  • The motor was making a lot of extra audible noise and vibrating the car interior quite a bit. So I went ahead and replaced this mount as it seemed to be the most likely to fail. If you like this first person style video, let me know in the comments!
Bolts are 10 x 1.5 x 60MM for the mount to engine bracket.

    Hey 👋🏼
Could you share dimensions of your new bolts?
I'd like to replace my engine mount with this new version but as you know it will be too short. 4:36

The mount to bracket bolts should be m10 1.5 x 55mm. You can reuse the bolt/nuts holding the mount to the body. The one bolt that could be too short should be m10 1.5 35-40mm long (if using the same style mount I used, coming from the stamped style). It's been a long time since I did this though so I could be off.

How do you alight the mount to engine since the holes allow for adjustment? Drivetrain alignment is a real issue...

    • @Dassick89
      @Dassick89  4 місяці тому

The holes where the mount connects to the body has no play. The holes for the engine backed to engine mount have some play, but it's within spec limits of movement. The engine mount moves more than the holes allow, during normal operation.
The vertical limits are self aligning, and so is front/back. Only side would be an issue, but it's not enough to cause any problems. I just align them to the centers of the holes best I can before tightening. Had no issues for 30k miles now. And have done many others in the past the same.

mine have vibration when A/C is on only

    • @Dassick89

The A/C being on just put load onto the engine. As long as your whole car isn't shaking/being loud, it's normal. Depending on your mileage it could need the motor mount replaced. If you at or above 100k miles you would probably benefit from doing the replacement.

I don't understand why you couldn't use the original bolts. I heard you say one time use bolt what does that mean they have the nylon gasket in their self-locking.
I'm going to order one from Amazon but I don't know if it comes with bolts and I don't want to go through all that trouble you did with the bolts.
I was going to use the original bolts and now you have me worried.
Could I get away with using the original boats in your opinion. ?

@@stevel6634 Hi Steve, these bolts that attach the engine bracket to the engine, and the motor mount to the engine bracket are torque to yield bolts, meaning they stretch a calculated amount. They use these to guarantee a specified clamping force in the factory using a degree of turning. It saves a lot of time and money not having to calibrate torque wrenches when doing 1000s of assemblies.
I can't recommend reusing the old bolts since they have already yielded (stretched) when installed. How ever there are people that have reused them, but there's no way to know if they are still in one piece today. Personally I would get some grade 10.9 bolts and replace them. I would not use the factory bolts as you'll need to replace everytime, unless you want to risk the reuse.
Mcmastercarr has the bolts you'll need on their website. I have the sizes listed in the description on either this video or another. Hope that helps.
