Congratulations on your first place win at the VAGF Crème de la Crème show with this painting! It’s a good thing you persevered and finished it, and then entered the show. Most artists go through that self doubt in the middle of a painting. Well, I do, at least. This is an awesome painting! Congrats again! 🎉
Camilla, you don’t need to make your art something it’s not. Just do what you love-paint what makes you happy-and people will naturally be drawn to it. All your subscribers can attest to this. You are incredibly talented and hardworking, and I know that, no matter how skilled you become, you may still find yourself comparing your work to others. But I want you to remember that everything you create is full of soul and skill. You are one of my biggest inspirations, and I find that I often compare myself to you since we are similar in age. But comparison is also a way to push yourself future and make progress. I hope you continue to make your art for many years to come and I’ll be here to support you with my silly and sometimes serious comments! Keep of the good work❤️ Anyways cool Minecraft base.
i honestly relate to your videos so much. the feeling of being uneducated at that school and other schools should be talked about more. i think a lot of art students like to act superior and instructors might act like their curriculum is the be all end all, but at the end of the day, i think all artists have to adhere to their own principles or else making art will become too draining. your art is beautiful, not despite the way is deviates from the things you learned in school, but because it deviates. obviously it's important to understand different perspectives and history is interesting to learn, but at the end of the day, it's YOUR artwork. please keep making art camilla!
I think you painted yourself incredibly well. I know you mentioned you felt like you made yourself "prettier" but I think you have a better grasp on what you look like than most of the rest of us. You look beautiful and this painting is incredible!
I just wanna say I absolutely love that you only paint yourself. To me, if i was painting myself it would REALLY feel like I was painting another person, i find my appearance very unrelatable to myself and almost alien. but also, to everyone else that’s exactly what i look like. it presents you and everyone as an individual from both their own perspective and everyone’s perception of them as objectively beautiful and something that deserves to be emphasized in an art piece. love it :3
As a painting major going into senior year at scad, YOURE DOING AMAZING!! First year is always rough cuz in most projects you aren’t free to do what you want, but once you start your painting major you will feel way more in your element. Also the part about wanting to not put in as much details, keep feeling that girl cuz you won’t have any time to put them in! Not sure about risd but at my school we normally have 2-3 weeks per painting at least in earlier major classes and wow!! It’s intense but you will quickly adjust your practice and learn to make art you like with quick turn around. It’s stressful and takes a whole summer to heal but I feel so good every time I made something I’m proud of! You are doing so well and already have this interesting realized style. Don’t compare your art to your classmates too much because in painting majors, everyone has their own thing and there will always be a place for you!

Girl, I love your work. Voices in your head as an artist is one of the downsides of education, because something that you create with your heart gets dissected, analyzed, criticized, advised on, and never, never, never just complimented. Let me say this again: I'm really loving watching your art getting created. I think it's amazing how colourful, fantastical, and magical a simple photograph of daily life becomes under your brush.
You need to give yourself more credit❤ you are so young and already incredibly talented. Doesnt matter if you don't know all the technical aspects or history of your subject, you are still doing amazing. Also that guitar at the end?!? Truly multitalented
I did a maths degree and all I’ve done since then is draw more because I didn’t get much chance during uni 😂. I fell out of love with art as an academic subject in my last couple of years of school so didn’t go for it at uni and honestly it was the better choice for me but my brain was broken after all the maths. I know it’s all a big deal when you’re feeling it and you’ve gotta feel these struggles as a person and an artist and just growing up but try not to worry too much❤. Literally zero people think you suck. In fact over 500k are here to tell you you’re incredible. Art school is going to teach you perspectives, history, and push you hard. But none of it has to do with your art. Remember to keep being true to what you love and enjoy your art. ❤
girl honestly i have to tell u that I understand that u may think realism isn't as important/meaningful as other styles of art but ur art is so so beautiful and even if u don't consciously put a clear message into ur pieces the sheer atmosphere and tone are communicated so so well and u can feel the emotion radiating from ur work which is why it's so memorable to me even through the thousands of artists i've encountered and i absolutely love that a message isn't being shoved down ur throat and everyone can interpret it differently which is what truly great art is about so i think u should be so incredibly proud of urself bc i really think u are one of the greatest artists of our generation and i want u to see that
I totally get you when you talk about not having the same influential feelings and knowledge about art than others. I remember when i saw one of your paintings a while ago and you said the name of an artist that someone compared you to and that you loved, and i was like wow, i really am just being silly with my art, i don’t know shit about the masters😭

