@@unknownalias5538 For a general purpose, do all type rifle, I think this is the best set-up. The Eotech doesn't have the best battery life but it does have the least amount of parallax (good for cqb), and the magnifier gives a little more magnification which (coupled with the fact the center dot doesn't enlarge when magnified), helps with accurate fire at distance. However, if you're shooting way out to distance (like say, greater than 300 yards or so), then a scoped optic might be a better option. As far as green vs red, that's more a preference than anything. On the one hand, the human eye is a lot more sensitive to green than any other color and green is brighter than red making it ever so slightly easier to pick-up. For me, however, I still prefer red since it's still plenty bright. Plus, it contrasts more with where I live (the Pacific Northwest), which is very green. If I were living in say, Arizona where the environment is more yellows and oranges, then I'd definitely go with a green reticle. Just my 2 cents.

I have this setup. Well the EXPS2-0 and g33 on my 6920. Great setup imo. The reticle DOES get clearer when the magnifier is used and like he said as long as your looking at your target through the site you won’t notice the dots around the reticle, of course this is without the magnifier.
If you are pairing this magnifier with the Aimpoint Compm5 (factory QD mount) you do not need the riser for the magnifier - use the small screw set. Also, do not over tighten screws - they will strip (be gentle and use a deep seating Phillips head screw driver). Perfect line up.
Really glad you did this vid. I've been in an internal debate on what I should put on my next build. This combo will be it and will be what I run for The Tactical Games.
This review helped me out for sure. I’m in the process of building an 8.5 300BLK rifle which I plan to run suppressed and only sub ammo for home defense and as a mountain hiking rifle. I would add the 3x magnifier down the road and just use the red dot portion in the mean time. I can still no issue hit 200-300m targets with a red dot but obviously some zoom power makes it easier. I have shot Eotech and the past and I do LOVE how clear they are and open the viewing is with both eyes open. I’m just hoping I don’t need any more zoom like 4,5,6 power. Then again I don’t think I’m going to be shooting sub sonic ammo out to 600 meters. I think I would be totally happy with this at up and save a 1-6x I price for my 10.5” 5.56 rifle.
That combo is ideal for the vast majority of AR 5.56 engagement situations. I could see where the 5X magnifier could arguably be the better choice for the longer precision shots but that's likely to turn into a gun lube debate. Hopefully, the day will come when i get to have my own unboxing moment with this or a similar Eotech package. Like many of my fellow firearm enthusiasts, that time will have to wait because there's a lot of competition for our discretionary dollars. I just spent my wad acquiring 2 brand new Ruger AR 556's. One each for my teenage son and daughter as their first center-fire rifle upgrade from their 10/22's. Very much looking forward to range time with my kids and the endlessly customizable AR platform. I have the EXPS3-0 and just got the G33 on a great discount, excited to take it to the range later today! I'm already getting almost 1MOA shots just with the 1x, so this should be a great improvement for my AR.
Have ALWAYS used EOTech. From the 512 to the 552 to the EXPS 3-2 all with the same magnifier. Don't have to buy the 3.3X magnifier twice. Just move it from rifle to rifle and sight to sight. No 'tunnel vision' and wide viewing range critical in CQ.
Shoot with your Eotech at the range for 2 hours, 50 times per year for 5 years without battery issues. It took me awhile to get to love my Eotech. But i like it the best now.
Yep going to need that future review of the g45 and g43. 3x target ID is the only downside compared to LPVO 6x and now 8x or 10x. Excellent detailed review!
I have the Daniel Defense Ambush Firearms AR15 series in Real Tree Camo. I love it for hunting. And if I shoot the Army's M855 5.56 ammo it works with the ESPS 3-4 reticle perfectly. My barrel is only 18" long and I think that the reticle is designed for that bullet with a 20" long barrel. So I may have a little less energy at the end of the 18" long barrel vs the 20" long barrel.
The 5 power magnifier is what I want! After goofing around with 3 power, it's just not enough enough. I'd favor a fixed power 4 power Acog with either offset sights or QD mount on the ACOG to swap it on/off quickly. Maybe its my eyes, but I have fairly good eyesight and I just can't use 3 power effectively past 100 yards, and it doesn't give me the detail I need at 100 yards to really be worth it.
Ive run a magnifier on everything from eotech, aimpoint, holosun, and vortex. Its almost a must for me. Besides being old, ive got astigmatism, and wear glasses. Getting old aint for sissies!
I have the 2 dot version and the G33 magnifier on a 12.5" AR pistol. Very nice and versatile. I'd imagine the 4 dot would be a little more useful on a longer rifle with the 5x.
