Great video, as always, Marc. The initial timeline to take all the F1 stuff was 6 to 8 weeks, ugh.
It is my town too and I still say, FUF1. That's how I feel. Even the snobby monkeys who are involved with this I say...well you know what I think. It's funny they waited to the last moment to finish this monstrosity and it seems to be the same removing it. I just wish the race officials and our own government would have brought this to the people of Las Vegas. Did we make BIG $ , NOT ENOUGH! Phoenix got out so should we. Great video Marc. I cannot imagine what it was like for the locals trying to navigate what seemed like a total mess. I also think it’s rather disappointing to see the aesthetics of one of the prettiest blvd’s in the world blocked by ugly construction. I get it’s a big race and it brings money to the city but at what cost?
I hope its better going forward and hope it goes quickly so the locals, even us tourists, can have our city of lights back.

Nice video. Kym Illman is a photographer at all the F1 races. Sometimes Kym makes comments that ruffles feathers. Kym has videos of his Vegas vacation. After the race he made a comment Vegas won him over.
He is just an ass hat. He should stick to photos because no one here appreciates his twisted, nonsensical banter.
Liked your video. I lived in Las Vegas from 94 to 96 and the changes are amazing. Light rail, many different hotels. Ever changing city.

Awesome of course . We are waiting to come back till the erector set gets taken down and we can actually see the strip like it was. We enjoy both Fremont and the strip. We drive in so I’ll be watching for the video that it’s all gone. 😊
Benefited construction workers, security workers, mostly the higher priced hotels. Most workers on the strip lost hours in extra commute time for over half a year. Many businesses had lower traffic during the construction, which can't be offset in 3 days. However, it gave unions extra leverage to negotiate better pay contracts.
Hey Marc, some one mention the road bridge on flamingo will stay. I love Las Vegas, I love Formula 1. But they did F1 wrong the first year and I hope they learned a lot and will correct it. Solve all problems, imitate chaos. As a tourist in the city, I hate how construction ruins traffic, strip views, etc. A few weeks before and after is understandable, but not months. They must optimize that process. Another thing I really don't like is the greed of the casino, I know they should be profiting from the event but everything was blown out of proportion, they have ruined the opportunities for the locals and those who can't pay thousands of dollars per night. That being said, I want to experience F1 in Las Vegas, Absolute, but not at any cost.... So let's hope for better planning, better experience for Las Vegas residents and tourists. After all, it is they who in the future the event depends on, see yuo in a couple of weeks brother

Hey Marc....fascinating video. I follow the other youtuber n he's is good though. Wish he had covered more about vegas not the fancy stuff but more about how this event affected many of the locals. Hopefully the organizers took notes on what needs to be fixed for the upcoming vegas races. JC
Hopefully they do a better job next year. I heard they are keeping the temporary bridge because it helps traffic flow. Great video Marc!

I heard that F1 has decided not to put grandstands in front of the fountains going forward, and that includes not knocking the trees down anymore as well, is that accurate?
Thanks for the update Marc. They ought to be ashamed for what they did to the Strip. Hope they get it right next time.
I just don't see how they are going to get all those structures down until February and if that's the case this means that only Feb 1-Sept 1 Las Vegas will be free of F1 construction each and every year. That's 5 months of inconvenience. Could they cut it down to 4 months and 2 weeks possibly. It's also a myth that Las Vegas is devoid of business in November and December. You have Thanksgiving which draws heavily along with the NFR plus ongoing Las Vegas Raiders and Vegas Knights sports teams. Certainly there will still be deconstruction during the extremely busy Christmas-New Years week.Then you have the enormous logistics of building the NFL Fan Experience for the Super Bowl. Massive sets for ESPN, CBS, NFL Network and Fox Sports. Las Vegas is on display with aerial shots of the Strip for television the week leading up to and the day of the Super Bowl which draws almost 115 million viewers in the US. There are also musical events, exclusive parties and fashion shows. The Super Bowl is a once in a decade visit for Las Vegas so the next time it returns after 2024 F1 will have completed it's 10 year contract with Las Vegas so the city will be geared just to prepare for the game. I think with the massive traffic headaches that this created tourism will be impacted each year through the fall.

I've heard up to 8 weeks to take it all down. Hopefully they figure out better ways to bring this up and down. I move in January and hope most of it is completed by then so I can show my kids around the area they will be living starting next year. Here's to hoping for better time next year. I was there fot the race. A hr after the race they were unbolting catch fence on barriers and moving them. This was on Harmon. A hard working large group of people .I was also there at 2am Wednesday morning watching the work to get ready. I work construction. I was impressed at all the work they were doing. Some working double shifts. This creater doesn't have a clue.
I heard from another Vegas person that they would be up permanently because of the contract Vegas has with F1

Marc , Awesome footage of the aftermath of F1 . I only caught a few minutes of the race on social media . Best part was the sphere . It reminds me of a lava lamp . Have a good one !
How is it exhibition race? There is 10 years.. BTW I was there.A hr after the race they were unbolting the barriers and moving them. The lighting is coming down. Why build a permanent structure for it ,roads are cleared first. Maybe you should apply for the job

Kym Illman is a good guy. I met and talked to him before the race. Where did he ditch on the city..?
City wants the bridges to stay up. Liberty Media helped the city out with moving cables underground and are holding out on paying .
The guy wants indycar.? He is clueless. Indycar isn't a global sport. I like indycar but it has nothing like the following F1 has.
Vegas needs to improve its transit system. People started using the Montrail more because of the race. City supervisors like the bridges that were put in. Learn from that, expand the Montrail add some bridges.
The agreement is, city agreed to 10 years. F1 to 3. But with Liberty Media/ F1 spending over 400million for property and paddock building plus 80million on paving streets. Finishing their first year investment at 600 million. They are staying 10 years plus.
The las Vegas Paddock is also F1's Americas main office.
So much stuff went up after your last visit. Now that stuff is gone and you act as it never was there. Did you even watch the race ?

