Love Aaliyah!!! My Era! I was about her age when this song came out-older than her by about 5months. We're 45 right now (just crazzzyyyy!) I'll always share August 25th with this legend - my birthday, the day she left us! ❤️😪 RIP Aaliyah! 💔 #herein2024

Aaliyah had nooo business being this fly as a teenager. She really was one in a million, actually one of one, way ahead of her time. I'm 40 now, and looking back at this video ... The quality, coolness, everything, is untouchable. She was too fly for us. Still my favourite, decades later.

MJ, Whitney, and many others didn’t produce or write all their own songs either. Prince did though. Still, Aaliyah brought life to the music and she was the inspiration for it. And she was hands on in her career, so she was working with her team. And she did say in an interview that she wanted to start writing songs. Aaliyah wasn’t just a pretty girl that let others do all the work, she was an artist who knew her stuff. Very smart.

AALIYAH was So 90s. There are many artists you can't mention from the 1990s without mentioning AALIYAH. She was smart, naturally beautiful, with a great sense of humor. She was very articulate and down to earth. She passed on my birthday; it was the worst birthday I ever had. Aug 25th, 2001, I will never forget it. Every year since then I celebrate her legacy through her music on my birthday. It's been 24 years now, and it seems like yesterday that she was blessing us with her presence on MTV or on BET. She is definitely 1 in a Million! She had so much swag before swag was a thing. If AALIYAH was still with us Beyonce wouldn't be the only one on top. I don't think you gotta tell generation Z that. Tell that to the new generation. They are lost into this mumbling "rap". These people are frying R&B. They trash. Just straight up trash.

She's a huge influence on my fashion sense today. I was born in '96, so I didn't really *grow up* in the 90's, but Aaliyah always feels like my home era.

Her harmonies with the beat is amazing. People sleep on her vocals just cause she has a sweet voice.

Yes, she does have some vocals on her. She made some nice note choices and placements with her ad libs. Generally speaking her voice is laid-back, but I have heard her sing a ballad or 2 before, and I'll just put it this way, she has more of a voice than people generally give her credit for.