In the 2000's the best flip to side mount seemed to be LaRue. The Aimpoint 3x magnifier had better eye relief at the time. I have a new Eo magnifier but I think i still might like the old Aimpoint though it doesn't have the adjustments. I'll have to do a side by side again.
Been researching (or agonizing) optics and narrowed it down between this or a 'midrange' LPVO. For the money I'd rather go with this option. Thanks for making this a much more newb-friendly process!
When I look through the Eotech holographic sight it’s blurry but with I flip the magnifier over the red holographic sight is clear and detailed. I know I’m not the only one who sees it blurry
I find that focusing on the reticle it looks grainy. Likely due to the fact that the reticle is multiple tiny dots compressed together to make the reticle image. That's why the reticle is able to change size and position and maintain accuracy. I don't notice it as much when shooting both eyes open and focused on the target. Haven't used a magnifier yet but I here it helps clean it up also.
Just ordered the G33. The price definitely hurts a bit but buy once cry once. Can’t wait for it to arrive and hit the range. I bought an eotech a few years ago so luckily I didn’t have to buy the magnifier and the holo at the same time.
Holosun magnifier is my favorite one. It sits closer to your rifle when flipped out and the mount is steel unlike the fragile eotech mounts. Glass is also better than the g33. I have the exps3-4 and without a magnifier it kinda sucks. It's a pita to zero cuz you almost can't distinguish the dots. It's Like a line without the magnifier. I use the magnifier for hunting deer and coyotes. Makes it easier to identify what you want to shoot.
This is my setup. For shooting at 200 yards I turn the dot to the lowest setting I can see.. the dot gets small and helps accuracy. I get better than moa groups at 200. I love my eotech for up close but it's nice to get that accuracy at distance. Could I get better accuracy with a 1-6? Probably but I love the quick pickup of the reddot for anything close.. really is a happy medium. I've never shot past 200 cuz that's how for my range is but with my 2 dot version I'm confident I could hit a man size target at 500, although I would need to test this to be sure.
Thanks for the review of this product-just in time for it to be obsolete! J/K, but in all honesty, I would be very interested to see you review the new EOTech magnifiers-especially the new 5x. I'd love to know how FoV and eye relief compares. Yeah, they may publish those figures, but so often the numbers don't tell the whole story.
I bought one of these for my due all PSA AR 13.7 bulid because I have left side Cerebral Palsy so I can't run a LPVO scope lever with one hand and want to use this rifle build for deer season next year and the flip to side can be used from the right side
making eotechs great again! I had a love/hate relationship with mine. It ate batteries like crazy and I swear made them leak somehow. Otherwise it was awesome. Got rid of it in favor of an Aimpoint but I like the looks of this one, I might go back. I do wish they could match the battery life of some of the red dots, 3+ years. Oh well, 1000hrs is waaay more than I ever got out of batteries in my old eotech. Like 100x more.
What messed with me the most with my EOTech is the way the optic changes apparent size. Holding my ar at arms length the circle will fill the glass. If you flip up your BUIS, the reticle will shrink to it. Holographic laser sights are space magic!
Same effect with the red dot I have strangely enough. Has the 68 moa ring around it as well, looking through the buis shrinks the whole thing down to be very small
Bought a cheepo magnifier for my XPS3 to put on the Scar. It lasted 1.5 mags before the Holographic was dancing in the magnifier. Came home and ordered a G33. Buy once, cry once.
I've enjoyed this review, thanks for posting. I am looking at getting the four dot reticle and the manufacture states the dots "may" not be visible without magnification. I realize this is an older posting from you but I wondered if you can clarify that for me? Will I be able to see the dots at all without the magnifier? For example, outdoors in the 50-100 yard range? Farther than that I would use the magnifier. The package I'm looking at has the Exps3-4 with the EOTech 5x magnifier. Thanks again!!
I've been debating with myself whether to get a 2nd LPVO or give an Eotech + Magnifier. I always watched your review & Flannel Daddy's 😆 review. Love my Leupold 1-6x, but going to give Eotech + Eotech G45 Magnifier a shot. I'll likely be shooting this setup at 200yds and in. I like the idea of quick detach. Thanks for your video reviews! They are very informative.
So what is out on the end of the Pic Rail? Is that a flashlight? Not sure I want to add weight out that far out. I like EOTech a lot. Going to try the Leupold RDS, since I shattered their Pizmatic Scope w a heavy.
So here is my dilemma. Deciding between the prospect G43 and the G33, my fear is that the G43 will not be as rugged/durable as the G33. As we all know, cutting material to make something "smaller and/or lighter" isn't always the best. Also, from what I've heard through multiple sources is the the price of the G33 will not go down whenever the G43 is released. So would it be smart to go ahead grab a G33 in this scenario?
