BETTER Than YELLOWSTONE!

- What could be better than Yellowstone Park? Well we found a State Park that we think is way more enjoyable, Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota! With only half the visitors per year, no chance of grizzlies raiding your camp and horse friendly rules we certainly love Custer State Park.
As always thank you for watching!
God Bless!

The quality and editing of this video is AMAZING!
Thank you so much!! 😊
I thought that. Like a mini travel documentary. Loved it. 🐴😎🙋♀️❤️
I haven't rode a horse in over 60 years! Then I rode only on my late brother's farm. They were fun times. Custer State Park was my favorite place to camp for decades. Now I find my adventures exclusively on the internet. Your videos provide wonderful reminisce. Please continue sharing your adventures. BTW Kansas has wonderful hills & parks too. It's NOT flat.
Those are awesome memories! 😃 thank you for watching! We haven’t been to Kansas but some of the state looks so amazing with the cedars and hills! We always look at whitetail deer hunting properties and there are some beautiful places in Kansas it would be a state we would consider for sure ☺️
How magical to be out there with bison 🦬 and your little herd. Weather was wild but you all came through brilliantly. Well done keeping your nerves, bet you had a couple of beers that night. ❤❤
Thank you so much! It was a really neat experience! (Especially after the fact 😂) it was awesome to see the bison running into the storm! ☺️ thank you for watching and taking the time to leave us a comment!
Excellent video!! Thanks for sharing the beauty of the park. Keep them coming.
Thank you so much! We appreciate you watching ☺️
You two are living the dream!!

