  • How to Mount a Splitboard.
In this episode of How To XV, I show you how to mount a splitboard and have it set up perfectly, so when you reach the destination you can quickly changeover your board and be ready to ride, rather than freezing your fingers off.
Setting up a splitboard is a process that requires attention and a few sessions of fine-tuning to reach perfect ride-ability and easy change overs, even in mega blizzard conditions
Now get out there and have fun... and take a tool in case you need to do some on mountain adjustments!

Me too with crampons. I used to think that if I needed crampons, I prefer to carry the board and put crampons on my feet. But I tried them and now I really like to use them, even with crunchy snow, not ice or really hard snow. You have got a lot of situations in the middle of the road between skinning and climbing carrying the board, and the crampons are great.

Hi Xavier I love your videos! Question, what bindings are those, I can see they're not SparkRD (I use Spark) and probably not Karakoram either. And if something else, how do they compare to those brands?

Hi, i noticed that you are using plum bindings, i have the same ones and ive been trying to find information about the heel raiser with crampons. For me the bindings doesnt seem to press the crampons to the snow, but instead they are left like just hanging there and im confused as if this is by design or not, i tried to contact plum as well but i didnt get an answer from there.

Good point… I’ll have to have a look at my system as can’t think how they are right now, - on the hinge at the front like you say- but never struck me to have a problem. Will check it out and see if I come up with any solutions. 👍

"i leave two or three mm for the Ice" you think about avoiding Expansion Cracks between topsheet and Binding ? I dont get it instantly

    • @XVDLR
      @XVDLR  2 роки тому +1

Hey, it is not for expansion cracks, it is for when the ice builds up when you are in the mountains, so if you make everything totally precise when you are setting up your bindings at home, you won't be able to close your bindings onto the system in the mountains... so this gives a bit of margin. Does that make sense?! Xv

I have a new splitboard and the edges are really tight together in riding mode. the problem is, it seems the flex of each splitboard half is slightly different, as a result the center edge is not smooth and flush together and you can feel it while riding. do you have any suggestion for this?

In the meantime I bought a letherman skeletool rx which can accept lots of different screw heads but, like you suggested, maybe the wire and the duct tape combined with a basic tool are the most important things. I also find doing a bolt check on all the splitboard fittings before going out is useful. Sometimes those little screws seem to loosen all by themselves!!

I have noticed that a bit less forward lean I would jump easier and ride better on powder and a more aggressive lean carve better... but I guess that would be a comprise to comfort and responsiveness there in the Big mountains and higher angle of the descent.... keep rocking also I'm a big SURF fan... loved your video getting barrel with Courtney you both are super cool!!!
