The movie was a lot better than I expected going in, and I love that the crew behind it really let this one cook to make it work as a worthy continuation of the first Inside Out. It’s definitely not perfect, but the effort is commendable. I think they handled Anxiety pretty well, and I’m especially happy they didn’t backpedal on Joy’s development.
Hey man, I saw the movie too and I also think that it was better than the original, I related to the story so much and it is the first film that I've ever cried to, it was that beautiful, a movie that can stand toe to toe with the classic films. I feel that this film's importance to the cultural zeitgeist is more important now than ever opening new pathways into youth mental health just as the first film did. Also, I guess that this movie and Turning Red kinda make up the puberty duo, one talking about physical change and the other about mental change
Not really relevant, but I personally think Monsters University is one of, if not the best, Pixar sequels. If we’re debating whether it brings 100% fresh ideas or pushes animation, then I’d just say it’s an ok film. But the real boundary pushing element in that movie are the characters, Mike specifically. In the monster universe, Mike’s inability to be scary, no matter how hard he studies the concept, is treated and seen as a disability. Disabled representation is cool in it of itself, but what really makes Mike’s arc special is that he doesn’t suddenly “fix” his disability, or learns his disability had been a hidden strength all along. It’s a very real and honest message, that disabled folks may never have what it takes to get their exact dream job or goal in life, but that it’s always possible to use what you’re good at already to aid in such fields and get pretty close. Side note, MU is also kinda different from the other sequels because it takes place prior to the events that happen in the first movie. I think it’s a cool experience rewatching the original film after to see if any key story beats have been re-contextualized in any meaningful way.
Do you think Monsters at Work is a good sequel series for Monsters Inc? The first season showed Mike and Sulley's transition of Monsters Inc from scream energy to laugh energy while Tylor Tuskmon tries to see where he fits among the new jokesters and M.I.F.T. - the Monsters Incorporated Facilities Team, and it leads up to the ending scene of the original Monsters Inc film before Mike repairs Boo's door so Sulley can visit her again. The second season puts a heavier focus on the characters from the prequel Monsters U, where we see what Johnny Worthington, Claire Wheeler and Chet are doing at Fear Tech, and Johnny offers Tylor a new job working for him, because Tylor is a better scarer than a jokester and Fear Tech still uses scream energy, but Tylor does not want to betray his work family/work friends from Monsters Incorporated.
Well, i have to say, i wasn't really excited to see Inside Out 2, my mind was like "Oh great, another useless sequel to the pixar catalog, yippee -_-". But by watching this video, i changed my mind, great job at giving a review without spoilers!
Really good video! I feel like dreamworks has been making better films lately compared to Pixar and that Pixar peaked with Soul (my favourite Pixar Film). But now due to this video I can’t wait to watch Inside Out 2! May the algorithm bless you!
hey man! thanks for the kind words, it means a lot to me;) Let me know what your thoughts about Inside out 2 is, when you have seen it And as i mentioned in my video i also have a sweet spot for Soul :)
No way last wish is literally the only good thing they’ve made this decade everything else is soulless garbage, at least movies like elemental have passion and something to say unlike say kfp4 which is a soulless sequel only made for money.
for me, it's okey to have sequel if it's logical to have especially for this film which it involves life development. it would be nice to have more sequel as it explores human emotions and human experiences. it would be useful for psychologist and youth, it is informative. i wish they would continue it but it most be well-thought and well-craft like this one.
To be honest I did not even like Soul at all. Luca was okay. My expectations for Inside Out 2 were low, but the general reception for this movie was surprising. Maybe I will check it out.
I met John Lasseter (I think) in 1985 at a SIGGRAF conference. Boy, I wish that I'd asked him for a job! At the conference, they showed "The Adventures of Andre and Wally Bee" (The first computerr-generated movie that showed animated characters. I asked him when they we going to relese a feature film and he said it would be impossible. Rendering TAoAaWB took 10 months of Cray XMP time! Now, of course, we can render things like that in real time at 60 FPS.