They did it at night for the European viewers, it would be shown during the day, over there. My question to you is...what difference would it have made?
Wouldn't need all the lighting but then I realized they would have to practice in the daytime which would cause too much disruption.@@SparkyTuttle

Indy car would be better for vegas. Indy car events run way smoother than this whole F1 setup the long beach grand prix and the music city grand prix which are Indy car are setup and taken down a lot smoother than F1 the indy organizers arent divas like f1.

No one watches industries of the US. F1 has roughly 3 billion people who watch around the world. F1 is the pinnacle of racing.
It's nowhere near a disaster. It brought in roughly 1.8 billion to the economy and was one of the most watched races across the globe.
I was at the race all 3 days and attended the Red Bull VIP party. Also met Kym Illman- the guy at the beginning of your video. He also said the race was a massive success and he's the top UA-cam guy in the world for F1.
The race was a huge success. Your focus on removing lights and temporary traffic disruption is really irrelevant in the larger picture.
I've been to several Formula 1 races around the world and this was definitely one of the best.
F1 races that occur in cities like Singapore go through this every year and it doesn't take forever to remove lights or other infrastructure.
Marc/ hate to say this but you're obviously unfamiliar with F1 and what it means to a city to have a race on the calendar.
The Super Bowl won't even bring in a third of the revenue and it won't have anywhere near the broadcast audience of F1. Super Bowl is also not recurring revenue for the city.
By calling this a disaster, you disparage the hard work of thousands of people who made this a huge success.
Sorry, Matt. I appreciate your opinion but you obviously only watched the beginning and not the middle of the video when he blows off Ellis Island or is very disrespectful of Oct 1. I will wait on the money brought in verdict but I'd imagine resorts, politicians, and promoters are the ones reaping those benefits and not the small restaurants and business that were hurt by all of this. It's not always about money, it's about community.
None of that has anything to do with whether or not the event was a success.
Did you speak to Kym Illlman at all or just take snippets from his videos?
He didnt say anything disrespectful about Oct 1. A decision was made by FIA and Liberty Media around the naming of the paddock area. Kym simply explained what was behind the decision. There's absolutely nothing disrespectful about that and if you had followed any of this you would have known about the sensitivity around the naming of the paddock area.
I spoke with Kym at the event and if you look at his follow up videos in this race you'll see you've taken a lot out of context and disparaged Kym.
As for Ellis Island- he's entitled to an opinion as we all are. He's used to first class facilities at every race in the calendar. Ellis island is great. I love it but it's not the W at Abu Dhabi is it?
I think you're looking at this through a small lens, maybe a point of view of a non F1 fan.
Did you attend the race or any of the team parties?
If you had you would have seen how amazing everything was handled. Have you been to any other F1 races so that you could make an informed comparison between this event and others?
This was much smoother than any of the other races I've attended in other countries. It was super efficient.
Maybe to some other races and make an informed comparison rather than disparaging the incredible job done by thousands of people to make this event an indisputable success.
I never said it wasn't a success. I said it's a disaster and it is in my opinion. I watched all of his videos and seen the disrespect not only in his words but most importantly in his expressions and actions. I am not the only one that sees this. He bashed Vegas in many ways in multiple videos. If he can have an opinion so can I. I was born here and and if you watch my whole video instead of snippets you'll see that I don't have an issue with F1. I have an issue with the process. So many people watch these things and only see one thing and not the big picture. I welcome his opinions, it's his actions I have an issue with. With all this being said this is just a video. Hi Marc I watch all your videos and live streams since 2020 and I must say I am disappointed with your attitude and approach towards F1. Everyone has a right to disagree with any of the issues but as someone who has been known to be uncontroversial and placid your F1 videos are destroying this side of you. In my opinion it is better to write to the local promoters who are solely responsible for ALL the arrangements so it is wise to get these facts and report on them.
Kim Illman who you featured in your video was not bashing Vegas he was simply bringing more exposure to the lesser known areas of Vegas come on Marc be bigger than this, just write to your local council and get a factual report on the success of the race and its impact instead of just making a video based on I don't knows. Blame the slow approach to your OWN local workers because in ALL other country where this is done they do not have this problem. Finally the man who said he preferred they had brought INDY cars well he should know it is not as big a race as F1 and those cars would not survive a street track they are built for Oval tracks and F1 is about driving not going around in circles.
Love all your vlogs and the lives from Fremont. Was visiting Vegas in mid October and it took nearly half an hour to get to our hotel, Elara Hilton, just from the strip which is only half a block along Harmon. Don't look forward to it next year. Take care brother!
