You guys should do a video on the Rane 62 because that the mixer that really changed the game and that where pioneer got some ideas to make the S9. The 62 is still being use by Dj’s because is made like a tank.✊✌️
I got this mixer for my DJ crew a few years ago, and it’s been a workhorse; we love it. Indeed, One other thing that was missing, though, was a dedicated record out on the back. With several of us using the mixer during a gig, it’s a pain when you have to rely on DJs not messing with the master setting to mses up a recording because of clipping, so that would have been nice to have. But otherwise, wer’e sure to use the mixer for a few more years yet....but yes, I’d be looking for a newer mixer and hold off on getting it unless you can find one at a good secondhand price, with the caveats mentioned in the video. Nice job with the perspective of time.
Can't believe this mixer came out in 2015!!!! And yes it has been the industry standard!!! I brought a Numark Scratch and for the price it is a hell of a mixer but it's about half of the S9! It is definitely a very good mixer but it only does half of the things the S9 does. So now I'm going to check out the Rane 70. you can't go wrong with a RANE!!!!!
I'd love to see a mixer that comes with it's own screen so you don't need a laptop anymore. That way it becomes the first standalone Dj Mixer. Then you only need a pair of turntables and you're ready to go.
I’ve been DJing since the mid 80’s, I’ve owned 30-40 mixers throughout the years. I owned the 909 in the 90’s and it was ground breaking for many reasons. This is hands down the best scratch and open format mixer. The best electronic music mixer is the Nexus 2 and the Rane MP2015.
Do any people in this thread own this mixer? I have noticed a critical flaw in the design and wanted to link up with some of you to see if you can replicate the issue?
I have a friend that has a S9 that he doesn’t use anymore and can get it for $400 I haven’t decided I’d I want it yet since I have a Rane one one I rarely use my mixer and turntable or cdj set up!
The numark scratch is good mixer better than using a standard two channel mixer the denon ds1 and couple of reloop neons. Its near £600 with the numark scratch for £400 is bargain fir what you get serato dj pro and dvs unlocked
We wish we had two of them to start with haha! Not sure about the nail polish, we would recommend using a skin to protect the fader area if your model is one with the weaker paint!
@@Crossfader..I was going to check out another mixer,because my primary is not a battle mixer,since I spin a variety,and use other hardware at the same time.I use the original Rane Mojo,yet i could possibly use the Pioneer with controllers/CDJs.I am sure the polish,some kind of shellac,or something else can protect the finish,and keep the exact look..I will ask around because some fellow geek will have some solution..
The Pioneer DJM S9 is a great mixer. However, people that think it was original or first with the main features should know more about the history and evolution of DJ Gear. There's custom Xml files for the S9 will give you independent pad mode functionality and the silent cue point feature

How do you check the xlr and rca for uneven output?
Something to take notice- the S9 had a huge price drop this year. That usually means a new mixer is coming for Pioneer.