"is this any good" becomes "what's good in this and what else can i do with it". growth mindset! it's cringe but true.

have you ever looked into the aestheticism movement? :0 the first time i heard it was in an art history course in college (if you have the opportunity to take one soon def do!! im sure they're gonna be much better than the ones at my rinky dink texan college and they were some of the most fun and educational classes i've ever taken) it literally changed my life when it came to how i perceived my own work. coming from a texas art education as well, all i was taught was do it realistic and people will like it. nothing about history, composition, stylization- all of that stuff i had to learn myself :') and by GOD did i feel so unqualified when i went to art class surrounded by literal masters with knowledge that was basically ingrained into their work. aestheticism definitely has its faults but it helped me realize that the art i do is valuable simply because it was created :) i feel that way looking at your work!! art doesn't have to have a deep meaning, the meaning can come from it simply being created. remember that college is for education, not a gallery for completely perfect masterpieces. with that in mind, your work is absolutely STUNNING and i hope this upcoming semester for you is wonderful!! :D
I went to art school myself too, In the netherlands, and a big part for me was indeed not using shitttt hahaha, Once you'll be able to position yourself against or with something, you start gaining. So even if you are making an active choise not to use things they taught you. theres probably a reason behind that, maybe you'll figure out what that reason is, or maybe you dont. But going againt the grain should never make you doubt anything! Youre doing great
the way you view art and the struggles of art school i relate completely no one really talks about it and i love your confidence of pointing that out because with art insecurity it will always come back somehow for a little while but every once a while too you realise how your heart yearn for art and why you love it so much
i love watching ur videos bc it helps me remind myself that i am not alone in this art journey. sometimes art class can be a pain but sometimes it can be fun! thank u for always showing the pretty and ugly side of creating art

Don't even worry, girl, you're hellaciously super good. However, you having 'identity crises' during the process is normal. I feel the exact same way about the stuff I work on. Congratulations at finishing your first year at art school. I'm proud of you, babes.
You saying you compare yourself I can’t actually believe because you’re such an inspiring person and your paintings are unreal. You’re extremely talented! Also I was wondering if you could make a video of how you first started and why and maybe a few of your very first sketches or paintings…
i've also been having the same thoughts and problems with art recently, and i seriously appreciate you talking about it and your thoughts and insecurities with art; it's really comforting to hear all of your thoughts and your process
Camila, ur vids give me strength as an art student, I’m a senior in AP 2D this year and you’re such an inspiration! Also your skin looks so good in this vid, keep being so awesome pls🫶❤️
You’re such an amazing artist don’t let art school tell you any different or what to paint! Keep doing what you’re doing 🎉 love your realism- in the artwork and in the videos 🎉
the amount of different emotions you go thru in a single video stresses me out and makes me concerned for you but also, ur real asf 🙏🙏 the painting and your minecraft base looks BEAUTIFULLLLL i hope you enjoy your summerrrr and YOU PLAY THE GUITAR?!!??!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!
you have achieved with art more than anyone else your age, i'm sure if you wanted to start doing exhibitions or whatever you want to do in the future you would already be able to do it without a degree. like u were so happy to do the painting at the beginning of the video and then u started self-depreciating more. i totally understand imposter's syndrome, but it is also okay to prioritise your mental health and take a break off from things, even doing things you love
Omg I love watching your videos. I'm also an artist and I'm majoring in modern languages. And I have to say that the struggles you went throughout this video are so relatable and really hit close to home for me :') I'm about to start my studies again and I feel really overwhelmed about it, but seeing you be able to finish the painting despite all the things you went through makes me feel a little better and with more courage to face university again. Thank you Camila for all your hard work. I love your paintings and videos! Take care!
appreciate y’all’s comments and advice 💙💙 THANK Y’ALL

the way you view art and the struggles of art school i relate completely no one really talks about it and i love your confidence of pointing that out because with art insecurity it will always come back somehow for a little while but every once a while too you realise how your heart yearn for art and why you love it so much
3:30 please make a painting of you in your minecraft base👏‼️
i love watching ur videos bc it helps me remind myself that i am not alone in this art journey. sometimes art class can be a pain but sometimes it can be fun! thank u for always showing the pretty and ugly side of creating art
BRO I knowwww you hate compliments because you think it’s a lie, but I was so so soooo happy seeing your video and that you posted!! I love your artwork so so much 😭❤️❤️❤️ I hope you get this message 🫶🏼🫶🏼
NO BC I LOVE ART AND IM AN ART STUDENT BUT I LOVE CREATING WHAT I WANNA CREATE LIKE WHYS MY TEACHER TELLING ME EXACTLY WHAT TO DO. STRIPS THE FUN RIGHT OUT OF IT
i COMPLETELY understand the Minecraft obsession -- i'm currently back in the mines and i can't STOP. i'd love to see a full tour of your base sometime!! your library is SO pretty
Don't even worry, girl, you're hellaciously super good. However, you having 'identity crises' during the process is normal. I feel the exact same way about the stuff I work on. Congratulations at finishing your first year at art school. I'm proud of you, babes.
Why couldn't i just love mathematics.

