- The debut trailer for our first game Reset. Everything you see in the trailer is straight from the in-game engine, no up-ressed textures, geometry or effects. What you see is what you will get. Except hopefully a little bit better since we're not even in alpha yet.

6 years later.... I still remember this trailer.
Meee toooo but is end :(
9 years later, so do I. I wonder if this game will ever release. It is such an interesting looking project
@@BenyBenator On their website about a month ago they officially announced the end of development :(
@@soetdjuret sad indeed
Bad end.
9 years and counting. so beautiful what audiovisual can makes us feel. its like everyone here on comments never forgot the feelings on whatching it for the first time.
hope it comes out someday, but if not, we are all like bounded by these feelings
This trailer reminds me that very talented people are working hard and passionately on games that none of us will ever see.
This trailer should remind you that many people got scammed by this "dev" team
Dang just now I remembered this trailer and had to scourer the internet to find it. Now I did and realize it never released. I don't even know what it was about but wanted to play it solely from this trailer.
in their blog, devs are excited to report their involvement with Alien franchise. It seems like there is another franchise they totally forgot about.
@@kuklama0706 In that blog post they did say development on Reset is still continuing. But that was in January 2019. I bet their next excuse for why the game is so late is covid.
One of the most amicable "sorry we messed up" Kickstarter-Failure videogames I ever knew... And honestly the emotion with which the project started, its death and resolution matches completely...
I do hope they're still out there making stuff.
This inspired me in so many ways. I still watch this from time to time.
i'm still absolutely gutted that this was cancelled. still one of the most atmospheric and haunting trailers i've ever seen, just brilliant work from the devs.
The music is gorgeous and so is the video. You grabbed my attention.
It's mind-blowing that this is being created by two guys. Just read the DSOG interview. The volumetric fog does wonders. Always psyched to see screen space reflections.
Last night I came up with a short story in a 3 am crisis. When I finished it I remembered this masterpiece of a trailer. I watched it again today and thought "well, I better check to see if this guys completed this beautiful piece, and maybe I can give it a try." I checked the site and there it was:
"In Theory… Game Over (Posted by a_Oksaharju)
Dear friends and fans. It is with the heaviest hearts we have to inform you that we’re officially suspending the development of Reset indefinitely and closing down shop. The tl;dr reason for this is simply that we are utterly and totally spent. Mentally, physically and financially."
I am so sorry for you guys that this project had to come to a conclusion. Maybe it was not meant to be. Maybe the world wasn't prepared for it and that is why the conditions for it seeing the light weren't there. However you have given us a beautiful 2 minute cinematic wonder that resonates with people through the years (and is made clear form the comments that are added even as the years pass) (bless the internet for allowing this to happen).
I cannot speak for everyone, but I can certainly say that you have given me a beautiful story in its own, where posibilities are endless.
Thank you and good luck.
I saw this 10 years ago. It STILL looks next-gen. Your website is still up. There must be a way.
For something rendered ten years ago this has aged really well.
This. Right here. This is art.
I just suddenly remembered this trailer in 2021. So cool.
I still want this game.
Welp, that convinced me to buy a decent gaming PC
and now you have millions of subs since then!
I hope your PC is great. Too bad it will never play this.
Prepare to cry?
This music is so good. Great job! Im waiting for more !
Soorrry its end :(((
I'm not sure how to describe this feeling of pure elation I'm having. This is a favourite vague beginning I use to start many different daydreams.
Guy integrated with technology of various forms, in stasis, awakes years sometimes eons later.
You do not know how much i'm yearning to play your game. It's a hyper advanced version of something I've held privately very entertaining for years. I literally cant believe how lucky I am. Thankyou.
Not even in alpha-- Yet STILL looks better than CoD ghosts
9 years later the development has come to an end, not being finished but the devs are finished mentally, physically and financially.
I'm still waiting for this game
Don't, it's officially cancelled now
@@semirionu Damn 🤬
@@Alnilam82 😞
Graphics are incredible, but that aside, this is one of the best trailers I've ever seen. It conveys an idea without use of words, leaves an impression with its haunting melody, and has actually made me want to play the game, which is more than can be said for a lot of trailers these days.
Music in the game is great, thank you :)
Well, Not only is it interesting that this immaculate piece of software was worked on by only two people, but the concept in general looks rewarding and original. Will be a definite buy if it leaves a impression like this trailer has.
I had it on 360P by accident, it still ended up looking better than anything you can get on PS4 or Xbone.
Very excited to hear more about this. If you're being serious about everything in the trailer being straight from the in-game engine, then I'm seriously impressed.

This looks beautiful and I can't wait to explore this world.
Reading these comments in 2020 is pretty funny.
People, stop fighting against each other and enjoy the goddamn work of art that is this video.
F in the chat
Wtf, 12 years ago. I have no idea what it is,but I'm glad UA-cam recommended it.
Please succeed.
It's end :(
These gorgeous real-time in-game graphics from a proprietary engine that's not even in its alpha stage yet? That's amazing.
