H Town legends! I've been lucky to have played on the same bill as the Hates a few times in the mid to late 90s. Christian has always been very cool and supportive of the younger bands. A real class act.
@thepunkrockreview watching now. Met him a few times over the years. I have 3 of their albums he signed. Crazy how time flies. I'm one of those teenagers he was talking about and now I'm an old man.
Hates rule! What a nice dude too! Only one thing i'm confused by (and maybe I'm hearing the story wrong): Norah Jones? Ravi Shankar's daughter? She was born in 1979. Am I missing something?
Yeah im not sure who was talking about, either. Norah Jones was the piano playing gal from the 90s and 00s, lol. I'm gonna ask him to clarify who he meant, next time we talk
@@thepunkrockreview I'm assuming it's just a memory mix-up or getting confused with someone else. lol. Seems like the most genuine dude and those early Hates recordings kick so much ass. great interview.
Here's a tip on interviewing. Don't talk more than the person you are interviewing. I get that turning it into more of a discussion makes it flow better and also breaks the rigid monotony of a boring interview but the subject is what people are interested in. There was over 45 years worth of history with Christian and the band that was just skipped over here.
You know, this kind of comment is so fucking dumb. If you don't like my style of content, feel free to not watch. I know how to do this, and it IS a conversation, not just an interview. I was willing to sit here all day and listen to him talk and it's just the first of hopefully many talks with him. If you think we were getting 45 years of Hates history in one conversation, you're insane. Christian likes to bounce from subject to subject, so an entire history was never going to happen in one go. I thought I did a great job with this, and so did he. Anyway, I don't know you outside this one interaction, so I don't have any issue, but don't tell me how to do my job. If you'd do better at it, feel free to start a channel. I will help you get interviews. Separately, Christian was lovely, I can't wait to do it again sometime
@@thepunkrockreview So sensitive and thin-skinned. And here I thought I was giving you sound advice in a non-confrontational manner. Take it, or don't. Let your ego decide. And it is ego. Lest you miss the part where you think people who click on this interview of the musician of a long-time band are really going to be interested in your personal life. If it isn't clear - people watch (or read or listen to) interviews of the person being interviewed, not the person doing the interview. But, I'm the "fucking dumb" one, right? You notice I didn't comment on your other interview videos. It's because I don't care to watch stuff I don't have an interest in. I do have an interest in an interview with The Hates. An interview that is close to an hour and a half would have a normal person thinking it was all about The Hates, not the interviewer talking about his personal life. If it's the former, then great. If it is the latter then expect people to gripe about it. But, as I said - Do what you want and be that guy with the huge ego. I see that the Dan Frampton guy got you thinking you are the next big thing or whatever he said. He is another guy that makes it all about himself. Or that other big ego guy, called Fint or something.
@@thepunkrockreview You did absolutely fine and as someone who never grew up in Houston, I've heard plenty of awesome stories from Christian in this interview. If this ChargerBullet dork is so great at interviewing, maybe he should start his own channel and invite Christian of the Hates on to his show, so we little guys can absorb all of his profound, professional interviewing prowess. Otherwise, he's just another ungrateful nobody who contributed nothing, and is lucky to have over one hour of a FREE interview that he otherwise wouldn't have, at the click of a button.
For anyone watching, that January 11th show with Valhalla Cinema is now on March 29th. Also playing every Wednesday in March at Dan Electro's!
I pinned this comment for you 👊😎🏴☠️
