My very first cruise we got to the entry to the ship absolutely beautiful! The big round bar right in the middle of the lobby guy passed out on the bar and medical had to come and remove him
I enjoy a couple drinks, but I pace myself and drink lots of water during the entire cruise. I also like the coffee drinks We fly out 2 days early from West coast. We fly through Denver in Winter So we plan ahead for bad weather!!
This is the perfect list of what not to do the first day. It seems to be the same every time, regardless of the cruise line. I will say though, get a snapshot of the current prices of things you are interested in. When the "up to 35% off" sales become available, they won't tell you which ones are on sale, or what the regular price is. I performed a snapshot of the things I wanted, and they were exactly the same price during the "amazing" sale.
My daughter's flight was canceled and she missed her ship. She was able to meet them in the Keys. She did enjoy her time there while waiting for them to arrive.
I will never understand flying in the day of your cruise and taking the chance of missing your ship. Even for our first cruise, we knew enough to fly in the day before.
We've done it, we were OK ... except my wife was *worried to death* which of course meant she had to *worry **_me_** to death!* But we've learned. Next time, we fly in the day before and stay in a nearby hotel, preferably one with a shuttle to the port.
Most of this stuff is common sense. I would add stay away from the buffet all together unless its just a small snack. Cruise buffets aren't great quality and there are other much better options. Most ships have a burger bar, a pizza/italian place, a Mexican place, and a couple others. Hit up these places during the day. I'm not about to tell someone how much to drink, but if you end up puking how is that fun??
On our last cruise, we checked in at 1:30 and our cabin was ready. We dumped off our luggage, hit the hot dog stand, and ate while making reservations.
I avoid the promenade deck. After I get on the ship. I go to my mustard drill and if I am on the Oasis class ship I head up to Central Park and wait for my room to become available. Embarkation day is very overwhelming for me.
How long does it take before they allow people into their room? I’m a stickler for getting in my room to unpack all my stuff. I don’t feel at home until I have everything cleaned and organized the way I want it. I also only travel with carry-on no checked baggage.
@@ravenzyblack Rooms are generally ready by 1:00 pm. However, your luggage is not delivered until later in the day. Sometimes after dinner. If you travel with just a carry-on, you can bring that on the ship with you.
First thing about the drink package do not start drinking until that ship is international waters cuz you drink anything while the ship is there they will charge you the tax on the drink so wait till you get the international waters
On my last Cruise I seen about five people that hit the bottle too hard. One was cleaning on the railing for dear life thinking the ship was sinking at the poor crew members were just trying to get her back to her room her husband was of no help.
Jayson I realy like your videos, they're so informative. Me and my husband Riley are going on our first cruise RC to Bahamas on 12/2/24. I know you've been there but I want to ask you What do you think about December's weather for Bahamas? We live in Tampa and love our nice weather year round, is it something similar in Bahamas?
We were lucky, our travel agent had just been on the same cruise liner we wanted to be on. She was able to advise the beverage and Internet packages to suit and how the rooms were. We actually have the same cabin on the port side. She was starboard.
We always look for a Different place to eat other than the Buffet ..We LEARN !! And You can tell the New to Cruising buy the way They HIT the Booz Package & Hit it Hard ..Hung over and a Rockin Ship ''' AINT PRETTY '''..We always get in a Day or Two Before the Cruise .. And Cruise ON !!!
We are going to Alaska in 2 weeks, and this is my first cruise . These videos come really handy. My question is, is anyone here has been to Alaska in june? I'm trying to figure out how many warm clothes I need to pack? I want to make sure that I bring enough weather appropriate clothing. TYIA!
I know this is too late for you, but maybe somebody else will benefit. We went to Alaska in May, and it was nice. Bring a coat, but unless you stand on the deck while heading for a glacier, you likely won't need it. Instead, wear a light-weight rain jacket, because it might rain, or you might get some water spray from the ice. If that's not warm enough, layer a sweater underneath it. Even my wife from super-hot Panama thought it wasn't too cold, and she's _always_ too cold! And don't let being Alaska fool you ... bring sunscreen and sun-glasses!
How much do you drink BEFORE you leave to pass out? Kinda like that guy that died during the holidays (2024) after he freaked out? BTW - anything on that?
I have heard stories about drunks on ships ... the wildest one was a guy who wandered into a crew-only area where obviously he didn't belong ... and pulled the lever that released the anchor! Now, imagine the ship is hurrying along at 10 or 20 knots, and all of the sudden the anchor hits bottom ... *ouch!* I believe that fellow got permanently banned, but I don't remember the details. If I were the captain, I'd have locked him the brig (yes, cruise ships *do* have a jail cell on board) and let him rot in there until reaching the next port.
Hi Jayson, I liked your video! I enjoy your pace and footage. Did the woman get removed for getting drunk or was she badly injured? Is the main dining room open on embarkation day for lunch?
His tips were for those with drink packages who want to drink maximum allowed the first day and don't know how they react to sailing while drinking. Also, if in port there are taxes that can be added while drinking then.

Good to know. Thanks.
Knowing cruise liners mentality, up to 35% is just a few selected items at 35% off after the price was previously increased 35%.

Avoid overeating on your first day. I do it every time and pay the price of over stuffing myself🥴

Drunks are just as bad as unattended/misbehaved children.
I bring my kids (since they were less than one) and I tell them, don't annoy me or anyone else!😅😅 I have trained mine and a lot of them haven't been.
No one likes a drunk... except other drunks.
Or worse. That said, I can't say I've seen really drunk people on any of our cruise. Maybe a few happy people, but not really drunk ones.
Drunks are *worse* than children, because they still expect to be treated with the same respect as sober adults!

Just subscribed 😊
What. Is it called for your watch accessory from amazon for your medallion
True my first or second cruise I got sun blisters let’s say showering was not fun
Good advice....and we've seen all of these rules broken by folks. We always compete to identify the drunkest passenger and the worst sunburn.

What percentage of customers miss the ship?
#3 should be #1.
The first thing I avoid is other people videotaping everything.
You avoid OTHER people video taping everything? What does that even mean?
@@HawddawgI thought it was easy to understand. If you see someone videotaping everything, you stay away from them.

Getting drunk and sea sickness. The two going hand in hand. 😂
