When I embed the video on the forum I get lots of likes and comments in the forum, but those viewers are not participating on the UA-cam platform. If I post a link to a video or playlist on the forum, it does not get the attention that an embeded video does. What can I do to help the people engaging with my videos on the forum platform come over to the UA-cam platform?

    One thing that helped me earlier this YT was growing one of my social media accounts. For me that was Instagram. I've gained 10k+ followers this yr. Naturally more ppl visited my YT channel after I posted snippets on my YT vids on there.

      Minsooky that has helped me grow as well. I use all of my social media accounts to funnel people to UA-cam. I post thumbnails and kind of like video trailers or snippets to Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. I usually do it 3 ways to get the most coverage. 1 post thumbnail 2 trailer/snippet 3 just me taking from my phone saying "go over to the channel and check out the new video"

    • @uogiusj
      @uogiusj 8 років тому +1

      You won't grow a channel that is not in english and that's that. No matter how many watch you, all of your country won't. To get subscribers you need to teach that kid english or people will just watch him few minutes because: "Aww, look how cute he is" and then forget the channel. There's no money in it for you if you continue this path, the kid will grow, views will only come from earlier videos...

    QUESTION: In the beggining stages when you dont have that many subscriber or views,How do you prevent someone from Stealing your channel name,Not someone trying to imitate you,But someone who is just trying to steal your Brand name and present it as their own,and make their original video,but making it look like your the one who copied you. UA-cam doesnt have any rules for that. Thanks

    • @PediQueen592
      @PediQueen592 8 років тому +1

      Ana Valentin it is also depends on channel type. Vlogging is always hard to get subscribers. But in my channel area, you can not imagine how fast USA channel grow. I have basic view and sub everyday if even I don't upload video but I know so many people from USA that grow crazy just few month. 😔😔

    Thanks for posting this video Tim. It provided me with some good direction in getting my channel to grow. My channel's focus is on judo, jiu-jitsu and the grappling sports, and there is a lot of competition in this niche. My channel's grown to a bit over 6,300 subscribers and I think that's based on the fact that my viewers know they can rely on the information provided on my videos. My goal is to get more views per video and if anyone has any ideas, I am more than willing to learn. Again, thanks for what you do Tim.

    As always great tips. Learning some good tips from the UA-cam Pro's. My channel is slowly growing but I can see how these tips will help in the long run. UA-cam is like a Marathon, steadily add quality content and your channel will eventually rise in the rankings.

    Hi Tim! So I would love to pick your brain about something: I have been a content creator for over a year now, with a healthy growth of viewers and subscribers. My channel is a gaming channel that focuses on spreading positivity and kindness within the gaming community. My main demographic for my channel is younger (between 11-18). As soon as school started up in late August my views had a significant decrease. I was averaging about 400-1000 views per video, and now I'm lucky if I get 40-50 views. I notice also that I still get a lot of viewers during my weekly live streams, yet they don't watch my videos anymore. Do you have any advice to help me captivate the interest of my viewers again in regards to my videos? Do you think they need reminding or do you think maybe I should think of changing my formula for my channel? Any and all advice would be so much appreciated! Thank you so much, Tim. Absolutely cherish your wisdom and videos. - BuddhaCat

    I've been blessed to reach over 800 subs. It has taken me a few years. I still am building more content and connecting with my audience. I love the idea of epic thumbnails.
    But the thing I've seen that worked was connecting with your passion and running with it. Taking action especially when you are scared to do it..

    I structure English lessons, write all of the material myself, design tens of thumbnails from scratch (mostly as slides for the lesson per se), and finally, I put the video lesson together without any assistance - constantly working on my audio and video editing skills. My channel is growing pretty slowly, but I guess it's only natural because I have been working on it for 2-3 weeks only! That said, I feel lucky that I finally have spare time to work on a project I'm passionate about. Wish me luck! :)

    I do DIY projects. I dont have may subscribers, but what helped me the most is getting the word out on other platforms. E.g. for every project I do I always write an Instructable article. There are people who like diy stuff and therefore they are more likely to chek out your channel. Other great way of bringing traffic to my videos is via facebook groups. I found a lot of knife/axe enthusiasts there and they naturaly wanted to see the process of making a beautiful knife so they clicked on my video. Good luck with your channels!

    Great tips! I like categorizing your content in "discoverable" and "community" content! That's exactly what I was thinking of but couldn't quite put it into words. Doing a self audit of your channel is great, as well as maybe getting another influencer in your niche giving you some feedback. I did my first 2 channel collabs and they have been so beneficial. Especially since I'm trying to "reactivate" my viewers, having new traffic come to my channel from active members from another channel helps your channel grow naturally :)