Man,I think you should send them to me for testing. I mean why not give it all of the real world testing it can have. Each person trains differently. Only makes sense to me. I can hold on to it for about a year or so and then give you my thoughts. No charge of course. Anything for the channel.
As usual, one of the clearest and most concise edifications on this topic - ever! This is why so may manufacturers/sellers use him as a consultant.
The magnifier really helps defeat the 'bloom' of the reticle! Sharpens it right-up.

I bought one of these for my due all PSA AR 13.7 bulid because I have left side Cerebral Palsy so I can't run a LPVO scope lever with one hand and want to use this rifle build for deer season next year and the flip to side can be used from the right side
Can I fish in that pond back there?
Just dont bump fire the krink in it
@@mcaque that's the best part.
making eotechs great again!
With how holographic sights work theyll never have the battery life of Aimpoints.
Yep, and I just keep a spare CR123 battery in my pistol grip wrapped up, and run MBUS for an added layer.
Dude I'm sold hopefully they give some kind of kickbacks any links for optics planet?
Awesome Mike! I still love mine too after many years!!!
Great video. If you were to choose a optic system or combo what would you go with if you can only choose one system?
What messed with me the most with my EOTech is the way the optic changes apparent size. Holding my ar at arms length the circle will fill the glass. If you flip up your BUIS, the reticle will shrink to it. Holographic laser sights are space magic!
Same effect with the red dot I have strangely enough. Has the 68 moa ring around it as well, looking through the buis shrinks the whole thing down to be very small
You dont let the doggies look at it anymore
Your puppies can look at it anytime

Brilliant review!
Price seems fair, I seem to recall these costing a lot more a little while ago.
I paid around $1000 for the HSS-1 system when I bought mine back around 2015
Glenn just ordered mine online today $1250 after tax
Bought a cheepo magnifier for my XPS3 to put on the Scar. It lasted 1.5 mags before the Holographic was dancing in the magnifier. Came home and ordered a G33. Buy once, cry once.
thanks for the report
had an eotech plus maginifer set up, battery life was 5 months, sold it and bought an t2 and some ammunition.
He said for those who are unfamiliar with eotech it has dots and you look through it put the dot on the target....... Brilliant
If you wear cheaters to see close, don't wear them. You are looking as though the dot is at the target.
I have a similar setup but with a sig juliet magnifier. I love it
nice
Excellent review, thanks.
Very informative. Thanks for the review!
Im working with a MEPro 21; no battery issues. No issues at all for that matter.
I love that you put an a2 stock on that rifle
I've enjoyed this review, thanks for posting. I am looking at getting the four dot reticle and the manufacture states the dots "may" not be visible without magnification. I realize this is an older posting from you but I wondered if you can clarify that for me? Will I be able to see the dots at all without the magnifier? For example, outdoors in the 50-100 yard range? Farther than that I would use the magnifier. The package I'm looking at has the Exps3-4 with the EOTech 5x magnifier. Thanks again!!
Agree! Would love to see G45 and EXPS3-4
Now you need to do a video on the new trijicon mro hd with magnifier
I have the FDE XPS 3-0 on my MK18 sbr. Love that donut of death.
Thanks!! Well done. Very helpful.
It's about time gun channels started using LIT intro music.
So what is out on the end of the Pic Rail? Is that a flashlight? Not sure I want to add weight out that far out. I like EOTech a lot. Going to try the Leupold RDS, since I shattered their Pizmatic Scope w a heavy.
Can I separate the magnifier from the mount and rotate the mount so it flips to the left? I’m left eye dominate so I shoot with my left.
Great video, just the review I needed. Going to order this system. I subscribed too.
Rifles and Precious Metals. 2 of my favorites
I’m in the same situation but I’d go ahead and grab the g33. 3x magnification is plenty to help reach out and see a target.
I just bought the optic super in love with it
I’ve subscribed to you Sir like 4x this year
Now that the 5x magnified is out would you prefer 3x or 5x
Awesome video brother , Long Live the Republic!!!!!!!
Much appreciated
best intro music so far brother
As usual....great review!
Did eotech ever fix their reticle shift issue under extreme cold/hot weather?
Yessir
This is a great video, answered a lot of questions, I was having about adding a magnifier to my red dot, or getting a low power optic. Thanks.
@mrgunsngear in the intro, which BCM upper with the FSB and silencer are you running in this video? Thats my ideal dream setup! 14.5”?
Zero reviews on the G45 5x magnifier. Any chance you could pull it off?
Man,I think you should send them to me for testing. I mean why not give it all of the real world testing it can have. Each person trains differently. Only makes sense to me. I can hold on to it for about a year or so and then give you my thoughts. No charge of course. Anything for the channel.
Dope video I think you helped me make my choice bro!!
