Hi. It's nice to see that some good, decent, and "innocent" things are still around for one to enjoy. Another example is the movie in France at Epcot. While it was made in the early 1980s, it too provides, not only a very good tour of France, but a positive one as well. I recognize that we must accept some change in our society, but not all of it is good. And, I like to have something good from the past to hang onto.
I remember seeing this when I went to Disney World when I was 7 and loved it.I re-watched this now at the ageof 16 and still remember the words! Ahhh good memories
How love how content they are with what they have in each era and the constant surprise and delight with progress. And I love the relentless optimism! It's this kind of ride that inspires the mind and stays with you long after the adrenaline from thrill rides has gone.
This isn't the one I remember from the 70's and 80's, but most of the same elements are still there. I've been watching a lot of the rides today and it really takes me back. It's amazing how Disney's rides haven't changed too terribly much over the decades and STILL resonate with me today. I thought they retired the carousel, though. It is one of my favorite childhood memories. I am so glad technology has provided me the ability to go back to my treasured days.
The voice of the father is Jean Shepard. He wrote the story that inspired the film "A Christmas Story". He also appeared in the movie and played the part of the gentleman who says to Ralphie and his brother as they're getting in line to see Santa "The line ends here. It begins back there."
WOW! Talk about a blast from the past. Thank you for posting this. I visited WDW in 1979 and remember sitting through this presentation. This version is slightly different. In the version I saw, the 1920s daughter wore her hair in a black bob and she spoke about women's rights and the last family scenario was much, much different. Thank you very much for posting this video clip.
If they added a new scene today it would be 4 minutes of silence with everyone's heads down looking at their phones. All you will hear is just texting sounds. Then when the scene was over they would just sort of mumble "Its a great big beautiful tomorrow" while looking down at there phones. Are you sure you want it updated now??
We just got back from a trip to Disney World and my daughter has watched this video over and over! Of all the fun things for a 4 year old to do, she LOVED The Carousel of Progress.
I just realized we have ALL of the things that were in the "Future" part of this ride and more. It's not much different than when I saw this as a kid in the 90's That's......incredibly awesome but kind of scary. We're running out of things to look forward to.
Jerbens Jarman - Running out of things to look forward to.. similar to the Disney employees who were fired, and replaced with HB 1 visa workers... and then told "You will train your replacements.. if you want your severance pay.". And a "Great big beautiful tomorrow" to you too!
I remember this from an exhibit at the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. Then it moved to Disney World where I saw it in 1979. The last segment was added later.
Ben Goldstine no i heard a theory i believe in. Let me explain Before Act 1, John was born in 1890. This makes sense because assuming in act 2 that Patricia is 18 or 19, Act 2 John had to have given birth when he was 18 or 19, and 1890 was 36 or 37 years before Act 2. Jimmy in act 1 is secretly Act 2 jimmy. Then later, in Act 4, the grandpa is Act 1 John due to the root beer reference. The John is act 4 is Act 3 john. Act 3 john is jimmy in act 2. Sarah of acts 2 and 3 is jimmy marrying the unknown girl in Act 1. Sarah in act 4 is is the daughter of a kid of Act 1 John.
Very nicely shot. Dissolving from one area of the stage to another makes it easy to watch. Thanks for taking the time in doing this right. I saw this show when it was still at Disneyland back in the early 70's. The last act was different and was geared more toward 60's stuff.
Thank you SO much for uploading this, it was my favorite part of the summer when I would go to Magic Kingdom with my dad before school started... since his passing I keep wanting to find things that brings his memory back, and I'm definitely remembering him tonight!!! Thank you thank you thank you!
Wow!! Thank you so much for uploading this video! I just got back from Disney World this had to be one of my favorites. I gotta admit i went on this one 3 times. I just loved the ending. Also 4:15 haha It's incredible how realistic they look.
I was there 4 years ago I never thought I’d cross and find this again, I was young I never quite understood this scene back then but now and then Indeed so amazing..
This is an interesting attraction. From what I can tell, if you went on it as a kid you loved it then and love it now. If you never saw it until you were an adult, you'll think it's outdated and boring. It is in need of an update (at least the most recent set is) again but it's still a classic!
Thanks for filming this RU42, i may have only rode this once, in 2005, but it is still a great ride. My dad insisted that we see this ride, because my dad saw the original show at the world's fair. Also, "great big beautiful tommarow" is one of my favorite disney songs, next to "One Little Spark."
This is one of the most nostalgic rides at Disney World. I love it.. It comes straight out of the mind of Walt Disney, one of our greatest all-time innovators. I hope they keep this around forever
NapalmicAcid Yeah, and the stuff they already updated in the Christmas scene was when they changed James' striped shirt in the early 2000's. They also changed Patricia's hairstyle a teensy bit. Also John's shirt was changed later in the 2000's and other things were changed.
I saw this in the New York worlds fair in1964 as a small boy and in both disney parks years later. This brought me back to 1964 all over again. thank you so much for the post.
For some reason I find it interesting that the daughter's hair started out blonde when she was young, then it went brown when she grew up a bit, and then back to blonde! Don't ask me why I find that amusing. I'm just easily amused!
Just came back from Disney and saw the show twice! There is just a good feeling you get when you see it. Nice wholesome show. Thanks for putting it on.
ive never been to any of the disney parks , so these videos are great to see , im amazed at disneys use of the animatronic figures there so clever and amazingly lifelike,of course im sure the odd glitch will occur as i think all the soundtrack animates every blink of eye to dimming of a light , thank you for this
I was just there, and tried to film it not half as good as yours. Thanks So Much for doing a Great job. I love this ride and there is never a wait, saw it 3 times last week.
"...He himself was about as American as anyone could possibly be." I have been watching this show since I was a kid and I still have no idea what that's supposed to mean.
Awesome production! This must have taken some time to put together. My daughter loves this attraction as well, ever since she was 4 too. She is now 8 and still loves it. Thanks for making this available. I was able to download it through Realplayer.
wow! I haven't seen any part of this show since they closed it at Disneyland...it sure was great to hear the song again...I was a bit disappointed to see just how much they've changed the different parts of the shows though...But a HUGE thanks to you for bringing back a great memory! :->
I shouldn't have started watching this. The song from this ride gets stuck in my head for weeks every time. Then my hubby has something to torment me with when we go to WDW. Wonderful video - totally did it justice!
I saw this on my first visit to Disneyland in 1969. I hated when it closed at Disneyland. I went to WDW in 2004 and saw this THREE times! I still love it. What a treat! Now this is FUN!!
I love this when I went. I especially loved the burned turkey in the final act. LOL! Each time I watch that video, and it gets to that part, I say, "Regular, or extra-crispy?"
The Carousel of Progress, is a very strong symbol of disney. (Along with Mickey Mouse of Course) I deeply thank you for bringing this great ride to my homefront!
i have not seen that in 16 years. An unforgettable moment in my childhood. I'm also the only one in my family who appreciated The Epcot center section of Disney World. I was there at the NY World's Fair. I was very young, but you bet I remember this as much as It's A Small world! Amazing robotics! But obviously updated to present times.
This brought back memories, used to always go on it every time I went to Epcot. It glitched when It was in the future and kept playing the song over and over, never forget that song.
I love this ride! One of my favorites, the last time I went it got stuck on the 3rd act and we had to watch it 5 times before they finally said the ride was experiencing technical difficulties, so they made us leave. I'm glad I got to finally see the rest of it!
Every time I ride this I get the music stuck in my head for a week.
thats why they picked it.
Danny Dorito ikr😅
I went yesterday and I can’t take out the song 🙄
You mean...5 *_YEARS_*
Or more
Another example of a Disney attraction that never gets old.
I hope they never change it...
you dont want change?

