Jeff, thanks for making the video! Having you and the other guys out there with me during the day probably made the difference. It was a long, tiring, and kinda boring day already, if it had been lonely too I might have packed it in. So, thanks for joining and motivating me! Seeing the riding from early on in the day, I realized that I didn't remember a lot of it! Pretty dazed from such a long day on the bike, I guess.
Nice work Andy. Good to see you still going strong. If I make it up there, you'll have to give me a tour of the highlights. (pretty much only mountain biking these days)
i was out in Galbraith for the first time on sunday. as i was using trailforks to put my ride together... i saw “All braith” and thought “yuck, who would do such a thing??!”! lol, now i know. that guy is legend!
Big ups Andy! My big project for a couple years was to just do 100 MTB rides in a year. Living in upstate NY means we can ride from ~late March to ~early December, about 120-150 rideable days if we're lucky. In 2019 I really got after it, felt like I was riding all the time and finished ride 100 on Christmas day :-)
Some of my friends like to do birthday MTB rides with distance based on the age. Last one we did was a friends 57th, and it took 7.5 hours in the saddle. We had a sag wagon thankfully. I love having annual birthday goals like that with a bunch of friends. Then we have monthly challenges. August is most miles ridden, and that is probably going to be won by a roadie. September will be ft climbed or something like that. previous winner picks the next months goals... Just enough to keep us all young feeling and on our toes.
We try to get out bike packing at least once a summer... so similar elevation while pushing a few more miles but spaced out over 3 days. I do love seeing just how far afield a bike can take you.
Yep, I hear ya. I've got a buddy I used to ride with who used to be pretty on par with me, skills and riding wise. He just moved in a few doors down, so we've been trying to get together to ride again. In the last year, he's really gotten into single speed and massive rides, so I've been getting a lot of texts "Hey tommorrow, 6am, 45 miles, you in?" That's a mayyybe a once a year thing for me. I prefer a couple of fun hours at a time, haha! (Side note: The one time we managed to ride, he was out of sight in 30 sec on flat trails, so there's definitely an upside to all that riding)
Damn...that is a lot of miles and elevation on a mountain bike. I am beat at about 20 miles (or less if going hard). I am not even sure I would attempt that many miles on a road bike, where it is vastly easier and faster to munch terrain. Congrats Andy on such an attempt!
Wow....makes my route I've been thinking about seem s--m + all! Up the rubber chicken to finish off the night climb seems...... well, tiresome! LOL Great video Jeff, thanks!
12:45 "i dont feel like pushing it today, im gonna take it easy" : proceeds to ludicrous speed. i even checked playback speed , yep 1x ! ridiculous haha
Hey Nick, I didn't catch what the Garmin said when I turned it off after 11 hours, because I had sprained both brain cells at that point. But it's Thursday and I'm sorta thinking about going for a ride today? Maybe?
@@andyjacques-maynes3570 all good, just thinking out loud!! A few friends have one and after a hard 2ish our ride for 9ish miles it said to recover for like 53 hours, I can only imagine what your ride would have been. Great job again!
Miles over smiles Dan! Thanks for the moto q- I just got back on it and am feeling pretty good there. I would love to do a separate moto channel but it's nice to keep to keep the moto as just a hobby. I'll probably give in and do something soon though, would be fun to see how it would perform!
White Rim trail is an old mining road that circles the Island in the Sky of Canyonlands National Park. Colorado River below the white rim layer of rock on the east and Green River below on the west. Moab closest town N and E of trail.
The Mah Dah Hey Trail kicked my ass a few years ago. I want to get back out there and do that. Maybe not the race, but at least a bike pack trip. The first step would be to get back on the bike. Bike upkeep and repair costs have kind of driven me out of the sport. No more than a handful of rides the past few years.
Zach, any bike is going to be creaky and wobbly when ridden for 3+ hours in the rain followed by 6+ hours in the dust, all without a knick of maintenance. It's not a frame breaking, it's everything else needing a clean and a service.
@@JeffKendallWeed just kinda surprising, thats all. I rode for 6+ hours in PNW dust this last weekend, and only got a loose pre-loader. I get it, hard riding means more maintenance, but you would think for a $4500 (on the cheap end) bike, you would get more than a full day of hard riding no matter the conditions. Especially from someone who works for the company, and probably has all the tools and parts at his disposal to do a quick tune up between a runs.
Hey Zach! My Mojo is far from “new” as I’ve been riding it for almost a year and a half! It’s the very first prototype made. I engineered the bike so I get to ride it to see how it works! And the drivetrain is totally shot after a wet PNW winter 😁
@@andyjacques-maynes3570 btw, thanks for all you guys do! everything i have ever ridden from Ibis has been amazing. i am not trying to rip on the new M4, like i said just kinda surprised if you only got one day of use out of it. Or is this the same prototype? then i totally get it, a year and a half of riding like that would do it.
So if you wreck, and your wheel is still spinning and the rubber touches the ground it's going to spin a lightweight road bike. Claiming there was a motor in there without any other evidence is a joke

@@timlarkin4154 Tim, I think if you did a highlights of galby ride, it'd still be a 50 miler!!!
Tim Larkin yeah Tim. It would be great to get a ride in together when you get up here
@@JeffKendallWeed well, I guess I'll schedule 2 or 3 days in the area. Love your videos and thanks for highlighting Andy with this one.

I've done this many miles and elevation gain several times in a day. Only cost me like $45 for the lift pass on average
hahaha I'm with ya there Jimmy! Smiles not miles!

Right on Bruce! That's a cool system with the monthly challenges, I like that idea!
Sweet
Wow, kudos! Sounds like a special kind of hell and new bottom bracket bearings to us!

Andy is crazy!!
You know it Rob!
Fun rides for me too. 😁

Awesome ride, what a great day I bet. I wonder how long your recovery time would have been quoted by Garmin...lol???

My goal is to do 10k’ climbing on the mountain bike out at SC. Have tried twice, both times had to stop around 7.5k’.
You got that!!! Do the aptos to demo loop twice and you'll hit it for sure!
Great video!
Amazing

Dude I need a link to that bottom bracket motor on the road bike.
Hahaha pinkbike had some info on it recently!!!
Looks like a great challenge, too far away for me
volume was very low on parts of this video, mainly the interviews. could barely hear it on my laptop speakers
A long ride for me is 2 full south side loops.
Hahaha fair enough Kyle!
Took me a minute to realize they were talking about doping, without actually saying it...

They were marketing that MDH trail so hard back in the day! If bikes are too spendy, trail running is almost as fun, and WAY cheaper!!!
@@JeffKendallWeed Ha, backpacking has been my jam lately. Spendy to get set up, but it doesn't break every other time I use it.
Does anyone know what kind of GoPro he uses
Hey gravity, I use a hero 6 with a karma grip.
Thanks a lot, I have a hero 6 too but need to get the grip, love your work and a huge inspiration.
Damnnnn I’m early this time
Thanks for stopping by Nathan!
@@JeffKendallWeed Great video as always!!!

I want to see Jeff ride some of these trails with a cheap bike, I think under 1400 dollars is "cheap" It may be interesting??
Ray, thanks for the note, not much would change with a cheaper bike. Maybe a tad slower, as I can't trust a lot of those parts as much.
Why u have a bell
To let folks know I'm there, and to do so in a friendly way, making for a quick, respectful pass. Works great!!!
