Democracy = freedom of individual expression. Removing or banning is like you don't have any rights. Social media platforms are every where and you have the option not to download that app. When does this strong hand action ends. So very dishearting.
ByteDance is a Chinese company. In China every company has to give the government company secrets or data. It doesn't matter if it's stored in the USA. The CCP could theoretically just ask ByteDance for USA user data and they would have to comply. It's a national security risk.

The BlackoutChallenge supposedly started back in 2008, but Tiktok has lightened it up again as a new Trend on its platform.
The fact 2 children 8 and 9 supposedly died from doing the challenge online, though parents have more responsibility for their children's devices. I do think Tiktok has become a playground for sexual predators and these trends, e.g eating washing pods, brings into question whether the app should either be more restrictive with some form of ID when signing up... Filtered better or banned completely from all app stores.
When people debate banning an app in the US, you clearly know that the first amendment is lost or forgotten. The most important question is, is it irreversible?
