I have been trying for a while to figure this out, Is there a way to disable scrolling pages in an interactive pdf, constricting it to work only single page transition using buttons and forms.
The pdf is supposed to be an E magazine consisting of product categories
Thanks, Angelo, for yet another well delivered interactive tutorial, also on the way you proceed on the assumption that not all viewers are seasoned InDesign users. Been using it for years but still pick up really useful shortcuts and tips, like the Gradient Feather (which I'd probably have done in Photoshop 🤭). One small detail, but should your CC Library 'Interactive Magazine' appear with your template as I can't see where to download it?
No worries. Just realised that you user the Links folder but, obviously, the viewer could recreate the Interactive Magazine as a New Library in CC Library themselves.

Beautiful tutorial as always!, if it weren't for your tutorials, it wouldn't have been easy to learn interactive publishing design...also a quick question, are you using recent indesign version and updated in5 scrolling frame extension? If yes then how did you install it? I recently Installed in5 but I'm not able to install scrolling frames extension even after downloading from the in5 link. Can you help me in this regard? Will mean a tons.
Hi Karan! Thanks for the kind words. In terms of the scrolling frames, when you install the in5 extension, access the scrolling frames dropdown and you will get a popup that will require you to install the scrolling frames window separately for signing up for the in5 newsletter with your email address. Once you sign up you will receive an email with the scrolling frame download link. Is this what you did?
@@AngeloMontilla Yes, that's what I did and tried installing it several times but the extension won't show up in indesign. Don't know what's wrong. Is there something I'm missing. By the way I'm using windows.
@@karanshirsat1499 Ah, I was going to share the installer I have for Mac but that won't help you. Make sure you're downloading the right In5 version to match the InDesign version you're running. Here's the link: ajarproductions.com/pages/products/in5/download.php

Congratulations on the channel and thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have difficulties with English, I hope that Google translate will help me. I want to do a single answer test, the student must press one of the 4 answer options, (4 buttons). I also have a fifth "Submit" button, to verify the answer. Now my question: Can I control the button clicked by the student in InDesign so that it shows a smiley face if it is correct and a smiley face if it is incorrect? If the answer is positive, what is the trick?

I am on a Mac so it's hard for me to tell you which one is the best. I have used Digital Editions in the past and have had no issues, but I know others who have had problems. Let me know which one works best for you. Take care.

Hi Anthony. If you go to File > Export and choose EPub (Fixed Layout), that will export it as an EPub and open in Apple Books on Mac. Anyone on Windows or Android devices, the best readers I have found is Caliber.

Thanks Amit! The Animation + Object States, Universal Scrolling Frames will not. However, you can use Show/Hide Buttons and Forms to create some neat menu buttons for PDF Interactive, for sure.

hello ! Nice tutorial thank you very much - I have a question however : I don't really understand the layer option on your PSD pictures. When I try from my side and clic my PSD image as you do, it does not offer me background ? Any step to do before ? Thank you for yiour time
Hi Adrien, just want to confirm you are placing a.PSD file? If so, you should have the option to access the Object Layer Options. In the example for this tutorial, "Layer 0" is the background. I turned it off on the duplicated image on top. But this won't work if you're adding a JPG or PNG. It has to be a PSD.

Is it possible to export the “pdf” file and it works fully on mobile and Windows, and what is the appropriate program to run the pdf file?
Hi Mohammed! The Show/Hide Buttons and Forms technique I use in this tutorial will work for PDF however the Object States and Animation will not, so just keep that in mind. If you are doing a digital publishing project strictly for PDF, just avoid those things and ensure that users are viewing the content in Adobe Acrobat for the best viewing experience. Hope that helps.

Hey there! For iPad, it'll automatically open in Apple Books.

Hey Jacques. If you are trying to export for PDF, a lot of the topics covered in this lesson will not work for that platform.

The interactive part does not work, even though I do select the interactive check box when exporting. Will keep playing around. Thx
hey Angelo, I am trying to use In5 scrolling frame but it doesn't work. The pop up is telling it needs a seperate install. But the button to install doesn't work. Do you have any idea why :)
Hi Simone. It looks like in5 has not updated the scrolling frame extension for the latest version of InDesign. I would say, for now, go back to an earlier version so you can apply the scrolling frame. It should work fine then.
Can you open the emagazine in Android or windows?
Hey Alvin! Yes, you will have to download an e-reader app for Windows and Android.

For Android apps that will support .epub, consider: Google Play Books, Adobe Digital Editions, ReadEra. There are MANY others so just see which one works best for you.

No, many of the techniques in this tutorial won't work in Interactive PDF.
Hello. I created epub file, and all works when I tested on my laptop. But all layout messed in Android. (Tried 3 epub reader apps) How to fix that? And what is the best epub reader for Android please.
Yopi I am not on Android, so I can't tell you which one works best. From my research, Calibre, Readium and Freda can support HTML formats. Try those out. All the best.

Tried so many Android apps for epub reader. Mostly didn't work. Layouts are everywhere and link or animation didn't work. Some are work: Book Fusion, aldiko is fine but "burger" Button cannot be touch, always back to previous page. Ah so frustrating

Angela, is it a PSD you placed? It won't appear if it's PNG or JPG. The layers have to be maintained from Ps.
don't you think that this resolution is quite small for a digital document?
Hey there. The image resolution can be adjusted when you Publish Online in the Advanced tab. Text is exported as vector so that will always be high quality too. This particular project is A4 web, perfect for iPad/Tablet screens.
