WOW !!!! This is a really masterpiece for certain. My neighbor has a pool and it's a constant maintenance challenge, not to mention plastic and concrete.. Job well done !!! Great music too.
nice, i've been researching this for a few years now. wife and i have been building our "last home" in the philippines, and it is almost completed. my project will then be to build a natural swimming pond. we will be doing something a little more tropical and natural, by using large stones for the walls, and boulders placed around. we are also going with a sand bottom, kinda like how the ecosys guys are doing it in brazil.
@@TheDreamfield I hope to start in the summer of 2023. I need to work a few more years. I'm finishing up all the out-buildings this year. Next year we build the big house, and 2023, we do the pool and scaping. I have a channel I set up called "Living Filipino", but I can't seem to find it.
Love the results. I want to do the same and have started and will also post. I like your approach to the retainer wall. Do you have plans for this? thank you
Excuse me if I am asking a dumb question. How much does this cost building a pond like this including all the construction cost, equipment and the 24 metric tonnes river stone. Do you need to get a permit building a pond like this as the water may give pressure to the landscape around. This is absolutely beautiful.
Hi! I get really motivated by the idea of having my own swimming pond by just watching this video. Tell me, please: What's the thikness of the liner you used?
@@apvsculpture OK, thanks! I think I'll go for a .042 pvc since in my country (Chile) this concept of organic pools is still quite new therefore quite expensive to achieve too, and the pvc liner seems to be the best option so far.. So I'll do what I can but I'll try to keep an image of your pond as an inspiration for it. Wish me good luck!
Very cool! I have been researching these for a few years, it is something how far these pools/ponds have come. I am wondering what type of soil you have; you only dug down in the dirt and then put the underlay/liner over...Is that correct, no wall in the 13 ft depth? This would save loads of cash! Then you used the red wood as a top plate and secured it with sand bags and L brackets...is this correct, no tie backs in the planting area? Also what is your length and width and how big of a pump did you go with? Thanks for any help or advice, or what plans /books you used. My sons will be so happy we can add fish as well! Thanks from a very interested Kansas Farm!!!
TNT Farms Hello, we have clay soil, no need for a wall down there. Dig hole, sculpt sides, put underlayment, liner, then wood retaining walls. You can never have enough filtration (here in California for sure). It’s easy in colder Northern climates as the algae isn’t as aggressive. Good luck!
I love these natural swimming ponds but could never understand why the swimming area is not crafted in much more natural ways. The rectangle looks too, well...unnatural.
Brian Tetley Some look more natural than others but the birds and wildlife don’t really have a preference. It’s about construction materials, budget and personal aesthetic.
I want to put in a NSP like this, without the concrete walls, but I have gophers. Worried they would come through the liner or weaken the walls of the pool. Have you had any issues with gophers? Or suggestions? Also, how did you get around not having a fence around it? I'm in So Cal. What I've researched says it will need a fence.
Water is dispersed around the perimeter and then percolates up through the gravel. Bacteria colonise the gravel and purify the water as it passes, with plants also removing nutrients from the water in the main pond.
Great pool! Does having fish in there cause you issues with water quality in the longer term? Things I've looked into suggest that they either stir up sediment and/or eat bugs which are important for keeping the water quality.
Water moccasins are here. Just killed a 4’ this week. But, the dogs swim in our big catfish pond & scare them away from the area they swim in. Dogs alert us of snakes & it’s been 10 yr. Different dogs but in all so far never been bitten. If they bark we go check it out
I'm wonderign if the wood that's used underwater is going to last for very long? And also why use pondliner in the deep parts? Wouldn't like cement last longer?
Could u tell me, I want to do this to the pool. No one swims in it , and it takes 7.5 gal of Clorine a week, that $85.00 per month ( I am in Florida ), but the home is my Son's, he says the pool will be RUINED, The finish, which is new, will be a disaster if ever he wants to put it back !! What do u think ???
This is cheaper than a typical construction of concrete and tile swimming pool. Maintenance is 10% of a traditional swimming pool. 'Cleaning' chemicals: $0
Can i contact you for more info on this?I have been looking at doing this for sometime. Can we talk about your experiences on this and mistakes to avoid
It’s hard to say but it’s pretty easy to add up the cost of the basic necessities that you need like the liner, the excavation, the rock, the pump, the plumbing. I did a lot of it myself but I probably spent about 15 grand or so
Whats the reasoning for so much shallow waters? Is it supposed to fill with plants? or all filter? Whats the cost of a liner that size?..what is the size?
Stan TheObserver actually I have found that you are better off with less shallow areas. If you have them make sure they are well planted or they are prone to algae growth. Cost of the liner you can look up pretty easily.
120 rainbow trout? That pond is going to be disgusting. 120 is about ten times more than people recommend, though most organic pond people don't recommend putting in fish at all. Their waste is going to turn that water into sludge
He fished them all out and released them to a local lake! In my pond, I have two Koi, and one bass. The bass keep the mosquito fish population to a nice balance. The Koi I never have to feed, they do fine scavenging.
Wow! That final shot with all the water plants and foliage grown in is amazing...beautiful!
They're all great but I really love the finished look of this one!
We are converting an old pool into a swim pond with perch in it. This video is really helpful! Thanks for sharing! Subbed
Great idea
Did you do it?
It needs love, knowledge and a good instinct to create a pool like yours, thank you for sharing!
WOW !!!! This is a really masterpiece for certain. My neighbor has a pool and it's a constant maintenance challenge, not to mention plastic and concrete.. Job well done !!! Great music too.
Pace Metal Fab and Waterjet Thanks! Maintenance with the pond too though
some recommend to have a thin hose on the bottom in the middle of the pond which pumps a little air into the water to avoid oxygen deficiency
Beautiful pool and love the Tosca soundtrack. Their whole discography is awesome...