That whole last segment was just for her to show off her guitar skills🙏😻
Thank u for the awkward silences sprinkled in ur vids so we can rly connect as the audience... yk?
You’re welcome
It amazes me how incredibly talented you are
not even kidding at 4:25 an add cut into the screams and said
"are you fearing friends? fearing their habits? do you feel crazy?"
😭😭😭😭😭
You saying you compare yourself I can’t actually believe because you’re such an inspiring person and your paintings are unreal. You’re extremely talented! Also I was wondering if you could make a video of how you first started and why and maybe a few of your very first sketches or paintings…
never wouldve expected a musical number, amazing💀😁😁
This painting feels like forcing yourself to go to sleep at 5-6am after being up all night
MINECRAFT BASE TOUR!! 🔥
i've also been having the same thoughts and problems with art recently, and i seriously appreciate you talking about it and your thoughts and insecurities with art; it's really comforting to hear all of your thoughts and your process
12:40 You’re so real 😭 I’ve been addicted with Roblox again and have an unfinished painting from early July 😭😭
YOUR MINECRAFT BASE IS SO COOL WHAT.. Painting is cool as well, I guess. (Just kidding your painting is absolutely incredible)
Keep doing what you’re doing 🎉 love your realism- in the artwork and in the videos 🎉
the amount of different emotions you go thru in a single video stresses me out and makes me concerned for you but also, ur real asf 🙏🙏 the painting and your minecraft base looks BEAUTIFULLLLL i hope you enjoy your summerrrr and YOU PLAY THE GUITAR?!!??!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!
its giving "como cuando me quedaba hasta tarde viendo tele en la oscuridad de mi pieza"
MINECRAFT ADDICTION IS SO REAL ONCE YOU START YOU CAN'T STOP 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I loved the guitar part it was so inspiring
Your art is incredibly great and I say that as a very critical person regarding the quality of paintings
FINALLY WE ARE BACKKKK🎉🎉🎉🎉🤪
LETS GOOOO
@@caamileon amazing on the guitar
Yoir voice is so nice❤️❤️❤️😭😭loved that guitar part!!!
AND SHES A MUSICIAN AS WELL!!!!!! This woman leaves the rest of us no talent.
you have achieved with art more than anyone else your age, i'm sure if you wanted to start doing exhibitions or whatever you want to do in the future you would already be able to do it without a degree. like u were so happy to do the painting at the beginning of the video and then u started self-depreciating more. i totally understand imposter's syndrome, but it is also okay to prioritise your mental health and take a break off from things, even doing things you love
Camila Minecraft letsplay when?? (ALSO GORGEOUS PROCESS, and you are so real for the breaks inbetween)
Off topic (the video was super entertaining and you did AMAIZNG) but.. MINECRAFT BASE TOUUURR?? I’d love to see more of your grind lol
I love your vids! It feels almost comforting that someone else is going through art school that’s my age too🫶🏻
I’m currently in an art slump/identity crisis too so I think I watched this video at the right time 😃
Me watching this video to get rid of my crippling anxiousness because my school starts tomorrow 🥰
me too babe. me too😞
literally yesterday i was sad because there were no new videos to watch and got so happy when i saw this
You put so much effort for a video. I appreciate it. ❤
U just inspired and motivated me to try realism after so long... TYSM ❤
FINALLY SHE'S BACK
Omg I love watching your videos. I'm also an artist and I'm majoring in modern languages. And I have to say that the struggles you went throughout this video are so relatable and really hit close to home for me :')
I'm about to start my studies again and I feel really overwhelmed about it, but seeing you be able to finish the painting despite all the things you went through makes me feel a little better and with more courage to face university again.
Thank you Camila for all your hard work. I love your paintings and videos! Take care!
I just realized how bad imposter syndrome is to artist. Because that looks amazing!
