MIDI Mapping Pitched Cue Points in Serato DJ

- Denon DJ's MCX8000 controller has a new feature called "Pitch Play," which enables DJs to play pitched cue points as they would with notes on a keyboard. While the feature is currently only available on the 8000, German inventor Radikarl has made a MIDI mapping for Serato DJ that brings similar functionality to other hardware, like Pioneer DJ's DJM-S9.

great video. also to show the how flexible Serato is now. Most people choice Traktor cause of their effects and Midi-mapping. But Serato has come along way in two years. Their effect are very nice and midi mapping is a great new improvement. I use Traktor scratch mostly but i have fun using Serato as well. i have that pitch play mapped to my sync buttons since i dont use those buttons anyway, it is only two notes but it is fun to play with.

Hey thanks for your video! This is amazing…I was a traktor user but I wanted to switch to serato and since I'm a pianist I mapped key pitching identical to this one on traktor.
So will this really work just changing the "channel number" and "note/key/other number" in the xml file before importing it?
Do you have to change anything else since the controller is not an s9 or…you're good to go?

+DJCity I looked up midi monitoring and its for Mac only, is there a PC equivalent????
This is already in Traktor. Without having to go through other software. This is why I believe that Traktor is a better software

the main reason for me to get traktor would be for midi mapping capability. I have serato so knowing the details on how to do cool mapping would be awesome. Or if Serato added a cool mapping interface haha

Anybody know if this is compatible with MacOS Sierra? I've followed all the instructions to the tee, but nothing seems to happen when I load the track and set the cue points, even after hammering on the pads in user mode 1-4

Please, help me. Rekordbox have keyboard pad mode, serato have pitch play pad mode.
But rekordbox have key shift pad mode, serato doesn't heve this function, or this is possible pad function on serato like key shift pad mode on rekordbox?

is there anyway to switch to internal mode or back to relative mode just using the buttons on the s9? And do you have a video on the s-9? I would like to know the difference between the beat effects on the left verses the beat effects on the right
Scott King Yes all you have to do is midi map one of the pads for internal/relative mode. Just open your midi panel and assign the buttons.

Worked for me, downloaded the generic keyboard version, using it with QuNexus.
Are you limited to just 8 notes or can you go up or down octaves since you have QuNexus?

Im trying to midi map everything on the maschine mk2 but it keeps coming up as a error when i try to load the preset. Can anyone help me out? I changed all the control channels to the proper pads on my maschine as well but no luck

Yes, but you'll need to go into the mapping XML and change the controls so they correspond to one of the layers on the 62 cue buttons.

yes, 100%. Im doing a completely new midi for my reloop, witch is an official controller as the sp1. Use Komodo for the XML files an see the tutorials from djtechtools.

WHERE DO I FIND THE DAMN FOLDER TO ADD THIS MIDI MAP TOO!!! HAHA Im getting frustrated just trying to find the place to add this file !!!!
If you haven't found it, go to the main music folder of your computer (C:/User/Your Name/Music/Serato) There should be a midi folder, go there and go to the XML file.

This is by far the worst BS "explanation" Djcity has ever put out regarding pitch play! He doesn't explain that you have to hit shift plus the roll button to get to user 2. He doesn't explain exactly how to load up pitch n time except for saying you drag it to midi folder! What's the point of even showing it if you're not going to really explain how to do it??

Actually, you can set the S9 to allow a triple press of the "ROLL" button to get to user 2......... did you read the instructions...?
