When you sail from the big island of Hawaii to Maui, they say that the ocean between the two islands is the roughest on the planet. My wife and I have and it was one of the worst nights of my cruising experience ever.

If safety is at risk I am all for missing a port. I would rather make it home alive than risk my life for a beach day. I was lucky enough to be able to go there over the weekend but I want the captain to make the right decision if safety is at risk.

I will occasionally clip a towel, or I once clipped a maxi dress that got soaked in rain at a port to a chair on the balcony with a binder clip. Smaller items like bathing suits I hang in the bathroom to air dry- in my experience the bathroom hung items take forever to dry.

Sunscreen is a tricky one if you’re trying to avoid checking luggage on the flight, maybe due to cost, not trusting the airline, not wanting to wait around at baggage claim, etc. You either pay more to check a bag and bring your bottles, or you pay higher prices for sunscreen on or near the ship.

This is the insurance branch of the company pulling a technicality, which honestly is their job. If Carnival is smart, they'll change their tune and issue a full 100% refund, if only for the PR. Really, for the PR benefit, it's worth a 100% refund and a free future cruise. You can't buy that kind of advertising.

Due to the $$ I prefer princess but Royals ships are much nicer. I’ve only sailed in Australia due to costs and Royal is ridiculously expensive.

What if you have a car wreck and get killed on the way to or from work while your child is in daycare?? I'm sure cruise lines have a contingency plan for about any possibility. We live in a word of very paranoid people that think some major emergency is hiding under every rock. That's why they think 6 years old's need to have a phone attached to their hands 24/7.
