Here is a timeline of just under 4 years of my composing journey- viewed through the lens of the various String Quartets I would write.
This is not the entirety of my composing journey- I've been "composing" music for as long as I've been playing, but I never wrote it down, and when I eventually did, I accidentally lost all of it. Not much of a loss though.

Beautiful pieces. Nice tones from the instruments. Very soothing with lots of changes. I listen to Classical music when I go to bed. This will be nice.

What software did you use for the second piece? Edit: The self reflection of your composition journey is a great idea.

All of it was made with Musescore- the earlier pieces were made with Musescore 3, the later ones with the now current (& much better) Musescore 4!

@Willow_Ramsay_Music Nice! Is the audio live recording, or Midi?

@@Untap101 All are midi- every single piece after the first one uses Musesounds with Musescore 4.

Interesting progress. Also instead of 31EDO have you considered using traditional 12 temperament with quarter tones and third semitones?

      Personally, I don’t like 24EDO & 36EDO that much, I much prefer 31EDO, particularly the 3rds & 7ths.
My first ever microtonal composition was in 24-EDO, but it used a lot of open quintal voicings which help provide clarity and a more immediately appealing sound. It was an okay starting point, but I don’t plan on doing much with it in the future.

@Willow_Ramsay_Music I see. Then how is it practical for human players to play in 31EDO? It's a prime number, so you can't rely on any exact similarity with 12EDO. So I wonder how it can be mastered.

All the 12-EDO note names are there, and are similarly tuned (but better imo). 12-EDO enharmonics are no longer equivalent, and semiflats/semisharps & sesquiflats/sesquisharps are now valid accidentals.
You could just tune a 12-EDO piano to the 31-EDO tunings (while also picking what accidentals you’re using, e.g. G# instead of Ab), play a Mozart Sonata and chances are it’ll sound great! Just with a different colour/intonation.
For actual performances, people can retune instruments, play fretless ones, create their own, buy an instrument like a lumatone, or just sing!