Only for PC
Barack Osama still not even out like most ambitious pc projects
Beautiful, especially the music. The piano was gorgeous.
there has been a few games lately that give me goosebumps of awesomeness this is one of them
Finally something that seems in par with those 3d mark dx11 demos. Great lighting and great post processing effects. That shallow dof and grain...can move you to tears. The olnly thing that can tell you its realtime are the quality of the clouds, grass billboards and the undersampling for the light shafts/god rays...Truly great work guys! Start a kickstarter campain i want to support you!
Holy crap. There's just two of you working on this? How... how... this looks better than pretty much anything I've seen out of a major game design studio with millions of dollars and an army of software engineers.
You mean there's nothing game-play about it. It actually is very much a game, as everything there is actually a sprite, being rendered in real time, as opposed to just a video file. Sure, it's a video file by the time it reaches UA-cam, but the same is true of, say, a Skyrim walkthrough.
Good job Mikko and Alpo, you have successfully created a trailer that keeps me on the edge of my seat for the whole two minutes, twenty-five seconds, and makes me want to first cry, then throw my money at you.
This trailer was so awesome it has almost made a tear roll down my cheek... almost... dont know anything about the game yet but the trailer is a work of art on its own.
Hard to believe this is all in-engine and everything.
This game is going to be beautiful.
I bought this game seven years ago and it still hasn't been released. No news about its development in two years. Even if the game gets released some day, I'm not sure I want to play it anymore because I hate the developers so much for the fact that the game is six years late from the first targeted release date (Christmas 2014), and for their lack of communication.
I have no idea what the developers are doing these days, but it sure as hell looks like they haven't done anything in the past four years, except for making empty promises.
A short timeline of events:
2012: Reset is announced.
2013: Reset gets crowd-funded.
2014: Devs tell they are targeting the end of 2014 for release. Release gets pushed back.
2016: Release date is set: December 20th, 2016. Release gets pushed back.
2017: April 13th: "News about release incoming next week." No further news about anything in 2017.
2018: "We're still working on it." In an article on Vice the devs say they are aiming for a 2018 release. No release, no news about development.
2019: "We made an Alien franchise game, go buy it. Oh and Reset is still in development."
Another way to look at this is to see how the developers have communicated over the years. Here's the yearly amount of blog posts on the game's website:
2012: 15
2013: 25
2014: 9
2015: 16 (a few of which are "shitposts" that had nothing to do with the game development)
2016: 4 (one of which was an April fools' joke)
2017: 2
2018: 1
2019: 1
2020: 0. Nothing. (I'm writing this on December 6th, 2020)
This is in-game footage. That is one reason why this looks like the best game ever.
This definately raises the bar for visual content in games. Very well done!
Proably the best trailer I've ever seen. No action (rare for games these days), yet so much more thought provoking. You go watch the CoDBlOps2 trailer and it tells you the entire plot. This . . . I want to know more.
Even if the graphics weren't that impressive (basicly everything what people are discussing about), this trailer is very very well put together, absolutely love it, looking forward to what this game is about you definatly peeked my interest, keep up the good work!
The trailer and main theme song is INSANELY beautiful!
Because it's end :(
Damn. This is stunning. You guys should make a movie. Seriously. Tie-ins are good stuff.
Beautiful rendering. Beautiful cinematography. Beautiful music.
Simply amazing, keeping an eye on this.
"What you see is what you will get"----> I'll believe when I see the gameplay
In-game? Wow, just wow. I'm glad that our country's gaming business is doing good, and that is what motivates new developers to start making games like this.
one of the best hit&runs in indigogo. nicely done.
LOL
I remember showing this video to my ex girlfriend 11 years ago because she showed a very similar classical music song that inspired the music of this trailer. LMAO. Time flies!
If you watch the video, it never goes to night time, clouds pass over the sun, but the sun does not even look as if it changes position. Hours at most have passed during this video. that's crazy growth!
My god this looks amazing. If this is truly how the game will look I commend you for such a huge effort put into the graphics. I am not saying graphics is everything because I truly enjoy the game mostly for its story line or whatever it maybe, but damn yall must be putting allot of effort into the graphics also.
It saddens me that we haven’t heard anything from this game in quite some time. I’ve resigned myself to its cancellation, but who knows, we might just hear from it again.
Congratulations. You've made something pretty. Let's just hope the insides of the pretty thing are better than the outside.
PLEASE PLEASE LET THE STORY & GAMEPLAY BE AMAZING. i really dont wanna be meh after going super hype on the awesome graphics.
I still can't believe these are ingame pre alpha graphics X_x
This just shows how much far ahead PC is of current consoles, when 2 guys can make such a magnificent looking game.
Fantastic. Excited to see how this turns out.
Amen, this looks stunning.
i dont care if this game ever came out, this video itself is a piece of art!
FOUR freaking years have passed since I watched this trailer...
There is no such thing as time. :D
Wait, is this game a thing?
