I have done the same thing for my 2022 Ford Transit and noticed that the driver side rear door has no plastic "goop" seal around the inside, and nor does your Transit on the driver side rear door. I'm curious why one rear door has that water/moisture seal around the frame but not the other rear door? Did you ever investigate?
good videos rich! i'm looking at the same transit awd eco. also for diy camper build out. i'm pretty klutzy so hopefully youyr videos will help me. thx for doing them.
Thank you! I didn't remove the air bags, I would keep them there since the bag drops down incase of a side impact. The foam is an eyesore so I do plan to trim them so its smaller and can be covered with cloth later down the road. Checkout the Ford Transit USA Forums to see what others have done.
Great video! I’m about to start my Promaster build this month. What is the name of the sound deadening strips that you installed under the insulation? Could you tell much of a difference?
thank you and congratulations on your new build! the brand is kilmat, I think I put a link to it in the description and yes, it made a huge difference. Less echo and tin sounding and driving down the road. Combined with the Thinsulate insulation the sound inside the van is very nice and muted from the outside.
RichBuilt Good to know. Thanks for the info. I drove the Promaster last week and couldn’t believe how loud it was, so I’ll definitely be installing kilmat. Can wait to see some videos testing the van off road. I had an Explorer with AWD and was amazed at how well it was able to transfer power to the tires with traction. The transit supposedly uses the same technology with some of the same parts so it should work great. Where is the bridge located in your TN picture? It looks beautiful.
Also might want to put extra heat insulation in the cockpit reason being after driving long hours in the summer the residual heat off the exhaust and engine take longer to cool down and transfers to the living space in the van when you stop for rest and can take a few hours to cool down again
Awesome build so far! I saw quick shot in this video that the rear door interior latch was an actual handle. Mine is a yellow pull handle attached to a cable. Is that an aftermarket handle? If so, where did you get it?
@@RichBuilt Thanks for the quick reply. Mine is a 2019 passenger van with trim on the door. Maybe that's the difference. I'm hoping someone will make an after market for it.
Where did you find your Ford Transit multi-pack of tools? I've been watching your videos, but can't see a link as of yet. Thanks for sharing all this info. Not too many people making videos for the Transit.
Rich you got me thinking I should just do it myself. I've been eyeing the WB Revel, PW On-Tour 2.0 and PW Ascent. I've got the time and this would save lots of $$. Are you in California at all?
ellen ellis hi there I used a 40x60 roll. I think I put a link to it in the description. Had just enough left over to make some rear window covers :). Thanks you, definitely take your time and it makes the job easier
oh man the peeling off part. thanks for saving that for the video! haha love the new van.
the right tools for the the job what a concept. Awesome job.
Thanks Mo! always seeing others remove clips using screwdrivers makes me cringe
Nice work.

Where did you get the insulation to buy can I get the information on the insulation
Nice - looking forward to the build.
Clean install !

taibo55 thank you!!
Hey! Looks great. Did you remove the airbags behind the seats under the mountain of black foam? If so, do you have any resources or suggestions?

Great suggestion! I'll have to research how to remove the door panels as well
I wish you showed how you were doing that with the door there putting in the thinsulate.
Whats your question? Maybe I can help
Where can I get all the materials, your van looks great.
Saul, check out the links in the description for all the products.

thank you! no that is a factory part. My door is the 270 deg hinge type, maybe thats why its different?

Did you add insulation to the sliding door above the area with the faceplate? If so how’d you contend with the lock mechanism?
Hey Ethan, I just made a cut-out for the lock. I'll be doing the same for the wall panel.

LOL< Clearly I am blind. I was expecting a different name. Got it thanks! Buying now!
How much kilmat did you use?
Hi, I used two boxes. Link to it in the description :)
Rich, which car dealer did you purchased from
Sound Ford in Renton WA
Are you planning to isolate the thermal bridge points such as the ribs with EZ-Cool or cut up thinsulate or foam spray? Clean work; very cool!
thanks Anthony! I plan to just use thinsulate and EZ-Cool

Yup sunny CA! That’s the main reason I took on this project. No better time than now since everything is closed.
the transit interior walls are really messy compared to the sprinter
How much Thinsulate did your van take? Making it look easy!

@@RichBuilt Thank You!!
Thinsulate is good, Mineral wool is better, Areogel blankest are are best.
camera work is annoying jerky ...love the information less talk is ok and a little more detail in work process...good job
keep going
Thanks David, New AV equipment currently on the list but not super high on the priority. I’ll try to hold it steady, thanks for the input
