You left out the great jacob miller debut single at the age of 11 years old a song called this is a message then went on to do great work with the Inner circle band-R I P Jacob Miler-Boom Bless
Just started watching. Risto Benji was actually more popular child star and had songs recorded on king jammys label that were hits. "Gimme the money" on the punaany riddim and "don't pirate it" on the same riddim that Pinchers sang Agony. So he wasn't supposed to be left out. RIP Risto Benji 😢
Well these 10 you mentioned are worthy to be mentioned but you can't have a top ten without Tristan palmer, yami bolo ,Jacob Miller and the great Barrington levy these who did have a big impact with hit song that you could always relate to let i refresh your memory entertainment by Tristan palmer one of dancehall famous anthem until this day and also the queen of reggae music marcia Griffiths
The above mentioned artists except for Jacob "Thriller" Miller, should be set aside for a different feature, not this one. Jacob Miller's first recording was a song titled "Love is a Message". For Coxsone's Studio One lable. He was 13 years old.
Dennis Brown is the KING of young artists…. At age eleven, he scored his first hit single with a cover of The Impressions' No Man Is An Island and at age thirteen he had released his first album, No Man Is An Island in 1970 with the legendary Coxsone Dodd at Studio One….fullstop

This is nice and very professional. Do one about upcoming local artists for 2023. Like mandeville has a lot of very talented artists to look out for like the dude name legend or lehgen whichever
Your narratives was on par with this feature. And l thoroughly enjoyed it. But l have to add my 2 cents if you wish. Actually Dennis Brown's first recording was entitled "Occupation". For Derrick Harriott, but was never released. However, the song was rerecorded with the same air, lyrics, melody & rhythm but now titled "Lips of Wine". The song was released in 1972 on an album titled "Super Reggae & Soul Hits" for Derrick Harriott's Move & Groove lable. Songs included: "How Could I Let You Get Away", "Let Me Down Easy". The scintillating ballad "Wichita Lineman", "Changung Times" and "He Can't Spell". Just to name a few. Strange though it may sound, but the song "No Man Is An Island", which was initially thought by many to be DB's first recording, was actually given to DBrown by non other than Derrick Harriott himself. However, Mr Harriott went on an over seas engagement with the intention to record Dennis on his return. But that was not to be, because Dennis already took the song to Studio 1 where the single was recorded, then subsequently the album of the same name.
I had that info about the first song. If I did mention it I don't think i had Occupation as the name though. But I think I mention that he did a song for Harriot first then rerecorded it. I think I even mentioned it was something he did often. A friend of mine was also his roadie.
@jamaicaworldwide Yeah, that is indeed so. But he was not the only artist who did that. In actual fact, they often time do as much as 3 cuts of a song. And over time, they release them. After getting accustomed to the first cut, you began to hear the same song with some different features. In respect to the first recording, "Accupation". I'm speaking with authority. Mr Harriot himself told me so.
Those two artists have big hits tunes when they were young and didn't make the list, but Beenie man that never have a hit tune until he was a adult is listed
Good job ... but there are a few artists that I think need mentioning: Jacob "Killa"Miller, Ernest ' Fitsy' Wilson and Freddie" ever-ready" McGregor et al.
Bless up and Enjoy. Please remember to subscribe. Thanks.