Videos just keep getting better and better. Thanks for the beautiful scenery and the trail ride. Feels like I’m riding along. And the music was cool.
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to leave such a kind comment ☺️ we are so glad you enjoyed it!
Hey if you didn't know BLM has a buffalo round up every year. My father has participated in it twice and the first time his friend used a mule. Photos and experience looked amazing. Also I really enjoy your content 🎉.
We thought about applying to that last year but since it’s in September we are usually gone on hunts. That would be SO fun to take the mules!!! Maybe one day we can 😃 that’s so awesome that your dad has participated!!
Another awesome video and we have three different bags of Cafe Mule headed to Kentucky!
Thank you so much! And very awesome! It’s great coffee and supports a really great longear loving family ☺️
Just beautiful country the all did great
It is! And thank you! We were proud of them for not getting boogered by the traffic and bison in the storm haha! We were sure proud of them ☺️
@@MTN_BUILT yes you should be great ride
Beautiful !! I live vicariously through you guys and maybe one day my mule and I will do this too
Awesome! Thank you so much for watching 😊 You will definitely do it one day 😊🙏🏼
My dad visited Custer State Park many years ago. I hope to get there one day. I really enjoy your videos!
You are living my dream. I have always wanted to explore the BACK COUNTRY WILDERNESS by horse/mule. Life got in the way and prevented it. 80 yrs old now.
Beautiful place. Great camera work. A little different have riding mules and a pack horse. Usually the other way around lol!
Haha yeah it is! 😂 thank you so much! 😊
One of your best videos. Great edit. Like the trail riding.
Thank you so much!! 😊
If you are ever heading east thru Cody, Wyoming. The😮 Museum of the American West is fantastic stop. It is 5 museums in 1 and will eat up am😮 entire day. Highly recommended. Keep working your plan.
We didn’t get a chance to stop by there last time we were through but it’s definitely on our list next time!! 😃 thank you so much!! 😊
Hey have you ever felt like you know people and have never met them? That’s how I feel about you guys, and it’s a weird feeling. And somehow I feel close to Alyssa, somehow but I can’t explain it. Just so ya know I am 52years old, just an old guy with grey hair. Hopefully I didn’t freak you guys out just wanted to share this with you guys. Never felt so connected to people I have never met. Thank you for this amazing video. And still my favorite chanel❤
Haha! Thank you so much for the kind words 😊 And I totally understand… we listen to several podcasts and we feel the same about the hosts, even though we’ve never met them lol
You guys are awesome...keep up the good work...I wish you had a 800 number to order merch on
Thank you!! We appreciate the thought regardless!! ☺️
Wow just beautiful ❤
❤️ we can’t wait to go again! ☺️
@@MTN_BUILT I bet it was stunning ride
Beautiful video.
Thank you so much ☺️
Your original video of this trip was very good and this one was even better. It was great to see all the critters, but my daughter and I agreed that the critter at 4:33 was the best one. She thinks that he is a handsome guy!
Hahaha! We just give Squirrel a treat and told him he has a NM fan club! 😊🙌🏼 we were talking about how different he looks now compared to in the video… his hair is much longer now!
@@MTN_BUILT If he gets a treat every time we compliment him, he'll be getting a ton of compliments! Make sure Yeti is spoiled as well.
Haha! Sounds like a plan! 😂🙌🏼 They both get plenty spoiled 😬
His actual name in Lakota translates to His Horse is Crazy beautiful place and I've been there but I wonder what it was like before we headed west thanks kray
That’s an interesting fact! 😃 I wonder what my name would have been 🤔 “her mule is crazy” 😜 I wonder that too… can you imagine riding into new country and coming over a ridge to find a valley FULL of bison… that must have been a sight.
@@MTN_BUILT I think it would have been Lightened Heart thanks kray
@@kraymississippi4388 ☺️❤️
@@MTN_BUILT you didn't say what kind of hotdogs those were and I'm glad to see you cooking and have you heard of campers stew and when was this
Good stuff ... very cinematic good job looks like a great place ..
Thank you Brett! That was a super fun trip! We already can’t wait to go back 😊
@@MTN_BUILT only one complaint .. whole time I thought about this ua-cam.com/video/V4fFvgwjtqo/v-deo.htmlsi=7T8rfN5osxFiDsw0
😂😂😂😂
Lonesome Dove one of the greatest movies of all time, tied with Jeremiah Johnson in my mind. They have round up every year in September… we’ve thought about applying but are usually busy bow hunting elk. One of these years that would be really neat to join in on the roundup! -Alyssa
What an absolute great video .. one of your best .. what was the music in the video, if you can remember .. as always, I enjoyed the watch .. and YES, I enjoyed the commentary..
Onward and Upward is Still the Watchword !!
Thank you so much!! I can get the song names and artists for you, I’ll have to look them back up I can’t remember off the top of my head lol! We have a subscription to a site called musicbed.com so we are able to license music from there so that its copywrite free on UA-cam ☺️👍🏼
I do a lot of tractor riding and keep my earbuds in .. I like the old cowboy music.. was just wondering if it may have been someone I could pull up on Spotify .. please don’t go to any trouble ..
God bless ..
Great video I'm not a horse person but in a previous video you said how sure footed a mule was compared to a horse and after watching this video you can see the dif between the two. Also who was the artists music you used great music
Haha yes big difference especially with our particular horse! 😂 she was only 2.5 years old in this video and she was sure clumsy on those slick creek rocks lol!
We use a subscription for our music so that we can post our videos without copyright issues, I’m not sure you can find most of the songs elsewhere but the one with words in this video is a song called “Troubles” by Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors. You might be able to find it ☺️👍🏼 thank you for watching!
Oh wow truely amazing ride. Tracey(Australia)
Thank you! We already can’t wait to go back! 😊🙌🏼
Loved the video!!
Thank you so much! We appreciate you taking the time to watch AND comment! ☺️
Wonderful ❤
Thank you so much 😊
Watching now what kind of hot dogs and when was this thanks kray
I don’t remember, knowing us probably just a cheapo kind 😂😂 this was last May! We wanted to re-edit the footage and put together another video since we have gotten better at editing and people are probably visiting the park around this time of year so maybe it will be fun for people to watch if they are planning to go there! ☺️
Palisades horse camp by pagosa springs Colorado is a good place to go
Oh neat! We will check that out! Pagosa is sooo beautiful ☺️
@MTN_BUILT yes it is. Yall should check out the horse camp. They have some awesome trails. No electric or phone service but they do have water hydrants and outhouses lol
@@brettdouglas4703 what more could you need!! 🙂👍🏼
I've packed into the eastern Sierras north of Bishop, Calif with horses and mules for week long trips. I'd like to try the Bob Marshall Wilderness in Montana.
Packing in or just riding those areas is amazing; the sights, sounds and smells ! Thanks for sharing your rides, it's almost as good as being along.🇺🇸🐎☝
That’s awesome! We hope to explore that country some day (both the Bob and the eastern sierras) 😊
Thank you so much for watching and taking time to leave such a nice comment. We really appreciate it! 😊
. The one thing about the Sierras, the elevations going over the passes, you're up over 11,000 ft.. We always used the Rock Creek Pack Station stock because they were acclimated to the high altitude . It is truly inspiring to be "on top of the world " on horses and mules !
Would love to do some of this sometime.
Haven't changed my mind after last night's debate its still Clyde for president
Hahaha! 😂👍🏼
Clyde would be my pick also. :). A true gentleman.
I’d love to share the trail with y’all sometime.
We would love that! 😊🙌🏼
@@MTN_BUILT say when. That west country has a special place in my heart
Great rife ,
❤️❤️
🇧🇷✌🏻
Other than the weather have you ever found yourselves in a precarious or dangerous situation in them thar hills thanks kray
Not anything crazy that I can think of… that particular storm was a little worrisome because lightning was striking the ridge line across from us which is when we bailed down into the draws. We also had that herd of cow and calf bison come stampeding up to us trying to get out of the storm. We didn’t catch it on video but we thought they might run right through the mules lol we did our best to stay out of their way and give them space haha. We’ve gotten into some deep snow before on the mules and that wasn’t fun. We got them turned around and out of it but we felt bad for that… we couldn’t tell how deep the drift was and it was WAY deeper than we thought. Thankful all was okay.
