Dude...this was one of the most comprehensive, easy to follow and clean "history of" videos I have ever seen! Always have wondered about the whole story behind Freddie Dredd. Amazing job!!
nah for real, this guys writing skills and research is wild. the entire time watching im like how tf does he even get this info lol. great stuff as always.
I've been listening to Freddie since like 2016, unironically since then he's been my favorite artist of all time, this video is unbelievably accurate and I'm super happy you made this. The quality of the video itself is enough to make one invested into the story, good shit Yokai hope to see more!
been known about freddie for close to 4 years. crazy seeing such a small artist that you love then seeing him on billboards such a small time later. love you freddie, you deserve everything you’ve gotten
I met Freddie in one of his shows in La in 2021, he’s one of the most chill hilarious brodi’s out there. He was more than cool spending about a half hour just talking to me, cares about his fans.
I believe that freddie dredd is one of the main reasons that transitions became popular on tiktok. starting with cha cha and gtg, along with opaul. all of which were immediately added to my music library when I heard them and I fell in love this this incredible guys music.
I fell in love with ''Cha cha'' so of course I became curious about who Freddie Dredd really was. This is video was so well made, easy to follow, just excellent. Thank you for making this!
nice one new vid from the OG phonk essayist himself. I'm fucking hyped that you made a video of him man, seeing he's on the process of releasing a new album giving him a new surge of popularity you just came right in time to let the new listeners know who he is, almost like you already planned this all out 👀, freddie is what got me into phonk so its a trip seeing this video, keep the videos up mane
admittedly i did find freddie dredd kind of through tiktok??? but i started listening to all his songs and i swear to god i went batshit insane. it was the first time ive ever even heard this genre sound so good and it really introduced me more to this side of music. much love for freddie dredd, bro is a legend
huge fan of phonk and a huge fan of your series'. I am glad you are giving phonk the recognition it deserves as there are so many talented artists that don't get anywhere near the recognition they deserve. Keep them coming I would love to see a video on Von Storm, Roland Jones, Elijah Ghost, etc.
Bro i love you so much, as a follower of freddie dredd i never got to know him better but this video helped me so much, i love the editing skills. Good job bro!
i am so honored to be able to say i was first in line to see him on tuesday at his first show of his very first tour. I am so unbelievably proud of him and how far hes come. my #1 artist 4ever
Freddie is a great artist with probably the worst way to go viral because people on TikTok like to look into people WAY too much, been listening to him since 2016. Still an amazing artists and deserves everything he’s got.
I remember finding Weather on soundcloud and going nuts for it, now and days I prefer more hyperpop than Freddie's type of style, but his music will forever live on in my heart.
Bro Ive known about freddie dredd since like mid-late 2018. Hes definitely a big inspiration on me to listen to Memphis rap, other phonk, and overall had a massive imprint on my preteen-teens. Appreciate this man even though the inevitable tiktok fame, glad hes still consistent and living life

it was smart that he stayed hidden but not too hidden to keep the fans from straying away finding out what freddie dredd really is. edit: i remember looking all over the internet looking for what his story is and how he did all this amazing work
i'm a fan of freddie dredd Spanish-speaking, and since he listened too much to freddie dredd he did not know about his important story, and this video clarified all my doubts about that 🖤
I first heard "I Gotta" on Spotify almost a year ago now. Been listening to Freddie Dredd almost daily since. I remembered thinking, "I really like this rapper, but this Ryan C. guy is the shit!" Now I'm finding out it's the same person. I had also been listening to Ryan C. before I found Freddie Dredd. I hope he achieves his goal of becoming a voice actor, but I also hope he continues making music, he's literally my favorite artist right now.
Great video the editing was so clean and smoooth. i found freddie off a song called snake in 2016 and i would follow his come up on & off ever since discovering him. i remember thinking i liked how consistent his aesthetic was like he knew exactly the lane he wanted to be in as well as what his fans liked out of him and just went at it. this video did a great job of showing how consistent freddie was with his style and content and i hope it pays off immensely in voice acting in the future, much love freddie and yokai.

tik tok has always been something i really hated but it's exposure on instagram was what got me into freddie dredd. at first i thought that his music was pure doodoo as i kept hearin' the same damn, "damn son, these bitches want some" part which got annoying. honestly though, a quick google search and a link to his soundcloud changed my mind and i was soon to become a big fan of him and doomshop records. freddie is that one of the big influences and reasons in why i make beats and upload phonk music to soundcloud as it truly intrigued me with his gritty textured tracks and his underground roots. i'm thankful for the tik tok trend as it introduced me into a new wave of music that would then inspire my own productions. also yokai, keep up the work as it is always a pleasure to watch these documentaries and listen to the phonk you got to offer.
I don’t think that the fans calling out TikTok using Freddie’s music were gate keeping, I think they knew on some level that the level of fame that TikTok brings to artists also comes with a lot of cancel culture, considering most of TikTok thrives on it.
This is the best video on Freddie that exists a year on, awesome work dude and thanks for the info in such a great format. You provided a crash course without it feeling like too much of one, which is honestly quite the talent, especially given that the topic is so shrouded in mystery by design.