ken, you a big fan of carousel?
Well they could ad future decades
Well, updates wouldn't be bad to the last scene
I remember seeing this when I went to Disney World when I was 7 and loved it.I re-watched this now at the ageof 16 and still remember the words! Ahhh good memories
How about now

I agree with you. This is NOT the one I saw in the 1960's and 1970's at Disneyland.
@@DougCeleste This is because General Electric is no longer a sponsor of the show, therefore the show remains sponsorless.
A few updates over time
@@DougCeleste Ditto. Close, but doesn't have the same shebang...
@@Undercoverelevator212-s2n Too bad it had to change since that original one was WONDERFUL!!!
This is the ride I like to see because I’ve been singing away to this song
been to disney world florida 4 times and every time i go i always go on this attraction and of cause it a great big beautiful tomorrow
Indeed
This is my favorite Disney ride of all the four parks I've been to!
I'm about to ride it as I'm typing this reply

Even more-so now
At least at that time COVID-19 wasn’t a thing
Thanks RU42, i love watching this video: it makes me feel nostalgic every time. You did a great job recording it, too, if i don't say so myself :)

Aww, no mention of 3D printers?
"Dad, soon we'll be able to print our own internal organs! Cool, huh?"
In the words of Rose from Titanic, "Ach, that's disgusting".
Walt’s vision for this attraction only covered the 1900’s. 3D printers are a 21st century invention.
Maybe in the next update
I was there 4 years ago I never thought I’d cross and find this again, I was young I never quite understood this scene back then but now and then Indeed so amazing..

NapalmicAcid Now if only they could update the animatronics' clothes in the last scene...
Kansas King #99 Yes the clothing plus the actual technology, which is never going to happen. The laptops and stove and such is just so outdated!
NapalmicAcid Yeah, and the stuff they already updated in the Christmas scene was when they changed James' striped shirt in the early 2000's. They also changed Patricia's hairstyle a teensy bit. Also John's shirt was changed later in the 2000's and other things were changed.
