    • @cheyennecolin5546
      @cheyennecolin5546 2 місяці тому +25

      It’s those wattpad/AOC fanfic sites that put those ideas into their heads as well as new age bodice ripper books. They mistake a man being jealous, possessive and controlling for “passion”, and in someway are hooked on it, even when it gets worse. She feels “”protected”” knowing that he’s emotionally volatile enough to physically assault somebody for them despite the physical assault inevitably turning on them at some point. They feel “”loved”” that he’s possessive and controlling, because they wouldn’t do that if they didn’t care about you. A relationship that had none of this and is actually healthy is considered “”boring”” to them, and that should tell you more than enough.
      Also keep in mind a lot of these girls have severe personal mental and emotional stuff going on to be desiring men like this and they gotta figure that out by that themselves before any of this ends. Seriously, you have to lack deep self-worth if you idolize a relationship like Nate/Maddy.

    • @chacha2321
      @chacha2321 2 місяці тому +25

      Right, he also pushed her while she was protecting her mom. She slightly needed to see who he was because he’s the type that would’ve destroyed slim’s character. Most narcissistic people go for your reputation, thank God I had receipts about my ex friend. I had her mug shot and past other information , plus other friends that cut her off. Im glad she was able to protect her daughter. However, she didn’t hide nor protect his character. I felt that she did the right thing too. He was harming her. We often see this with mothers taking the heat and being called bitter. However, some of the dads wasn’t the best and did unforgettable damage to them. Slim’s daughter could’ve grown up motherless the way she did. I’m glad the movie showed a victim trying everything and being financial oppressed. She was a very independent/ strong woman and he sadly but easily gained control. Overall, I’m glad she gained it back and took up self defense classes. This was calculated and very helpful. He didn’t expect that from her.

    Something tells me Mitch probably grew up with an abusive/crazy dad who probably either died or walked out and thinks its ok to hit women since his mother clearly doesn't have a backbone. Notice we only see his mom and shes practically blaming slim for mitch being abusive which sadly means she was abused and probably told that women are at fault if a man abuses them.
    The classic "what did you to make him angry?" quote is always a huge red flag. I almost feel bad for the mom bc shes definitely been beaten and brainwashed into thinking abuse is ok. But she pisses me off being loose lips McGee. Its giving the white version of ike turner and tinas mom

Even though she did progress and I do really like that one dancing scene she does and shall we dance, ballroom dancing is really the only type of style of dance that she shines in. Now Shakira does belly dancing, apart from other dancing styles. Now having learned how to do both ballroom dancing and belly dancing, have to say belly dancing is definitely the tougher one to master. You have no one to blame but yourself when messing up. Not to mention the difficult hip movements that may not be achievable for everyone. At least in ballroom dancing you can blame your partner for not leading you properly. It's level of difficulty rivals ballet, but I'd say ballet take the cake. That and it was Shakira's dances everyone was doing on tik Tok, not hers.

She clearly loved her son and was willing to enable his abuse by helping him track down Slim by “sharing” her location; she also believed her son had rights to Gracie and would’ve most likely been on his side in a custody battle (she probably would’ve taken responsibility of her own grandchild if he had won, but wanted to be an absentee father and fool around with other women).

But why did Mitch choose Slim? You got to assume he frequented that diner and got infatuated with her but you never see that. Maybe the movie would be more interesting if you saw more about Mitch. Stalked me, harassed me, threatened me. I had proof of EVERYTHING! The judge tried to make me feel bad like idk what I was tb, & then told me that bc he didn’t hit, SA or physically hurt me YET I couldn’t get one. On top of telling me the order wouldn’t protect my daughter. I was livid. Thank God he finally decided to be a deadbeat in peace move away & leave us alone.

    Thank you so much for highlighting Jennifer's acting. She can act and you can't take that away from her, the girl also has moves and slays dance performances. I don't know how people can be so hate driven on her that they even deny an obvious thing she can act and dance. When it comes to singing...late 90s and 00s were promoting models in the pop music, not neccessarily the greatest singers- if they could dance the better- I can think of many female singers who made it predominantly because of looks- Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Britney Spears, Cassie Ventura, Ciara, JLo...Lopez isn't the one having generic voice, out of all of'em I think Rihanna made the biggest vocal progress (listen to Stay & Love on the brain) but her voice was more than lackluster in the early years of her career, she was blessed with a great selection of hits throughout her career. Lopez wasn't also the only using background voices in the choruses of her songs, most of the singers I mentioned did that as well, and I really don't understand that whole selective hate train on Lopez. Jennifer in my honest opinion isn't in any way worse than the likes of Britney, Gomez, Rihanna or Madonna. She's a pro in the industry and you gotta give her that she was acknowledged and praised probably by your favorites in the past cause she really was that girl (acknowledged by anyone excluding a certain M.C.).

    I remember my mom went threw this with my first step dad this was the first time and last time it ever happened thankfully but at the same time me and my siblings witnessed this and had to run next door for safety and to call the cops. I remember the old ladies door we knocked on and how scared we were. Especially because it was night time and she didn’t see our mother, there was no reason for us to be outside especially after the street lights came on. Then a few years later this movie came out and I just remembered crying and getting overwhelmed with emotions and wanting to be Gracie and help my mom but being little and not able to do anything. This movie and my mom’s life have alone made me view DV and to even know what it was at such a young age and for anyone to experience such fear over your body. I hope anybody going through this now or ever gets out as soon as they can. I know it’s hard but not living your true healthy life is harder ❤❤

I was in an abusive relationship when I was 18 and I came home with a black eye by daddy and all 6 of my brothers kicked his ass. He tried to press charges but they didn’t stick because I had all the proof I needed in my iCloud 💯. He got like a year probation and I have a restraining order against him. He’s blocked on everything anyone who may know him gets blocked. I don’t post my location and when I do it’s just the state I’m in. I don’t trust people because of him. She should have allowed her friends to take her to the hospital the night he broke her ribs, gotten the restraining order, and went through family court with their child. Even though he threatened to plant drugs on her, she could have disproven drug use in court with a drug test, being that she wasnt using them. I do love this movie, but i also think she made a few mistakes, being that they had a child together.
