  • Everything was done by me.
    Modeling and texturing of the Ship took about 4 days.
    Making the environment took about 3 days.
    Final render took about 48 hours of render time with just 200 samples and denoiser.

    Great stuff ! I've been doing some ww2 era renders myself and I was going to do a naval scene for one of my next videos ! I'm happy to have stumbled across this, very inspiring, keep up the great work.

    Oh damn I wish I came across this video a few months ago, I had a job very similar to this one and the shit wake was so damn hard to get that in the end I switch software completely. But the texture projection on the water is a very clever idea, I don't know why I didn't think about it.

  • @tomiviitanen
    @tomiviitanen 2 роки тому +7

    Really good job with the white water! So it's just a video texture projected to ocean? It does sell the job perfectly. I wonder if you could done that for the ships further away also since the trails would spread away so much.

    • @mlt-studios
      @mlt-studios  2 роки тому +4

      yea, I was thinking about that as well. You can find videos of these ship wakes from further away, but then you cant really get close to it, or it wont hold up. So you somehow need to mix some for closeups, while still being able to go far away.
      Also, there are not to many good videos of these ship wakes. Most of the time the ship moves out of frame quite early, or the camera moves to much, that even with stabilizing the shot, you'll get a lot of motion blur.

    Magnificent, especially for something made in that short amount of time! Did you render it yourself? May we know the specs of the computer?

    • @mlt-studios
      @mlt-studios  2 роки тому

      Yes, I rendered it myself . Took about 36h of render time with just 200 samples. As you can see, there is a lot of flickering due to the denoiser. But I did not want to increase the render time even more.
      I have a GTX 1070

    Awesome work. It's a shame there's so little time to observe the boat, as it looks very detailed ;)

    • @mlt-studios
      @mlt-studios  2 роки тому +1

      Haha, that is intentional. A lot of the boat details does not really make sense. I did model it specific for this shot, and did just make it work for that. You could probably spot a lack of details without the motion blur

    Wow, amazing! 48 hour of render, can you use your computer while the scene renders? 48 hours is a long time. Did you put the max sample in 200 for the render? Blender's default max sample is 4096, that's a lot isn't it? Sorry for the questions.

    • @mlt-studios
      @mlt-studios  Рік тому +1

I also added the same image to an emission shader on a sphere, which I made really big, to fit the whole scene. I had to bring up the strength to 5, so that it emits enough light to basically function as an hdri.