ShadowGhost2
It is. I hope it will be good :)
+Koko the Arabian will it be on steam or independent?
ShadowGhost2
I'm not sure, but likely it will on Steam.
8+ years later... did this ever come to fruition?
You Also can see my 8 Years old Comment and it getting older, still no update last time is 2019. :(
Beautiful video...simply stunning visuals and already the game has a feel. Very impressive!
Where were you back in the 80s and 90s? FPS started on the PC with Wolf 3D, deep immersive RPGs on the PC with games like Ultima, Planescape, Baldur's Gate etc. The first RTS might be on the Sega, but it was the 2nd RTS, Westwood's Dune 2 that revolutionised and made popular the RTS genre together with Blizzard joining in the fray with Warcraft and Starcraft. We were making virtual Cities, Theme Parks, transportational networks with the Sim/Tycoon games. MMOs started off with MUDs on the PC.
It is not about the speed with which they grow (hint, that part of the video is a time lapse, you can tell because of how the sun moves) but how they seem to start as a miniature version then grow larger, stretching themselves. Wood does not stretch, individual branches of a tree will always remain at the same height as it grows, no matter how tall it gets.

I don't think I've been this excited by a debut trailer of a pre-alpha indie game since, well, ever. If this is going to Kickstarter I'll back the hell out of it, if it isn't I'll buy two copies.
very interesting...this is what we need to see more off in games, taking some risks and not being afraid to try something new
"Everything you see in the trailer is straight from the in-game engine, no up-ressed textures, geometry or effects. What you see is what you will get. Except hopefully a little bit better since we're not even in alpha yet."
Oh. My. God.
Holy shit those plants grew fast, not even a whole day passed while they grew to full size, what kind of universe is this game set in!
wow im at a loss of words im excited to see what happens
The day of my Birthday! Now that is two things I have to look forward too!
Although, I do agree in your response to the other dude, 110%. My current rig ran me $900 with a recycled graphics card from an old build of mine, and it has NO problem at all with current gen games.
8 años esperándolo, aun no pierdo la esperanza :(
Ffffuuuuuuuu----ck this looks just amazing. I saw a video showing off the sun ray simulation before and was amazed, and you even have such a great rain simulation? And you're just two guys? How long have you been working on this? I'm just blown away. This is stuff you haven't seen anywhere else before.
And no I'm not someone who just drools about graphics and wants nothing else, I don't care if a game is 8bit or has old graphics if it's good. And the concept sounds amazing.
This trailer alone is a masterpiece!
I might have to check this game out. It looks pretty awesome, and hopefully the gameplay is quite good too. The fact that it is being made PC Only for now is very helpful to the gaming community.
Great trailer, superb music choice, really well done overall.
This is the engine. And as they said, this is Pre-Alpha. They can and will improve before the release of the game.
The graphics look amazing, I've never seen any in-game footage that looked that nice, it was more like a rendered trailer. Though I didn't really get what the game was on about from the trailer, I had to go to your website to really understand.
simply gorgeous
The music is gorgeous.
omg this october is going to be the best, with the steam machine releasing beta, fairs being open, and now this!
Absolutely stunning!
put it in this perspective: Crysis was released in 2007 and apart from lack of Deferred lighting because at the time it wasnt available, it's still the best looking game. Then think about the diference between a 2002 and 2007 game, there is a similar leap now between 2007 and 2012, but this time consoles are keeping game developers back.
I did not expect how that hand moved at the end. That kind of movement range suggested that robot was gona be fully functional. It wasnt just a finger twitch but the whole arm moved and very fast.
I still remember trailer, and waiting for gameplay.
This and Dead Island have the best trailers for any game I've ever seen.
Beautiful. Can't wait to see more!
Holy shit, third or fourth time watching this and I only just realized that the thing on the left side of the shot inside the "robot" is actually a person..
I really hope this game is as great as it looks right now.
THIS IS how the game looks like, its taken right out of the game engine. Check their blog, and check the screens of them making this trailer IN GAME ENGINE. No shininess or enhancement.
Considering the craftmanship that went into making this trailer maybe you should be making a movie instead.
Yes, it could. You don't need to upgrade your pc often at all, you can optimise it and have much more utility to do so, not to mention the general freedom to specialise it as you will. Consoles, at this point, are just archaic in their hardware. The Xbox 360 has 512 RAM, If I recall correctly. A four year old PC will have around 4 GB of RAM, for comparision.
Just beautiful....
We also have Shadow of the Colossus, Sony exclusive, which is rated by the critics like an "unique and breath-taking game". We have Heavy Rain which was the first game of it's kind, and that is being the base for a new game on the same style. Also consoles (Wii before anything else) created inovative and interactive controlers, which were later copied by PS3 and served as the base for Kinect.
Very optimisitc, here's hoping the devs will deliver.
They say it's prealpha still; according to some interviews they worked on the visuals first so they would have a solid base as to how the game world would feel while they were making it. The actual gameplay is being developed, apparently.
looks pretty, cant wait to see gameplay
