Thanks for the upload Silent Hunter 2 and 4 are still games i go back and play once a year. Another good clasic is the Harpoon (series) which i also still play.
I have to admit, SH3 was the first SH game I played. I played Command Aces of the Deep forever until SH3 came out. SH5 had showed promise but was poorly executed. Have you played the u boat game at all? the one that is like a 3d cutaway.
@@Whiskey11Gaming Ive played the demo models were really nice, game play wise to easy to hit targets as the plotting is done by the game same for target recognition. Hopefully a realistic mode will be added.
More to come! I have three more episodes already uploaded to YT for SH4 due to release over the next month along side the Black Mesa playthrough and I may throw some other video content in there for S&G's.
W11, thanks for the upload. But at about 1hr 20min, you are discussing ASW gear on early war DDs and should have been using the term Active Sonar as that doesn't have power to get a return through a thermal layer. Hydro acoustic gear would include passive listening devices.
Hydroacoustic gear would similarly have problems getting through that Thermal Layer though for the same reasons, at least with any precision due to the refraction of the sound waves... at least... I'd think so. Not a sonarman on any ship, so I can't say I know for certain! :)
@@gyrene_asea4133 That's true. I'd say sensitivity, gain control, "white noise" control, frequency range, etc. It wouldn't be easy to compare except to say that generally speaking, Japanese sonar and hydrophones were not very well developed in the early war period and only really came up towards the end of the war when it was too late to matter. Japanese surface search and air search radars had similar issues.
Couple of things on an older video. While I find the external camera fun from time to time, I usually have it disabled. I'm surprised you use is as much, considering you're advanced enough to use manual TDC. It seemed to me that the task force was going sooooo slow that you could have snuck close w silent running and staying at 200', using passive sonar to determine position to surface and launch. The coloring of the mod is indeed beautiful. Last, you are semi- correct about thermal layers. However, it isn't the density of the ocean that changes. It's the speed at which temperature changes over a small depth band. A phenomenon that makes hunting surface ships and surviving fun. Not sure why you didn't creep forward running silent to finish the cruiser in a half hour less time. Thanks for the vid
I have the issue of Silent Hunter 4 always crashing when trying to exit patrol near port in mid-1942. I've heard it's from having too many saves, or saving near port.
Life is more fun with manual TDC! The auto TDC is like playing a FPS with an aim bot doing the work! That's no fun! ;) JK, if it's working for you and you are having fun, keep on keeping on!
Absolutely. There are surface ship mods, total overhaul mods, visual mods, campaigns for other nations, etc. Subsim Forums has a great repository of mods to surf through for SH4

Good to see you back! Even better to see you playing this.

*insert Empire Strikes Back Asteroid Chase music*
For me the best part its Silent Hunter 3 ❤❤
This is actually SH4, but it's effectively the same game but about US Fleet Boats instead of the German U boats.

@@Whiskey11Gaming Well yes, but measuring "power" of passive listening devices might require some interesting metrics. : / Sensitivity, maybe?

Right, so I'm not the only one that played SH4 for 1000+ hours and SH5 for about 3 hours.
Love SH4.

If you are based at Manilla at the start of the war you can find a Japanese task force near the coast at tip of the island northwestern side.
Yeah, task forces in an S boat address a bit scary with short range torpedoes and no depth to work with!!!!

Your voice is very nice and match with the video
Oh dang. Hopefully I can catch the stream next time

How do we contact you in regards to doing a beta test or a review for our game?
What mods are you using for this please? I'm tempted to try the Silent Hunter series but I'm not crazy about fiddling about for hours with mods.
Only mod installed is Real Fleet Boat. I went into the mod and deleted a file to get map markers back.
@@Whiskey11Gaming Ok thanks.
Hello, nice video! a question, where can I find the black clock you have in your mod? thanks
The only modification I have is Real Fleet Boat 2.0 which is available from the Sub Sim forums! I hope that helps! :)
Uss s-37 was commissioned 1923
And laid down 1919
Whenever I get on this sh4 program, I always stick with auto tdc.

Does SH4 have enough mods out there to put it on par with SH3 and 5?

@@Whiskey11Gaming Hey, thanks!
How do you get the mod you are using, any website for it.
It should be available on the SubSim forums! :)
Youve got to be the worst pirate ive ever seen
Hello there!
Why hello there!
what mods are you using?
Real Fleet Boat is the only mod installed. I did revert the map markers back to the default ones just to add tails back to the map markers.