I saw the movie yestoday. The movie made me feel many emotions, I cried in some of the parts of the movie because i went through some of the things Riley went through. Inside out 2 is now my favourate movie.
I am happy to say that this movie actually did save Pixar. Inside Out 2 was really good! I thought it was going to be mid as someone who really loved the first movie. But it was so better than I expected! And I think speak for everyone when I say… Embarrassment is the MVP of this movie
I truly thought Inside Out 2 was just gonna be a lazy retread of the original movie, but I was so shocked to be proven wrong, and I, too, might prefer it over the first one. This is easily the best non-Toy Story sequel Pixar has ever made, and I definitely think this movie will easily get a nomination for the Best Animated Feature at the Oscars, next year. I think The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, which releases later this year, will end up taking the statuette, but I still think Inside Out 2 has a pretty solid shot at winning! Perhaps we’ll even see it get a Best Original Screenplay nomination, like the first movie did! 🔥
I know a family with a few pre-teen to teen girls who are going to see the movie in theaters and I know they’re either going to love it or hate it. I’m watching it today, thanks for setting the expectations!
If it was me from 2022, I would’ve said that Pixar needs to make good movies… but after seeing their recent films, I don’t think Pixar has to make good films again. Like with DreamWorks, there’s always gonna be a bad movie, or a mid movie, or a good movie coming soon, even if it’s an original film or a sequel. I think Pixar Enthusiasts should learn that the same way DreamWorks Enthusiasts realized that. As for Pixar… the studio’s changed, and I have to adjust that. Forgive me if it sounds negative to you.
thank you! Yeah, so i saw the movie last week, but they make you sign a contract, that basically says you can’t say anything about it until it premiere
Honestly, it’s because Pixar never takes on any like REALLY big movies. If I remember correctly, there was a planned monsters inc sequel where they got trapped in the human realm, which actually sounds awesome, but it was scrapped. This info is all based on my memory, it could be a fake memory.
Remember that this is just my opinion, and that it doesn’t mean it the right one:) - but for me pixar has been lacking in quality over the past few years
Inside Out 2 didn't quite live up to the first one. It felt rushed, with a quick narrative that didn't give enough time for new characters or the central conflict to develop. The new characters lacked depth, making it hard to connect with them, and the central problem wasn't very compelling or well-motivated. Unlike the first film's adventurous spirit, this one felt more confined and less exciting. Overall, it also lacked the emotional impact of the original, leaving it less heart-touching.
well, it's your opinion, most of the people in our cinema love it and even applause at the end. many were crying and touch especially those one line that hits everybody. for us, it is a masterpiece.

Honestly, I kinda slightly prefer Inside Out 2 over Inside Out imo. Yeah, it just has bigger stakes in addition of making it feel more emotional as well as having a slightly better storyline, my only one complaint are the new characters not having as much depth but I feel like it's overshadowed by just how bigger the stakes are and how I actually kinda like the storyline here more in comparison to the previous film.
One thing i wish, is that they make more of the movie riley, i couldnt relate as much bc there was maybe 20 minutes of screentime in the first of riley
Well, what do you know, considering Inside Out 2 won't be coming out until tomorrow, it already has a good review, in other words, became a Pixar success after Elemental, and yes, Elemental is a beautiful film for some people's information. Hopefully, this sequel will win an Oscar next year, and what do they mean succeed after Soul, because I know Luca and Turning Red are both good, in their own ways of the 2020s, and sure Lightyear could've done better with some rewrites, or in this case like the failure with Cars 2, not be made/exist at all, like how Monster's University seemed to be unnecessary, or should've happened first. Finding Dory and Incredibles 2 were also good, how come it's on the worst sequels category, or why were The Good Dinosaur and Onward bad, well Onward could've done better if COVID-19 never happened, and the death of Arlo's dad does seem a bit dark for younger viewers.