been thinking about a sand bottom pool too. can you lead me to a similar video?
I will one day have the money to do this in my yard.

Great music, great pond!
More videos like this PLEASE! So incredible.
Absolutely best of example of mimicking Nature!
Beautiful. Do you have a schematic drawing of your filtration system? Would be really helpful!

What a cool project. Well done. Looks great!
That's great someday I could build also natural pond
This is way better at 1.5 speed. The music is really cool then.
Lol 😂 awesome
hahaha 100%, cheers
Nah, it sounds better at regular speed.
Ganda nman ng pool nio!

Why did you put geo pad over the rocks? How is debris suppose to get down there, do you have a way to filter out if builds up? Confused!
Amazing! Thank you so much for sharing.

Very cool, I will take many ideas from this. I don't understand what are the 4'' perforated pipes for, can you explain how that works?
Water is dispersed around the perimeter and then percolates up through the gravel. Bacteria colonise the gravel and purify the water as it passes, with plants also removing nutrients from the water in the main pond.
The purpose of the pipes is the opposite of what khaki wrote. They collect water, drawing it through the rocks which act as a filter.
Great pool! Does having fish in there cause you issues with water quality in the longer term? Things I've looked into suggest that they either stir up sediment and/or eat bugs which are important for keeping the water quality.
Ben Paynter I have four koi, one bass and a bunch of mosquito fish. My filtration can handle that fish load but every pond is different.
Beautiful!
How do these things hold up over the winter?
Bought the best I've seen.
What was the final cost?
I've been looking at this style for years now.
LOVE IT
Hopefully not snapping turtles! Looks great. How do you prevent or manage other wildlife such as frogs, ducks etc that might find the “pond”.
You don't ;)

How many hours a day u gotta run the pumps cause that will add up if their 220
does the pH and the water color will change after using this natural pool system? how?

good
are those algae eating fish? do they make the water more messy?
Is possible to make it with concrete in the place of this lot of "plastic"?? Thanks

You would need a different filtering process that would be external from your pool. Do some UA-cam searches for koi ponds and you’ll see the process.
Whats can u use as an alternative to that plastic liner?
Any idea the pump they had on it?
A água é conservada naturalmente ou usa produtos químicos?
what to do to keep mosquitos out from laying eggs in the pond?
That's probably what those small fish are for, to eat them
looks good, but not cheap to build or low operatiing costs.

What size air pump. I have all the plans I need but I just need more on the size pump and what brand. Thanks
The growing water plant areas is not deep, should have made it deeper, and grow a lot more water plants in there.
Any safety issues with little kids around? Same regs as normal pools?
Super, duper stoned lady says what?
How long will the wood parts last?
Wood can be preserved underwater for ages
@@apvsculpture I've heard that almost as many times as you but I'd really like a study or two to help me believe.
What is the dimension of pond
Cost?
Please tell me the owner isn't going to FISH in that pond?!
why not?
Seems legit. I think he would eventually have to fish em every now and then if they get too big
Won't them swimming 🏊/diving in the pool stress the fish?
They usually swim down to the bottom (13’ down)
The koi in my personal pond are fairly tame at this point and we swim around with them.
