The Viets very much copy French villa style. You can find a lot of colonial French villas in Saigon that's around 100 years old near District 1, those are considered as city historic treasures and there are laws that ban demolitions and re-development of these colonial-era villas.
I don't think this is the richest area but it does have many rich of the middle class and houses are in open areas closed to streets. The richest usually buy houses in private area in community where there are guards and stricter security system. Those areas might not let you in without invitation/confirmation by residents so you don't see it!

Thank you. I don’t think it is a public holiday, but I already see a lot of Christmas decorations here, which means a lot of people celebrate Christmas. The big public holiday coming up is Tet (Lunar New Year) which will be in late January.
wow, you came Vietnam, when you are saying (when you are back Texas) you will go to a country far away opposite USA I guessed you will come here :), guess you will visit Ha Giang in the North :))
Mekong rivers are the ones in the Delta region are about 70 km south of Saigon and further down. Saigon was a swamp land, had many creeks and small rivers besides the big one. The big Nguyen Hue blvd was a man-made canal to the Saigon river to supply the fort at the end. Then they filled it and made it a boulevard. The fort became the city hall during the war and now the people 's committee building, whatever it means. With population growth and as land became more precious, many creeks were filled to make room for more development. As a developing country, cities and towns in Vietnam change in appearance every year. Just amazing.
Thanks for watching! In case you are interested, you can find my video of District 7 here: ua-cam.com/video/cHkVITfAr5A/v-deo.html
nice video. Love such places, not for tourist, just real places.
Very interesting. Looks like a town in southern France.
You are right. It reminds me of some towns in France.

That makes sense! Thao Dien has a mix of everything, but I get why the ultra-rich would prefer gated communities for privacy.
khu này không phải khu nhà giàu . khu nhà giàu ở những con đường đẹp và những ngôi nhà hàng triệu đô

The river in Saigon must be me-kong
I am currently walking along the river while typing this response and filming another video. I think it is called Saigon River.
