  • Chances are if you've been into cassettes for as long as I have, you know exactly what those two tabs are for at the top of a cassette tape. But if you are just starting to get into the cassette universe, maybe you are unsure. In this video, I talk about the purpose of those tabs.
I also explain what you can do if you own a tape and the tabs have already been removed, and how you can change that. It's just a matter of covering up the holes with scotch tape!
I recall doing this alot back in the day. When I was growing up in the 80s, cassettes were everything. People tended to buy the biggest hits of the day on tape. And like many people my age, we loved to record songs off of the radio onto a good old blank cassette. I still have many of the old tapes I made all those decades ago. I can still listen to them and enjoy them. They act as a very powerful time machine, immediately taking me back to that bygone era.
Even if you get your hands on some pre-recorded tapes by some artists that you really don't care for, that's no big deal. You can easily cover up the holes on top of those tapes and tape over the pre-recorded music.
There are also some other methods of taping on a cassette that has tabs removed. I will be discussing these methods as well in this video.
Are you still into cassettes? What is your favorite brand? What type of tape recorder do you have? Do you think cassettes are making a big comeback? Do you still listen to tapes? Feel free to leave a comment!
